HTC Throwdown is a tournament taking place in San Francisco, California at the Folsom Street Foundry on September 19, 2015. The tournament will feature a $10,000 pot bonus for singles and a $2,000 pot bonus for doubles courtesies of title sponsor HTC. View schedule.
DreamHack London 2015 is the first Super Smash Bros Melee tournament hosted by DreamHack, set to be held from September 19 to 20, 2015 in London, England. It will have a $20,000 prize pool, the biggest prize pool in Melee history. View schedule.
The top two finishers in both tournaments will be flown out to DreamHack Winter 2015 to compete for a $30,000 prize pool.
I was about to type that I wonder how Leffen will do, but with a closer thought I realized I wonder how everyone will do, lots of question marks really. But we will definately have some good smash, that's for sure !
MikeHaze vs Tai coming-up on the HTC stream. Mike's tech has been sick lately, and he's been looking really precise. Tai is looking fantastic at this tourney.
I think I spoke too soon. Tai looked a little rough that game. He can definitely bring it back if he cleans his game up a bit. He seems to see how Mike is playing and responding accordingly.

Hm, I missed a lot of it too, but if you look at the bracket for HTC, you will probably be like, "Wait what??"
Man it stuns me that people legitimately like the HMW/Phil commentary. The whole thing was awful. I really really hope TBH5 will have them on a side stream or something cause if they cast all of TBH5 top 8 it'd be insufferable.
end of druggedfox vs silent wolf was the worst spaghetti ever

cheep this is practically blasphemy
I guess you're used to "esports commentary," but for many, hmw + phil make you really feel like you're part of a community of people who all know each other (which is what the smash community is)
Yeah Phil and HMW have some great synergy, they were really fun to listen to getting goofy. Can't always have super-serious techno-analytical stuff. Gotta lighten the mood a bit. Foundry has always been about 'lax commentary anyway. Glad they didn't try to super-esports everything up.

No I've been watching Smash long before we went ESPORTS lol I've always hated the HMW/Phil casting.I don't mind casual commentary but I would like them to be talking about the game, instead of treating whatever is happening on screen as if it doesn't exist.
The "community" aspect is overrated anyways when you have 10x more people watching than people who actually play. The stream is for people who aren't there not for people who are there.

Yeah, although Armada's improving his fox daily, he is scary. I don't really think PPMD was back for realz at Evo, and his analytical dual main style might be the dominant thing in the new era.
Although this is a thread about Leffen winning, and he is ultra crisp, and optimizing like it's 20xx already ^^

Submitting is limited to the events in the drop-down list though, isn't it? That kind of hinders any non-weeklies/monthlies from being submitted by random forum members.

I have no time to add events to the calendar anymore. I was at HTC Throwdown trying to locate players who kept disappearing on me half the time.
If you don't see an event on the calendar you should try submitting it yourself if you have time.
Stopped using the calendar when they introduced the new version and thought the event was already registered (Day 1 was, yesterday), just not set to "live" yet as it used to be from time to time back in the day.
I can certainly do so since several events often aren't mentioned at all. But then again, the new layout is so repulsive that I really don't want to work with it (TLPD is still set to SC2 and I can't change it).

You are right. That actually even eliminates the "several events" which I stated.

Yeah, I have no idea :p
Seems fine though since there is currently nothing on the stream anyway (except for some music).
(Well, you could have added "Top 6" or something but I didn't do it so I can't complain.)

Well, that still stands. Can't submit Avalon M which is next week.
