Chris Benoit, family found dead Written: June 25, 2007
STAMFORD, Conn., June 25, 2007 – World Wrestling Entertainment was informed today by authorities in Fayetteville County, Ga., that WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son were found dead in their home. Authorities are investigating, but no other details are available at this time.
Instead of its announced programming for tonight on USA Network, WWE will air a three-hour tribute to Chris Benoit.
Chris was beloved among his fellow Superstars, and was a favorite among WWE fans for his unbelievable athleticism and wrestling ability. He always took great pride in his performance, and always showed respect for the business he loved, for his peers and towards his fans. This is a terrible tragedy and an unbearable loss.
WWE extends its sincere condolences and prayers to the Benoit family and loved ones in this time of tragedy.

apparantly i read the wikipedia link and he called in saying hes family was caughing up blood.... poisoned? to early to tell but it seems weird how mc mcmahon *died* and now this happens...
wow I loved Chris Benoit ( when I actually liked stupid wrestling ) He had the oldschool attitude all about good wrestling and not about talk talk talk.
Weird that he's a suspect for a double-murder/suicide and they want a memorial to him. What if he did murder them? Should they really have a memorial for a murderer.

this is not just another pro wrestling gimmick, although it is sad that the fakeness of the sport leads us to have our mistrust in very real events such as this.

It's easy to tell it's not. Yahoo.com has it and some other non-WWE related news sites has it. It couldn't be a lie. The Vince McMahon story on the other hand is because no other sites has it.
damn what on earth... he did seem like a great guy.. i liked his wrestling style.. i followed him a bit back in wwf days.. i cant believe he would be a murderer..

Many normal looking people in real life have emotional problems that are buried. And they are only able to handle them to certain point of determination and they begin to snap - and when it happens, they world is in shock over somethings that began way before. Those closer to him would probably look back and "think" they seen it coming.

one does not hold a memorial for what one has done but for one has accomplished in life.

what you just said makes no sense.
if he murdered an innocent child and women, he lost all credibility.

Sorry man but have to agree this doesn't really make a lot of sense but perhaps I get his drift. He's probably just trying to be on the side where "since everyone is dead" it's pointless to just keep cussin' over it. He's still a man that could snap.

The scary thing is that most people who are murderers usually are completely normal in the eyes of society.
Most serial killers never had anything stick out about them. It honestly bothers me, because the people you'd typically think are the nutjobs usually aren't the dangerous ones.
i never watch wrestling and all i know about him is that he is canadia but i also heard on the news that the autopsy is not going to be released until later on today. i hear that there is a possibility that it was a double murder suicide but it was not confirmed. we will find out the truth soon enough.
man so many wrestlers are dead now. they are all juiced and coked out. i was looking around wiki the other day, here's just a few + Show Spoiler +

""In the last five years, more than 60 current or former professional wrestlers, all under the age of 45, have died. Some died from injuries sustained in the ring, others from drug overdoses, and still others from complications caused by years of steroid and drug use. All of them, according to renowned performer Rowdy Roddy Piper, suffered from the "sickness" brought on by years of living the extreme lifestyle of a pro wrestler. "
it's insane how fast and early these guys are dying

because they faked his death for ratings, and then this guy and his family all die. you shouldn't fuck around with things like that, unless it's really funny.

eeeh... it is a pretty big deal. there is a big fucking difference imo. between murdering someone and murdering your own child and wife. it goes against all human biological hard wiring and takes a certain pretty fucked up personality to do something like this. with or without roids. this action says more about him than what we've seen in his 20 years of wrestling. I mean shit, pretty obvious to me that a lot of domestic violence been going on in that house before this...
im feeling a bit mixed in my sympathies right now. on the one hand, here's one of the coolest wrestlers ever who gets mixed up with steroids and on the other the same guy kills his wife and son. there are no answers i suppose, only understanding.
Well, autopsy's been done and it looks like the wife nad kid was killed by asphyxiation and Chris then hung himself with a wire from his weight room. He and his wife married in 2000, She filed for divorce in 2003 due to domestic violence.
/avoiding the temptation to crack a joke about how the domestic violence was fake.
...yet the images of Benoit dropping the flying elbow from the top of the kitchen table won't get out of my head. Anyways. I was totally giving him the benefit of the doubt until now =[

Steroids found at wrestler's house of death Wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself by the pulley of a weightlifting machine, authorities said Tuesday. Investigators also found prescription anabolic steroids in the house.

Wasn't that kind of obvious? First thing I thought of when I read "family found dead", these kind of tragedies actually happen way more than one might think. :[
Anyways I have no idea who he was, but anyone who murders his own family sure as hell isn't worth remembering to me.
Although I wasn't familiar with this guy, nor am I with wrestling in general, I feel sorry to hear about his whole family gone like that. Rest in peace
Detailed WWE/Benoit timeline Written: June 26, 2007
Below is a detailed WWE/Chris Benoit timeline from Saturday to Monday:
Saturday, June 23, 2007
Chris Benoit was scheduled to appear at the WWE SmackDown/ ECW live event in Beaumont, Texas
3:30pm A co-worker received a voice message from Benoit. The message from Benoit stated he missed his flight and over slept and would be late to the WWE Live Event. The co-worker called Benoit back, Benoit confirmed everything he said in his voice message and sounded tired and groggy. Benoit then stated, “I love you”. The co-worker stated that it was “out of context.”
3:42pm The same co-worker was concerned with Benoit’s tone and demeanor and called Benoit for a second time. Benoit did not answer the call and the co-worker left a message stating “just call me back.”
3:44pm Benoit called the co-worker back stating he didn’t answer the call because he was on the phone with Delta changing his flight. Benoit stated he had a real stressful day due to Nancy and Daniel being sick with food poisoning. They discussed travel plans for the WWE Tour of Texas with Benoit still sounding groggy at this point according to the co-worker.
4:30pm A co-worker who consistently travels with Benoit, called Benoit from outside Houston airport and Benoit answered. Benoit told the co-worker that Nancy was throwing up blood and that Daniel was also throwing up. Benoit thought they had food poisoning. Benoit stated he changed his flight and he would be arriving into Houston at 6:30pm. Benoit told the co-worker to drive onto the WWE event.
5:35pm Benoit called WWE Talent Relations stating that his son was throwing up and that he and Nancy were in the hospital with their son, and that Benoit would be taking a later flight into Houston, landing late, but would make the WWE live event in Beaumont.
6:10pm A representative of Talent Relations called Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations asked Benoit what time Benoit was getting into Beaumont. Benoit responded he was leaving Atlanta at 9:20pm Eastern time arriving into Houston at 9:24pm Central time. The representative from Talent Relations advised Benoit that it would be too late to make the WWE live event in Beaumont. Benoit apologized citing he had a family emergency. The representative from Talent Relations suggested to Benoit that instead of going to the WWE live event in Beaumont, Benoit should take the flight to Houston, rest up and be ready for the Vengeance Pay-Per-View event.
6:13pm The representative from Talent Relations called Benoit to reconfirm the travel plans with no answer from Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations left a voice message to take the flight and rest up.

So after he kills his wife and kid he text messages his co-worker and tells him where his dogs are, so he can take care of them...
he cared more about his dogs than wife n kid i guess

Yeah..
Wow.... well that sucks omg... i never thought he was that kinda person. I wonder if anger from wrestling had anything to do with it... TT_TT
only know him from the Our Lady Peace song 'Whatever', but i'm guessing adultery, it usually is (at least from the stories you read about in the media) in cases of murdering your own wife and children
So many questions
In 2000 Our Lady Peace was asked to write a song for a WWE wrestler. I admit to being heavily influenced by martial arts but entertainment wrestling was never my thing. I knew very little about the sport. Our drummer Jeremy was more the wrestling aficionado in the band. Nevertheless one night in Toronto we met with a professional wrestler for dinner at a local restaurant chain. His name was Chris Benoit. Immediately I was struck by his appearance. Not overly tall but freakishly muscular and wearing a very large neck brace. He had suffered a few herniated discs in his neck days before and was on hiatus until he had surgery and was able to rehab. Throughout the evening we learned about Chris and about the sport. Chris was a purest and came from a true wrestling background. His technical abilities were revered by all who followed him. Above that he seemed like a decent, nice man if not a little tortured. Nothing surprising coming from someone so dedicated to this absurd lifestyle of injuries, painkillers, steroids and constant travel. We ended up recording a theme song for him in Seattle during the next few months. We would see him a couple more times at various shows on tour in the US and he seemed pleased with the song we wrote for him.
Today I learned through numerous emails and Myspace comments that Chris Benoit had killed himself along with his 7 year old son and wife. I think back to that dinner we had years ago and struggle to come to grips with the fact that this was Chris' destiny. Assuming the authorities are correct in their assessment, I can't help but think Chris must have been in immeasurable pain both psychologically and physically. We may never know the answers to why this successful man ultimately was unable to handle this world and in no way do I personally absolve him of any guilt concerning the death of his son and wife. I guess I simply feel sad and somewhat shocked that someone I knew briefly had such a terrible and tragic ending to their life.
the text messages seem to be indicative of a call for help for me.. or well at least trying to tell people where he was so that they know where to find him.. and/or the mess he made.. and the dog message might just be telling them that the dogs wont be attacking if they came in and he indicated a way into the house..
If you look at "Chris Benoit" the wrestler, the entertainer, you feel sad and you say RIP. If you look at "Chris Benoit" like one of the thousands of murderers in history that killed his entire family, you can just say he's a freaking scumbag
that was a quote which made no sense, I agree as well. But the jist of it is true, he accomplished much more BEFORE what happened, it shouldn't bar having a memorial to grieve for the person he was, not the end of his life of what he did...
darkyoda has it completely right, you SEPERATE the two.
Is it just me, or is wrestling the most idiotic sport ever? I mean, I have nothing against controlled fighting sports like boxing, martial arts, etc., but seriously, wrestling is like two fighting savages that go at it -__-....maybe the years of fighting and smacking all these other wrestlers heads across the ground finally got to him;;;;;;

I might consider this if he actualy had done something great with his life that warranted memorial.. but he was an "ACTOR"
how bout a memorial for hitler for all the great things he did for the german economy before he murderd 5600000 jews.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but they said that he was injecting his young son with steroids because he thought he wasn't big enough for his age...

This is a tragedy. The end.
There's actually a lot of truth to that.
Apparently he was prescribed testosterone (some types of steroids lower testosterone levels, so this is fairly routine) and that can send someone on emotional rages. There was also a history of domestic abuse. The wife even file for a restraining order at some point, but dropped it before it went through.
It's fair to say, the Benoit family has been fucked up for a while and most of us could never identify with their problems.
Something pretty weird, apparently yahoo news reports that 14 hours b4 the discovery of the bodies there was a wikipedia alteration declaring that his wife was already dead...fucking wikipedia..i mean simply wtf

The phrase "stemming from the death of his wife Nancy" was added to the English Wikipedia's "Chris Benoit" article at 12:01 a.m. EDT on June 25,[107] whereas the Fayette County police reportedly discovered the bodies of the Benoit family at 2:30 p.m. EDT (14 hours, 29 minutes later). We were discussing this in another forum. At first people were like "omgz yd he edit his wiki page rofl!11" but then we saw what else that person had added to wikipedia ie: She also has a nice large ass that any straight man would like to spend a nice with. and one of their favorites Before starting his wrestling career, Chavo was addicted crack and was a rapist. One day when Chavo was doing crack he thought he saw a little white kid but it was actually his son, and sexualy abused him until his penis fell off. On this day forth he will no longer rape his kid ,but he still rapes people(even though he has no penis) so wacth out for him, even adults.
We then came to the conclusion that it was just a HUGE ass coincidence and it was just some moron vandalizing wikipedia.
