funny that people were saying 6 years ago that this game was dead....where earlier today during peak TZ i saw close to 200 people logged in (less because of multi accounts but still). IT WOULD BE A MIRACLE TO REVIVE THIS GAME BACK TO ITS FORMER 500-1000 PLAYER ONLINE BASE. that was all it took for this game to be both fun and competitive. I actually thought about doing a big write-up about the game to attempt to draw teamliquid visitors, and i still might...the only problem is that leveling is difficult now because of the lack of population. and most people will get bored leveling....which means....people won't play. vicious cycle. This game is the best MMORTS ever made, hands down. It was a truly balanced game with an RPG element that kept you coming back to play more...the competitive scene in this game was TRULY COMPETITIVE. not to the same extent as e-sports as we know it today but people took tournaments SERIOUSLY in this game, and the 1st-3rd place medals that appeared on your character if you placed in the tournaments actually meant something... it's truly a shame blizzard didn't take this idea and create a better game with the same ideas that shattered galaxy had.

but if you're trying to write something up to convert some folks into players, i'd recommend leaving out the all-caps, though i understand your excitement. as i love and talk about this game a lot myself, i played the NA and KR releases and strongly preferred the korean one. it scratched an RPG itch and was more involving than most online games at its time. it also had an RTS feel like starcraft and i enjoyed using a lot of micro tricks i used in sc in this game. in my opinion the game is extremely dated, extremely niche, and only panders towards old fans of the game. if it is completely free, that also means it is only a matter of time before it is taken down officially. i think it stays as a game we talk about in memory. as for other games, people have tried to take its idea. there are a few that come to mind, the most well known one probably being End of Nations that ended up getting cancelled by Trion. the trend in gaming these days is social games. you can talk about work, life, and other such light talk while on discord and play a generally straightforward game once you've grasped the basics. the barrier to entry is just quite low. this game unfortunately goes against that grain these days. there's clear progression and everything, but you have to go at a grinding pace to get what you want, and then there's no guarantee you get to play with your friends or even now get a game going in the first place. i imagine there will be a lot of downtime between games sometimes. don't get me wrong, i hope people will learn from the examples this game set (on what is fun) and eventually a game producer remembers this game, but until one of us does it justice or the trend miraculously shifts, we will never understand the same gameplay this game once provided.
