Actually, isn't this is the first time since SBO1 that a team with Makoto has won? Man, it would have been so awesome if God's team won. They would have been the first team to win with no Yun, Chun, or Ken!

Yun is top tier because of his super. Basically every time he activates god mode, he gets free damage and that free damage leads to free meter afterwards (geneijin enders give up to 1/2 meter back). Then you just need to land 1 more combo or some blocked hits to get another full meter and the whole process repeats. Without geneijin, Yun would definitely be lower (at least under Yang).

Ken has way too many ways of getting damage. He has so many high low options and hit confirms into shoryuken/super. After a super or a shoryuken, he's basically set up perfectly for an ambiguous cross-up which lead to more damage, etc. His super's also a lot better, 3 short bars and it does reasonable damage while Ryu's supers are rather meh (compared to Ken's that is). Ryu might have the potential of doing more damage with 1 combo but really he needs to work way too hard to get damage.

Perhaps on youtube in a couple of days. I'm sure someone saved the stream somewhere or took hidden footage at SBO (the Chinese probably did this =P).

Yes, you can buy SBO's DVD. It's one of the only ways they can get money for these events.

You can also watch last year's SBO 4 matches on Youtube.

Yun is top tier mainly because of his ridiculous super. It's pretty much free damage for him, and if he comboes into it he can knock off 30%-40% of your life with ease. And Genei-Jin has the 2nd shortest meter in the game (only 72 points: the shortest is Yang's Seiei-Enbu which is 64, and for comparison Ken's 3rd super is 88 points), plus he gets meter for his Genei-Jin combo finisher, so he almost always gets 2 or more Genei-Jins in every round =/.

Aside from his super, Yun also has a strong move set which includes a command throw like Makoto. His mixups give him a choice of low attack, high attack, or command throw (free combo). If you've ever played this game as a character without a shoryuken, you'll realize how incredibly annoying and hard to deal with Yun's and Yang's divekicks can be. It's surprisingly tough to learn how to parry them because Yun/Yang can vary the timing, or do a normal attack, or do nothing, or do a short divekick that lands just in front of you and now suddenly you're getting hit by a throw or combo. When you're in the corner, they can also cross you up with a divekick (meaning they land on the far half of you, forcing you to block towards them instead of away from them) which, if timed correctly, gives them a free combo too. Or they can look like they're going to do a cross up divekick but instead do a non-cross up one. In general, Yun is a good character even without Genei-Jin. But he definitely wouldn't be top-tier without his super.

By the way, I'm getting all these numbers from this site (translated by Google), and specifically you can get the characters' HP, stun gauge lengths, super art damage, and super art meter lengths here.

Ken is a higher tier than Ryu because:
1. Ken's SA3 is a lot better than all of Ryu's supers. Ken can combo or link into his SA3 super in many, many more ways than Ryu can into his. (Ken has: low lk 2-3 hits, low mk, low mp, standing mp, standing back-mk overhead, mp+mk universal overhead, standing close mp close hp. Ryu has low mk cancelled into SA1 or SA2, and toward-mp or close-mp linked into SA2.)
2. Ken walks and dashes faster than Ryu. Despite that, Ken's combos generally do more damage because he can finish them with his super. Even without a super, jab shoryuken is a good combo finisher. (Ryu does more stun, but unless he's using Denjin (SA3), he usually won't stun his opponent anyway)
3. Ken's shoryuken (uppercut) is generally better than Ryu's. His lp shoryuken has a much shorter recovery than Ryu's, and his hp shoryuken has invincibility at the start and does more hits (making it harder to parry), whereas Ryu's hp shoryuken has no invincibility and does 1 hit. Ryu's EX-shoryuken is the only one he has with invincibility. Also, all of Ken's shoryukens do a little more damage.

The only advantages Ryu has over Ken are:
1. He does more stun (but it's usually not a deciding factor in games).
2. He has a decent kara-throw (a way to make his throw range longer).
3. His EX-hadoken (fireball) recovers faster than Ken's and is essentially unpunishable if blocked. Many characters can hit Ken with a reversal-super if they block his EX-hadoken it at close range, but it's rarely seen. ("reversal" means you super at the earliest possible frame)

Ryu's advantages do not come close to making up for his shortfalls. But he's still a pretty good mid-tier character.

Oh man, you really missed out. This was like 100x better than an SC live stream . It had more action than 10 OSL's . If you take the # of comments we made and divide by 3, that's approx. how many "OMFG!!!" moments we had .

NP . An EX move is a special move done by pressing 2 or 3 punch/kick buttons at the same time. When you do an EX move, your character flashes yellow and you hear a SWISH or FLASH sound. It consumes 40 points from the super meter and generally makes the special move:
1. higher damage/stun
2. faster and/or longer range
3. in some cases, invincible at the start (e.g. any EX shoryuken, or Chun Li's EX spinning bird), which means it will ALWAYS beat the opponent's move, even a super art in theory.

I've never actually seen an invincible EX move beat an invincible-startup super art, though. It'd be really hard because the inv. EX moves usually have 1-2 frames where they are invincible and can still hit, so those 1-2 frames would have to come after the super art's invincible startup.

Ken also has a better basic move set than ryu. His standing middle kick and high kick for example are far superior to ryu's.
