Renowned Explorers is a rogue-lite from the developers of Reus. It's a lot like FTL but with more depth and character. I've sunk 84 hours into this game so far and am still enjoying it. I'll try do a quick rundown of all the mechanics you get in this game:
Hex grid tactical combat
The game has a pretty complex rock/paper/scissors system of buffs and resistances. The three different attack types are Aggressive, Devious and Friendly. You affect the "mood" of the battle by favoring a type of attack, giving you buffs or penalties based on the opponents mood. For example if both sides are friendly, an aggressive attack does 50% more damage, and will change your mood to aggressive. Then, since Aggressive>Friendly, you gain extra defense to speech attacks until one side switches moods.
Speech attacks (either devious or friendly) come in 3 types that have different buff/debuff effects, and enemies can be weak or resistant to certain types.
Anyway it's a very well designed and satisfying combat system I think. It's hard to describe it all in words.... Total Biscuit's review does a good job of showing it in action: TB video review
Board game feel
The expedition maps are like FTL's nodes. But each event and encounter can net you tokens that you cash in at the end of the expedition for gold, research and status. These are the resources you spend to upgrade your characters and improve your ability to meet challenges and collect treasures.
Choose your own adventure book
The events in this game are varied and well written. When you arrive at a node usually either something will happen, or you will get to choose which action you want to take. This game feels very immersive to me, like getting lost in a good book. There's 11 unique expedition maps and about 110 special treasures to find within them.
20 different party members
You choose a team of 3 at the beginning. One is the team captain, and each person has a different captain's perk which affects gameplay. It's fun trying to figure out synergies between parties; the game changes a lot based on who you pick and what attack types they favor.

Anyway I really love this game and just wanted to share. Total Biscuit's video is the best if you want to get an idea of it, or check out the reviews on the steam and GOG pages:
