Game Mode: Survival Minecraft Difficulty: Hard Mod Difficulty: NormalTPPI is a mod pack for Minecraft. It combines most of the cool mods out there to industrialize Minecraft! It adds a ton of new items, blocks, recipes and things to do! With it, you can automate almost everything, from wheat farms to piping, sorting and crafting. You will be able to make factories, oil refineries, nuclear plants and more! In general, modded servers last about 2-4 months. This is due to new minecraft and mod versions, players reaching endgame and new games coming out. Due to the nature of mod versions, item ids etc, its not useful to keep world files around. So if you make some cool builds and bases, make lots of screenshots! This way you will always be able to look back at what you made. It's also always fun to see what other players make and it can inspire others! For new players:All these mods can be overwhelming. Try to follow a guide, a let's player, or simply stick to 1 mod at a time to get started. You'll get the hang of it quick enough. There are a ton of resources available on the internet. Wiki's, reddit, forums, youtube and more. But we also have many experienced players who can possibly help you. I'll link a bunch of useful sites at the bottom of this post. Some general modded server etiquette: Don't build near other players. This will/might increase potential lag for both of you as both bases will be loaded. The world is infinite and there are many teleport or fast travel options available. Don't borrow/take items unless you know it's ok. Maybe even leave a message. Travel a decent distance from the hub in the mining world before you quarry. (consider advancing to the ender quarry if you can. (it's super server friendly)) Travel a decent distance from nether spawn location before you drain all the lava. (consider advancing to the ender pump if you can. (it's super server friendly)) Nether Fortresses are somewhat limited, try to share some of its special resources. We only have 1 end. Try to make an event out of killing the end dragon with a group (ender expansion mod makes the dragon a worthy opponent), and leave some end resources for other players Be careful with villagers in 1.6. Zombie path finding can bring down the server if done incorrectly. zombie villager pathfindingServer Information:Backups are made every 3 hours. Chunkloaders stay active for 48hours after logging off. Gregtech is limited to IC2 and BC quarry recipes. mobGriefing is false, creepers won't blow up your machines PvP is true, try not to kill each other. We will have a dedicated mining age. Mystcraft is fully accessible except for the creation of new worlds. Modded Minecraft has a lot of cool features, but they can be hard on the server. Everything is enabled and allowed, to make those fun and crazy builds possible. But please show some restraint and be thoughtful of the server and the other players.Ore Distribution: TPPI Links:ModlistChangelogTPPI GitHubTPPI TwitterTexture Packs:Soartex x64 textures for TPPI[32x] Faithful - 1.6.4A Sphax Purebdcraft Resource Pack

In modded minecraft enderchests are really useful. You can color code them and put a diamond on them to make them personal. But, as diamonds are rare and valuable, how about we have everyone claim their own first 2 colors. This gives everyone 16 enderchest combination to their own, preventing accidental overlapping use. Need more? no problem! just claim another combination.
Available colors: Ender chest Ender tank
Current claimed color combinations:

As stated before, i would like to claim Red white X.
Furthermore, i am looking for someone or a few people who would be interested in some cooperative building. Basically, i don't really want to have one base on my own that noone ever comes to except once in a blue moon to spray slimy worms everywhere, i want a situation where when i am gone for a bit, someone has suddenly built a Skull Fortress in front of the door. Is anyone else interested in something like that?
|
I'm definitely down for doing some more collaboration this time around. I'll probably spend the first few days doing some basic resource gathering, but beyond that I think setting up a joint base would be more interesting in the long run.
|
I would like to join up with someone too, especially now that we have so many mods to play around with!
|
I'm down for some Collaboration, but I can't get a single player version of the mod set started... anyone else having trouble with it?
|
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m is really important. the pack requires about 2gb memory
|
Yeah, what Aixler says definitively helps. I have got it working now, had some problems with texture packs earlier. For some reason it broke when i used BDCraft 128, but with 64 it is fine.
Also, i don't know if this is normal, but there is a really large amount of scary text when loading this mappack, lots of yellow and even red in the console thingy. It appears to be working, but red text is scary.
|
Yea, I fiddled with the settings and got in. Some rather broken stuff... Ichor+ in Thaumic Tinkerer, some other stuff's pretty scary too.
Some of the new Thaumcraft stuff is very nice though.

Using Pioneer Terrain Survey I generated these maps: + Show Spoiler +4k radius, has a huge ocean near/around spawn dont like it + Show Spoiler +For a full size map, included mouseover coordinates & biome names, download this .jar: TPPI mapIt's a map with tiles and data. Open PioneerViewer.htm and it will load up the map for you to browse at your pleasure. 2k radius: I think i like top left the most so far. Might do a few more...

You guys decided to do TPPI, nice! This is the pack I've been playing for a couple of months, and I thoroughly enjoy it. I'll definitely join you guys for this. :D

So, for those who are interested in some collaboration, how do we want to go ahead with this?
Just build kind of a village somewhere with a few people? Or a communist utopia where all machines in the communal base are owned by the community? We should probably have some set of rough rules as to how to deal with stuff in general, otherwise people might get angry. Do we have any goals? Or do we just want to produce large amounts of steel so others realize how strong and wonderful our glorious workers paradise is?
Apparently if too much stuff is at the same place, that might lead to lag? I don't really know anything about that, so how many people would too many be? Do we need to split up into multiple camps?
|
Well, machine lag is an interesting thing.
I can tell you from experience that large numbers of active Creosote Ovens will murder your framerate. Similarly, large numbers of active IC2/GT machines will also negatively impact your framerate.
Large numbers of items bouncing around in Thermal Expansion pipes for extended periods will also lead to very hefty server lag, though not much FPS lag (items keep bouncing from pipe to pipe trying to find a port that will accept it, while more and more items get into the pipes). I basically pulled this off with a 20 or 40x4-ish grid of generators with accompanying piping running over several days.
I'm not sure what defines the area you need to worry about exactly. It's a pretty large area -- I would say at least a 10 chunk radius. A player keeps ~21 radius of chunks loaded (square), but I don't think what's loaded is necessarily what affects your FPS. I'm also not sure if it's limited to your sight radius, though.
In any event, this usually means it's better to make use of overclocked machines than to try and have hundreds of stock ones.
As far as collaborating, it really just depends on how much you want to slow/speed progression. The more you communitize the faster you'll exhaust the available content. Ultimately you're just playing at your own pace, so it's a mostly personal decision.

To be honest, they all look like some kind of green blobby rorshach test to me. I guess the last one would leave us with more land around spawn, which could be good? I honestly have no idea what is good or not in a map.
Different question, do we have any server specific rules? Last time we had 1 quarry/person, is there anything along those lines here?
|
- Don't build within 200 blocks of other players. - 1 quarry per person to start out with seems fair. This is too specific though, there are many ways to automate mining, so you'll have to keep the server in mind with whatever you do. We don't want players to listen to the 1 quarry rule and make 100 mining turtles as well, thinking:"I'm not breaking any rules". - Don't steal/grief etc. This includes pranks that are:"1% oh look this is the prank and 99% cleaning it up". The tact of pranking. - No hundreds of blocks long pipes. There are plenty of 'item teleport' options available. - Don't mass spill items or mobs on the floor, thousands of them can be bad for the server. Make sure your automated stuff has overflow protection. - Make lots of screenshots to share with your friends! It's fun to see peoples builds.
I don't really like specific rules. It's a combination of having fun, taking into account other players and the server, and not doing anything excessively stupid.
