Basic UI: If something takes a long time before finishing, the user needs feedback. Hence the faked progress sounds.
Why it was so annoying? Hell if I know.

When did taste become something negative? No one here is being elitist. In fact, if being a childish teen is the contrary of being the "elite", then the "elite" makes up for most of the population. We are in a video game forum, but let's not forget that the world is a little larger than that. If the only ambition you have for video games is "flashy action games", then let's skip FF VII game and all embrace Candy Crush Saga. However, if you believe that the narrative aspect of games - as the gameplay aspect has never been neglected - can go beyond the wants of the average teenager and reach a population that is all but an "elite", then you might agree that no game is beyond critique. The way you type is just very pompous for an internet forum, and comes off as very snobby and elitist. Writing 101 - Know your audience. We are not your professor, nor someone you need to impress. Lay off on the pompous vocabulary, and word structure.
Also my comment was mostly aimed at you saying crisis core was made for someone too dumb or childish to understand final fantasy 7. I`ve never played it personally, but that's a very weird statement to make. Just because someone enjoyed crisis core does not mean they are either childish or too stupid to understand final fantasy 7. It just means they enjoyed crisis core.
Edit: To end off on a lighter note because my post really does look like an attack on you, when it is not. I just found your posts a bit irritating to read. Your english is very good. For someone whose native language isn't english, I'm very impressed.

wat Well young'un, let me tell you about growing up in the 90's. See, we kids were all techy and smart, but our parents, no sir, they didn't know all these fancy com-pooter things. They heard all about them on those big CRTVs of theirs, but owning one? That was for them fancy folks. The internet? God help you son if you on that thing when daddy wanted to make a call. Cell phones? You're damn right I'll put you in a cell if you're runnin' up that phone bill. But sure enough, even parents gave in to the fancy machinery of the future, and if you were a kid with a big powerful 386, then those were exciting times. But those big boxes cost as much as a used car, and dang-nabbit, they were going to last as long as that. 486? 586? These numbers are moving too fast, why upgrade when the old one was just as good for pushing buttons. Now, along comes 1998, and it was a glorious year. You see, them PC games were getting fancy now, with millions of colours and big, beautiful, blocky 3D. And as a kid, it was your God given duty to have a computer that could play all these big games like Final Fantasy 7. So you cinched in your belt, tied your shoes on real tight, and asked your parents for a real computer, like a Pentium II. And when they asked you why, you bit your tongue and told the biggest lie of your life: "It's for homework."And that, youngster, is how you played Final Fantasy 7 on PC.
8\8 would nominate for Pulitzer

I really hope that they keep the game as it was. Like not changing the battle system. That would really suck.

My parents are both computer engineers, they knew how fast computers were outdated, no need to spend so much bucks on any if you get it at half the price 6 months later or 1/4 the next year. The old times when consoles were more powerful than most computers.

Pretty much guaranteed there will be a new battle system seeing how graphics etc have made leaps and bounds since the first release on PS1.

I hope they keep all music(updated) and it's places when they're played.

Alright, so I bought FF7 in steam and have been re-playing it for the last couple of days..
Oh man, they put themselves in a corner no one will be happy with the remake.
In this thread I said that a crisis core like combat would be nice. I was thinking about maybe having Cloud and forming a party of 3, where you can be fighting a cloud and then in a single fight change and play as Tifa and then change and play as Barret, and stuff like that bt after replaying the game I've realized that the way the combat is was a big part of what made the game great. I remember the way the combat was and it was cool, but actually going back and playing it you start to realize a lot of stuff that you might have not remembered, a lot of times the battle system even fits with the general gameplay in a certain way...No one will be happy. If they change it people will be mad, if they leave it that way people will call them lazy, although now that I've replayed it I think they should keep it, at least they should keep it similar.
Also, I don't think they will have this weird view the game has, where sometimes is top down view, then its a side view and that kind of stuff. I hope it really goes well for them, but remaking this and pleasing fans will be hard as fuck.
_________ Edit, hwever I do hope they update the story a little, I've noticed some inconsistencies with the stories introduced on Advent children, Dirge and CC. So I believe they will change the story a little.

While I'd prefer to play in the original system, I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they did use a new one. If I had to guess, I would think that they're just gonna use FFXV's battle system, assuming the remake will be on the Luminous Studio engine. In my opinion, the best way to please all the fans is include two different modes - one mode for original gameplay and the other for new gameplay.

They would essentially be designing 2 games worth of encounters then. The systems would be different enough that any transference between them would be purely cosmetic.

There is really no point spending millions developing a new game if it's just to make an HD copy of 1997 gameplay. It's obvious to me that there at least will be a good amount of additional content (which the "fans" will still find a way to complain about) and almost surely a new party/battle system. Not expecting full turn-based either, probably something more action oriented. Imo turn-based RPG's are kinda outdated (and "classic" J-RPG are niche nowadays). You might as well turn your system into a full tactical RPG if you want to go turn-based, it produces way more interesting games.

I think there is a chance that this turns out badly for SquareEnix. All people, who are hyped because they played FF7 almost twenty years ago, will expect the remake to be more like the original. If they change to much around and don't deliver with the changed mechanics, people will be pissed.
I don't know how long ago the development started but somehow I have the feeling that SE is pretty clueless how to design the remake themselves. Expectations are through the roof. I hope they delive cause that's what that game deserves.

I think they should keep same battle mechanics, including the shattering glass/swirl into battle. As for ATB and fights itself, they can make it look like a fight scene from advant children with different angles and such, mutiple angles even for same move so it doesn't get stale. I think they kinda achieved that with 12 or something with seemless transition between character actions. Add that and movie like camera angles, fancy graphics and every fight can look like a movie

I have no idea why people think they should change one single fucking thing. Same battle system, same camera angles in each zone, same everything. Update the graphics/sound and call it a day. That's what a remake is. If you change core elements of the game, its no longer a true remake.

I'm one of the few people who still haven't finished the game. Now there's no reason to!

The FF7 fanboys are probably rabid enough that they'd buy the Special Addition and the Special Addition Director's Cut and the HD Remake and the Triple-HD Enhanced Director's Addition and keep asking for more, but that doesn't mean it should happen.

That's not a remake, that's a remaster.
And it's pretty much already confirmed to have changes, Nomura called it more of a "re-imagining" IIRC.
