There's a browser RTS that has been around for some time and it' similar to WC2, BW and SC2 but with it's own uniqueness. You don't need to download anything in order to play it.
Please check out this game! Here are the reasons why:
1 There's only one race, so you can play like "Protoss" or like "Zerg" without being limited by picking a race. 2There's one type of resource (Gold, no lumber). 3 Workers and towers are strong (but towers cost more with each additional one) 4 No autocast 5 Proxies and cheeses 6 Tower rushes 7 Fast expanding, simcity, pressure while expanding 8 Multiple building and multiple unit selection, hotkeys, location hotkeys, spell hotkeys. 9 No balled up armies and they don't die in a split second. 10 High potential advantages for microing units, positioning armies, expanding and scouting well. 11 Ladders and match making as well as custom games, friend lists, chat rooms etc.
======================================================================================== Sample of games ========================================================================================== The level of play at the top level quite high. In the series below you'll see mass drops that will remind you of mass shuttle mass reaver + goon or even Bisu/Boxer in some of his crazy drop games (anti air isn't as effective and there's no need to conserve gas). Drops EVERYWHERE.
And you will also see some proxies and cheese.
And the mandatory rage.
Highly recommended. The games get more and more interesting as the series progresses
FPV From Aicy (Top 100 GM in SC2) with commentary (beast vs beast):
In fact I wouldn't watch anything without Aicy, veni and YummyBlaBla to be honest. I won't even recommend my own recorded games from that tournament because the level of play drops quite sharply from the top players.
LWG has potential to be really fun though, and supposedly the dev is releasing a patch soon in which he may be adding changes requested by the higher level players in the game.
EDIT: I realize now that is a vod of the whole thing, not just mage vs Xao as the thumbnail suggests. But still many of the games aren't worth watching.

Thanks for the reply, please do post some better videos as I am new to the scene, and I was already impressed by the level of play in those games I will edit the OP by only showcasing the best game if you'd post some links.
No that video is the final match, so its probably good, it is yummy vs veni. when you look at it it says Mage vs Xao which is an awful game.
There are some fpvods of aicy and yummy playing as well which you might find interesting, although I believe they are Beast vs Beast dragon wars, as that was the patch meta when they were recorded.
On September 17 2015 21:19 TaShadan wrote: Good game in general but it has a really confusing meta game. Mass catapults/ballista all over? wtf?
Haha on the contrary I was impressed by that style. As it reminds me so much of PvP in BW.
There are many effective ways to play it. You aren't limited to catapults and balistas. For example the game above posted by xccam showed a different style .
Thanks xccam for the links. Please feel free to post more!
On September 17 2015 22:39 TaShadan wrote: PvP in bw seriously? So catapults are what? Goons? and Ballista is the reaver? Or the other way around? Oo Where are speed zeals, dts and hts?
I was only referring to goon shuttle reaver in the videos there are aoe spells and invisibility spells but I haven't watched a game that was so developed yet. It was only released last year :D
Balistas are like anti air goons Catapults are weaker reavers but more massable Airships are shuttles
Except in this series they drop like crazy and abuse the projectiles and dropships like what boxer did by taking out many goons with a dropship and 2 tanks

Just had a game vs rocko where I went for mages thinking i can smash some face with fireball. Turns out, after testing it deals less than 20 damage if I hit spot on, and it's very difficult to so it so it usually does less damage. Needless to say I got owned that game thinking it was at least half as good as high templars
It's a fun game, I recommend it to anyone who wants to chillax after losing lots of frustrating games to protoss.
It's certainly got it's flaws (of which I complain about regularly to the dev and so - he's improving), but it doesn't have any of the terrible terrible damage of sc2 or bullshit spells like forcefield which can make SC2 very frustrating and games coming down to just 2 seconds of miscontrol of your army.
The community is very cool mainly I believe because of the lobby that you are looking at and is the majority of your screen whenever you are outside of a game/replay, and is part of what makes the game what it is - social and casual.
That said, despite it being a very social and casual game there it is certainly playable at a high level and although it appears to have a very low skill cap there is actually a lot more room for skill than you might think; I'm a top 100 GM on EU and feel like I have a unforeseeable amount of room for mechanical improvement in littlewargame. In my opinion skill caps don't exist really - the things that allow an inferior player to win in an esport is random/luck elements and tiny and quick mistakes that are easily made being huge and unrecoverable, mattering far more than doing everything else perfect - these are both things that are ubiquitous in SC2 and very rare in LWG.
And since you asked for more links, here is a FPV of a game I played against YummyBlaBla (me and him are undeniably the two best players for a while now) on a mod map with changes that will soon be implemented into the standard game:

Super great game, I encourage anyone who likes BW or sc2 to check it out. If you needs someone to play with just message me if Im online, my ingame name is SlammerIV.
Hi, since I was ungraciously mentioned in this thread, I might as well post... I have no major accomplishments like Aicy, who's one of the best zergs in the UK, but I have played a lot of RTS's in the past, such as BW and WC3. I was never near the status as a "good player". I'm just a casual guy who plays for fun and competitively amongst friends. With that being said, it doesn't take much to be good at LWG because of the simplicity of the game with very few unit interactions and low APM requirements. However, it can also be said that the game is a bit counter-intuitive when compared to popular games like SC2. It's a bit frustrating to hear people say "the game is like SC2", when in fact, it is more similar to WC2, where both players have access to the same units, so good on the OP. The game indeed has the potential to be a casually competitive game, but we'll see in the upcoming patch, where the problems of a "never-ending game" will be addressed. The amount of players right now playing at the "good level" is very low, as there are more Bronze players than Diamond and above players. This I feel is a huge problem for newcoming decent RTS players as they will immediately find the game boring with little challenge.

I loved BW and i played a lot in the past. I also checked out LWG and it is a nice game but unfortunately nothing for me in the long run.

ungraciously? We all thought you were a fantastic player, as seen from the OP video. I was really impressed. In fact xccam wouldn't watch anything without Aicy, veni and you, YummyBlaBla.
Only tashadan said never heard of you before, well which is true, none of us know you from the BW scene
Yes, naturally for a new browser game there aren't many good players, but like us can just play play with their friends who are at our skill level, which is why we have to gather our friends from TL and other places.

A new patch is out, which,in my opinion helped the game alot. Houses are 125g now and most units are more expensive now, which results rewarding the player who wins the fights more.

that's interesting. I'm not sure how the price change in units will affect the game yet but houses were just too expensive
Thanks to reddit ads the playerbase is now rising quite rapidly. Also a new patch has hit, again improving the game in a great way, removing the tower upgrade leads to player actually attacking expos with one turret standing.
Littlewargame is still going strong with the latest balance patch putting in probably the best 1v1 state it has ever had. Join the discussion on Discord: https://discord.gg/WBUtXdP
There is a $48 prize pool tournament scheduled for Feb 2 if anyone is interested in checking out some competitive lwg https://challonge.com/LWGCup
is there still no way to get rid of the X that comes up when you scroll to the top on chrome? I used to play this a bit when it first came out but I was always extremely frustrated by that.
e: well Firefox works at least, guess I can use that.

Huh, that X thing never bothers me, I find that firefox has a far greater issue where Shift click brings up a context menu, which is borderline unplayable as making buildings and shifting workers back to mine becomes a huge pain.
