I can understand if you dont like it/play it. But saying its crappy is pure and utter bs. Nevermind it is one of the strongest franchise games in the history of the console.. it is (have you even tried it?) evident in its gameplay / features why it is so successful.

I have played it on SNES sometime years ago, but yea i wasnt very impressed im sure they made some progress but we all know EA sports (or EA for that matter)... 99% of the games they release are crap and releasing the same game with some minor updates (mostly gfx) every year cant be good... Just look at FIFA it was good 5 years ago nowadays its just suckage and pretty much still the same game with some changes and new gfx...

Wow Tampa is last. I should go and get slaughtered by the guys there. Anyone ever see that Madden show on ESPN?

errr why shouldn't they re-release madden every year? people ALWAYS look forward to this...even just for the updated rosters (though they always add 2-3 cool features + up the graphics every year) and saying it is a crappy game when you've only played the SNES version is retarded..
|
Lets play with the same guys from 1990!!! Yeahhhhhhhhhh.
|
those could all be free patches too tho the improvements arent that big and i dont think there are many franchises besides the EA sports ones (and some other sports games) which release a new version of basicly the same game with the same engine just with a new rosters,players and some minor improvements... And well Im judging based on the EA sports games I have played (like FIFA even in recent versions) which tend to not be so great imho...
|
How good are these guys that actually win the grand prize?
I don't follow football games, but it seems like each year the game mechanic is tweaked. Imagine a BW balance patches each year such as a Tank is 3 supply the next patch.
Can you use custom rosters for tournaments?

koalla -.- free patches for a console game?
How about they make a new game each year and continually top the charts in sales? That sounds intelligent. Especially since nobody thinks its a shitty game except the few guys who DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT
koalla -> doesnt know anything about it
Thats like only playing SC/BW for Nintendo64 and being like "This game blows, its graphics arent even that good! And single player is easy!"

yea why not??? its as possible as for PC, the thing is consumers just take it from the companys that they take money for it nowadays... gonna be scary when this evolves to PC games...

there are legions who complain about it, that you dont know any doesnt mean there are none...

Maybe not... I didnt graduate on it thats for sure...

LEGIONS of madden haters? Its the top grossing game EVERY year and I would highly doubt you can confuse that for it being some kind of "hated" game..? And no, you cannot have a patch for any console that doesnt connect to the net, and even the ones that can having a patch is alienating those who dont hook it up to the net AND its horrible for business.. it makes no sense. I didnt "graduate" on it either but I have experience with it, experience you lack. Ignorance is not some kind of tool in debate, its a huge deficite. My comparison was that you are commenting on something you tried YEARS ago on an inferior system.. the game has grown miles beyond that and yet you comment like you are privy to whats going on?

About the legions, I was talking more about every EA sports game that gets released at least once a year (FIFA more often with Road to the world cup, world cup, euro cup etc). Most people here are really fed up with it even though they sell well. I don't know much about madden except for the little play time I had at the SNES since american football isnt very popular here. It was just an assumption I made knowning other "great" EA sports games. They are doing it tho, updates and mappacks etc and other downloadable content you have to pay for nowadays on consoles... thats really a bad development anyway not the point atm...

No im just giving you reasons why I assume its a crappy games and it selling well does not mean it actually is a good game... just look at the UK software sales almost everything that hits #1 there is total crap (and again no its not just me that thinks so there are many that think so). Oh yea I could be wrong, but somehow I still doubt it. I just cannot imagine EA sports actually made a really good game >.<

The legions of people that complain are usually the same people that don't even play it. oh wait, what a concidence.

Actually some 360 games do have patches. And they are free.

I already mentioned that.. and covered the pros and cons of that.

EA sucks @ that fa sho' -_-;;
FIFA used to be an awesome game, probably the 2nd best game after PES/WE.. Well, actually it still is an awesome game.. but let's be honest, there are 237 different FIFA games, which are only made to reel in the cash. Update the players/clubs, get rid of a bug, do a graphics upgrade and find a new bug... ugh ;( What a waste of what was once a great title..
If you are a real gamer and aim for the best gameplay, you play PES instead of FIFA.. (funny.. with FIFA selling out greatly for the last w/e years, only because it attracts the fans that want to play with their favourite players that actually do somewhat look alike the real players). Look at SC2.. gameplay goes above all right? I've seen shitloads of people complaining about the gfx, and every poster knows what would be the best way to program SC2.. How come for SC2 a gfx update isnt good enough, while EA can release 500 different versions of the same game.. seems silly to me >.<
Who cares about fifa 2006? who cares about fifa 2007? who's gonna care about fifa 2008? nobody.. -_- I've never played any madden game, but it seems to me that the same story can be told about all 237 madden games
edit: this thread also made me think of Streetfighter 43 Alpha X Turbo 360 v.2.6 eXtreme vs Capcom Max 2007 Remix too ;P After the SF2 classic they basically only made crap after it as well.. they did manage to release 2-3 nice titles next to 50 failures tho T_T;

i have to chime in and say Madden is pretty fucking awesome
it's also relatively hard to be good at, you actually do need a good understanding of football to play it
and who cares about all the extra features and crap, people are paying $50 a year for player and stat updates, which is more than worth it to a real football fan
you want to play with your favorite players as they are in the current season
i mean everyone in boston right now is buying madden and throwing to randy moss

I have Madden 08 and it is pretty awesome i must say
