Take my money right now!!!

Speaking to longtime Nintendo developer (and Wave Race producer) Shinya Takahashi at this year’s BAFTAS, we asked him whether Switch owners could expect to see the franchise making a splash on Nintendo’s new hybrid console.

“You may see that game again,” Takahashi teases with a grin. “We have been trying to make many games and that may be one of them … I personally love Wave Race!”

While this isn’t a full on confirmation of a new Wave Race splashing its way onto Switch, this does suggest that we could at least be getting a virtual console version. With a Gamecube Virtual Console rumoured long before the Switch even launched, our fingers and toes are crossed that we’ll be hearing more about Nintendo’s retro gaming service at this year’s E3.

Been playing a lot of Darkest Dungeon and Celeste on the switch after finally (kinda) moving on from BotW and it makes me so happy to have the switch.

Celeste is just fantastic and would be great on any platform, it's amazing how much room the game has taken the Super Meat Boy formula and find so much room to do its own thing.

The Darkest Dungeon is a real joy on the switch, it's a great game to play sparingly and sort of savor between play sessions. Sure it's a game fueled by a big grind, but it's fun to run a few dungeons, then put it down and sort of savor and think about the possibilities with the class and skill combinations. I think I would bounce off the game hard on the PC where it'd be an investment to start up the game and run through a dungeon, but with the switch it's quite enjoyable.

I just started BotW. So far, like Xenoblade, I like how the game handles deaths. It encourages players to try to stick their nose in places they might not be able to handle. Or try to make certain leaps that might not work out.

And by that you mean, death is almost not penalized :D.
I like how games have realized that you don't actually need to penalize deaths that harshly for the gameplay to still be engaging. You just get teleported back somewhere and the sentiment of failure alone is enough of a punishment.

My favourite example is Super Meat Boy, where you get to see every single failed attempt unfold before your eyes. There's just something soothing about seeing yourself get better and better (making jumps that you weren't able to make 50 deaths ago)

Does anyone know about the localizations of switch? As in can I buy a console from country (or continent) A and a game from a country (continent) B and they'll work no problem? Last time I bought a console was DS lite and that's now some years ago so I'm a bit off the hoop. I'm in Hong Kong and buying the console seems to be ~20% cheaper here than in the UK or Finland so i'd like to take the opportunity but are there any downsides/compatibility issues I should be aware of?
I play children's card games and watch a lot of dota, CS and HS

According to Nintendo, they are region free - but don't test every combination so they can't guarantee 100% they will work.

Thanks! Seems like they are saying the usual stuff so they don't have to take liability in case something goes wrong. I'll see how hard I want to get on BotW and Dark Souls when it comes :p

Nintendo Switch is region free

you can even create an account from another region and buy games cheaper if you dont care about the hassle of doing that and not having every game tied to 1 account

67 days from now, the school year is over.
68 days from now, I buy and start playing the Nintendo Switch.

After the N64, I switched from console gaming to primarily PC gaming, but the Switch has gotten me hyped up again, and I look forward to all the Nintendo nostalgia and amazing new games

I figure I'll start with Mario Odyssey and BotW, pick up a few fun party games, and then probably read through this thread again for other recommendations

Right now, my list is:
1. Super Mario Odyssey
2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
4. Splatoon 2
5. Pokken Tournament DX (wife loves Pokemon and fighting games)
6. Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Donkey Kong Country is coming out soon. If you're into platforming games, it looks pretty awesome. The games I'm looking forward to are coming out one right after another.

May: DKC
June: Mario Tennis
July: Octopath

On top of that, summer sales for PC games. There goes all my free time

Mario + Rabbits was surprisingly OK, consider adding that to your list DPB

Though by the time you've completed those 6 games the new Smash will hopefully be out.

Will do, thanks for the recommendations! Definitely looking into DKC, Mario Tennis, and Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Most excited for Smash 5, of course Based on when in 2018 Smash 5 comes out, it may end up being a holiday season present.

"Following the Nintendo Direct teaser, Nintendo has told us that Super Smash Bros is coming at some point in 2018, though a more specific date has not been divulged."

Edit: I also hope that KH3 or a FFVII remake come to the Switch.

I've also read that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be coming out for the Switch, and eventually (eventually eventually), the Final Fantasy VII remake has a decent chance of being on the Switch as well.

Sources?

Checking back through some of the links, I realized I got clickbaited hardcore with ambiguous or sensationalized guesses- not confirmed statements- like "Square Enix news - Kingdom Hearts 3 surprise, Final Fantasy 7 Remake boost for Switch. The Square Enix news round-up today includes a Kingdom Hearts 3 surprise and a possible Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date boost for Nintendo Switch." https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/gaming/927382/Square-Enix-news-Kingdom-Hearts-3-Final-Fantasy-7-Remake-Nintendo-Switch

Neither has been confirmed for the Switch; I'll edit my previous post accordingly.

Dead Cells when it comes out. Just watch a trailer for that game and you will understand why.

Gonna signal boost a great indie; Golf Story is an amazing game, and is great on the platform. Fun sense of humor, fun core gameplay, and plenty of content for the price.
