edit: also, if you use raw input 1, your fps cap makes a difference in a way so make sure your settings are okay on that too. (fps_max 0 -or 999 or w/e- for unlocking)
Ok good to know, thanks a lot. Not sure what m_yaw is for so I won't touch that command, I don't wanna screw up anything. I also don't use raw input so I guess I'm good.

Yeah I was about to say something similar. Not sure where people get the idea that roles are defined like a class-based FPS. IMO, there's only 2 real roles in cs, the main awper and the IGL. Other than that, everyone will have different roles during the game and players will often fulfill more than one in a single round.

There are 'roles' as such, but they're most often positionally based and very map / team specific. It does make sense that you'd like your players to be attacking / defending the areas they're most comfortable (especially on CT).
For example, old NiP were /are probably one of the least flexible teams in terms of initial setups. They start off with the same generic positions, but it's their rotations and in-round reads that make them great.
e.g. Get Right plays outside on Nuke on CT, while Forest goes for the boost as T pretty much every round. On Inferno, Friberg is the typical entry fragger at banana, but on Nuke it was often Fifflaren going through radio / ramp.
That's not to say they don't mix it up, but you can quite easily identify their default setup on every map. The key is that while someone might favour a specific role on one map, they could equally play something completely different on another.
A team like Titan on the other hand are much more strat focussed, frequently trying to engineer scenarios for KennyS to go mental.

Yeah but even if they change which player will be playing which role in some certain maps, does not this give us there are "roles"? Friberg we say is the - Entry Fragger but probably would not prefer lurking type play. There is no class in this game, i understand this, but there are roles, right, and you are able to play every role during a round since the gametype is flexible compared to mobas?
And i dont see a lurker with M4A4 or i see some players are very bad when they have a position / role who is "rotating", hence they hold sites.

There's a difference between a role in a team where you have practiced certain T or CT strats, and "roles" like entry fragger or lurker. What happens when your so called entry fragger dies early? Or any of the "roles"? Does the plan just go up in smoke then? (Or running through smoke hue hue hue.) CS is about gaining info and making use of it. Taking risks that gives you the highest chance of winning the game. Suprising things tend to happen, and that's what makes CS exciting.
Somebody who is lurking are just that, a player who happens to be flanking or trying to be in an unexpected spot in an advantageous position. They aren't designated that role, they just happen to be doing it. They might be more skilled at that situation than other players, or they might be naturally disposed towards it. It doesn't mean that team has a plan for that player to be a lurker; he is simply doing what he thinks is best for that situation. Friberg for instance, if he is the first person to run into a site is most likely to be dead and in any case is in no position to flank since he would be sitting on the bomb site or running headlong into the rotation.
For a pro team, a role would be something like being on a CT B mirage jumping repeatedly for info, and the other guy supporting him somewhere else ready to throw a smoke when needed, or to rotate to A if needed. Or carefully throwing preassigned nades in a certain spot and order and running in. Those are roles for the payer in a preset plan in a team. The type of "roles" you have described don't really exist, they are just descriptions of what the player is doing at the time. The AWPer can be described as a role, but only it really will be the same player every round.

KennyS, professional carry for Titan

I don't understand your meaning? What's a carry?

Carry means to me that someone is getting all the kills, and by extension is the sole reason why the team is winning rounds. I really don't see how this is related to his qouting of a specific sentence of mine, hence the question.

Because Titan is unlike every other team in the game. Obviously there's a hierarchy in most teams, where you'll expect certain players do be doing better on average, but not to the extent of Titan.
Titan plan everything around Kenny. All their strats are based solely around getting Kenny into a position where he can do his thing. It's a unique position in CSGO because there's no combination anywhere else of a player who's single handedly capable of destroying another team, combined with a team who's willing to sacrifice their own plays to make it happen.

There are other teams that run a "star AWPer" sort of setup though. Imo it gets more attention because its flashy moreso than because it's terribly great or consistent. You'll see people dink the first two-three people rushing a site with a rifle to not much fanfare, but if ptr or someone drops multiple people rushing a site it looks a hell of a lot more impressive than the rifler's hold.

Hi, started playing a bit of cs with my friends in my spare time.
Simple question:
I'm planting the bomb at the very edge of a site, can i turn entire 360 degrees to look at my surroundings without interrupting the plant?
|
I dont think so.
btw you dont need to plant it at edges every time, most of the edges are widely exposed.

Newbie looking to buy CSGO.
I've read that CSGO goes on sale when tournaments are on and I see that ESL One Katowice is coming up soon. Does anyone know if there will be a sale during this time?
Thanks for your help!!

Don't have to plant at the edge of the site, but if you're at the very edge, the direction you look could affect whether or not you're in the bomb plant area.
Should go on sale on that Sunday. Maybe 50%.

I got a question about a certain value in the net_graph. There's a value named Var and I'm not entirely what it is. I did some testing recently and when I put my fps_max to something like 200+ the value change often and goes to something anywhere between 0.5 and 2 but when I put my fps_max to something like 65, the value stay in the 0.5 and rarely goes to 1+.
Does it affect anything gameplay wise, like bullet registration or something similar? Should I try to keep this value as low as possible?
|
That's variance. Your system struggles to keep 200+ fps constant but has no problems when fps_max is 65. It's very important to keep the variance as low as possible but if you're not noticing any microstutters or similar during gameplay, I'd personally prefer the higher FPS with slightly more var as opposed to 65 fps.

Var on net_graph is a server side thing—it's essentially a measure of how good the server is. The higher the variance, the worse shot registration will appear. You can't do anything about it, just report the ones which are 2+. Ideally you want servers where var is below 1

There's 2 vars the crazy munchkin. Pretty sure DPK is talking about the one next to FPS, not the server var. :p

Is this net_graph 1? I swear I've never seen it... :[ In that case then, it really doesn't matter at all then. As long as your FPS stays above 60 / 120 / 144 (depending on your monitor refresh rate) then all is good and you won't notice a thing.
Mine jumps around randomly from 150 to 300 all the time. Though capping the framerate does reduce the load on your graphics card, which is a good thing.
