HOW TO PLAY: Use your arrow keys to move the tiles. When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one!
Based on powers of 2 the game is simple enough after 5 in of messing around with it - gets exponentially harder though (seriously). I played for a bout half hour and got 6.7k with one or two 512 blocks.
Goal is to make a 2048 block. One of my friends said she beat it on her second day so game on TL. Whats your high score?
ps: link works on mobile too!
Edit: If you know the optimal way please spoiler it
Edit 2: Beat it :D + Show Spoiler +I just built to the left side. Was trying to build to a corner but was getting screwed by too much random spawning of 2s and 4s. Yeeeeeeeeee
|
Quite a fun game, beat it on my fifth try or so I think. Once you realise the optimal way to do this, all you really have to do is be a bit patient and try not to spam buttons to fast.
|
I played a bit but there is a bit too much luck factor in this game imo.
|
I've figured out some brute force techniques that can score a 2-3k game in about 10 seconds, but I've only been able to get to around 6-7k.
Interestingly if you had a 6x6 game board I think you could actually consistantly brute force the game
|
+ Show Spoiler +A way to beat the game is to keep your largest block in a corner once it reaches 256+ and then build a double line from it. For example, if you have 256 in the furtherest left corner, then you want a 128 block either above or to the right, then a 64 block then a 32 block. You use the rest of the spaces to build a 32 which you then chain double. Rinse and repeat with larger numbers.
Probably not the most optimum way to beat it, but I managed to hit 2048 several times and 4096 once using that method.

i use this method. sometimes you make mistakes but i think its the best way to manage the numbers

Its pretty easy when you figure out how to play and don't fuck up.. its just hard not to fuck up (like microing marines vs lurkers)

There's a minor amount of luck involved when you're dealing with 2048, but once you get consistent with the right strategy, it's relatively easy to hit. As you start going above 2048, it becomes more and more luck reliant.

+ Show Spoiler + ^ 3D ver, first try 8192 block is easily doable. I just made a mistake and then got tired of trying to salvage the situation :x
As for the original, did this earlier:

Beat the 3d version.. A lot easier i thought since there was so much more room to work with.
Fun games haha

Been attempting a 8192 on the original game for the last few days and just keep running into bad luck after 4096.
|
I got an 8192 on the original last night, with a score of 104540. Wondering if anyone knows of any higher scores.
|
Speaking of scores, I've passed 200 million points on 9007199254740992. Looks like it'll be a couple of nights before something interesting happens on the board.

We should start sharing some tips and making guides. Just reached what I believe to be the second highest score out there atm at 124032.
Do guides for other games belong in this subforum or in blog posts?

Had to play it once ofc. :x
The objective was to take the protoss technology a step further and reach the mothership. Due to a fatal mistake and rngods not smiling to us, we were in a situation that looked hopeless.
+ Show Spoiler +
However, with some luck and maneuvers never seen before in Aiur, the situation got perfectly salvaged and we were back in the game.
+ Show Spoiler +
Unfortunately, the joy got a bit out of hand as the mothership had finally arrived, and a sneaky ling managed to push our units in the wrong direction due to lack of concentration.
+ Show Spoiler +
GG, objective was met.

Stop making new versions of this. Q_Q It's addictive. Carbot cleared!

Wow 45836, that's like 15 times of my best score lol, you beat both rngods and this game! You, young Protoss is surely blessed by the Adun. For sure it's always that sneaky ling that changes the entire game.

Apparently, the people who made the game this copied are not amused.
Also apparently pressing up then right until you can't move then pressing left will get you a high score, who knew.

Along those lines threes is the better game for being simple, but challenging. They fixed/avoided the corner strategy (to an extent, corners are still very powerful) and the whole game is significantly tougher for it.

I didn't really like that post. It was "we are so above whinning, because we are so superior, but look, here you have some whine". Their only saving grace is that they are not running around suing everyone for "stealing" their idea.
The problem with Threes is simple - it exists only on smartphones and it costs (even though a completely irrelevant amount of) money. 2048 and endless clones is all over the web, for free and just one click away. That's why people now it better, end of story. Having the game paid is a completely legitimate way of business, particularly when the game is good and makes profit - but you just can't cry that it's not recognised enough, when the barrier responsible for that is of your own making!

I'm a very slow player and use this game to speed up my tapping hand, by getting to 100k score as fast as possible. (of course without using the move random tool). I'm at 7:30 minutes right now, but i think it can be much faster.

Well, I improved my score to 110k. + Show Spoiler +When I had a 2048 and a 1024 I had to press up and got a block under the 2048; I managed to get it back in the corner by pressing right when its row was full, then down; this left me with the 2048 and 1024 in the first and third spaces in the bottom row, which was recoverable.
Here are some screenshots, lol. http://imgur.com/a/i8IBZ

I wish this was an app lol

Someone should make a version where the randomness is the "worst" case scenario.
|
I don't have patience for it. Failed shortly after 2048.
|
My girlfriend got 10,000+ on this. She doesn't game at all, but she was mad dedicated to playing this. Now I can't beat it ): I barely get past 3k

Edit: 112k. + Show Spoiler + If a 2 instead of a 4 had spawned in the lower left corner I would have almost certainly had an 8192 and 2048.
Another edit: 168k! Again with the 4s spawning, messing up my plans. (I got in a few more moves after this time, then ended up in a position where I needed a 4 to spawn and of course got a 2.

My highest score:

I've met a couple people who remove the random factor by duplicating tabs until they get the optimal spawn. I've seen them get to at least 2^14 (16384) this way. Personally I think this undercuts the skill involved in playing the game; what do you guys think?

I won't brag...I'm just happy I finally beat this game. My method up until this point depended on generally being able to move blocks left and down so that they all grew in a corner. But when I couldn't push the blocks left/down anymore, I would have to risk the whole setup by moving up or right.
Well I tried something different finally. I suppose I need to spoiler this as the OP requested, so here we go. I hope this wasn't obvious to everyone else, something tells me it probably was. But it worked on my second try as opposed to the corner method, so I think it was a good idea:
+ Show Spoiler +Apparently, shaking the blocks left and right works really nicely. I think its because it gives me an extra degree of motion (left, right, down) that allows me some more freedom of movement, and so they end up slotting into the bottom much more easily. You only have to beware of situations in which every line is completely saturated and can't be moved left/right, at which point moving the whole board up will severely mess up your game.
Oh yeah, and you kind of need to make sure the bottom line is completely saturated so it can't slide left/right. I think its easier to slot the numbers in on the right and double them up as you move them to the left. Otherwise you'll have two numbers that could have doubled together on either side of a larger number, which is not very space efficient.
Anyway, I only made it up to 29000, but I'm glad I solved this puzzle game.
I look forward to the next TL puzzle challenge! :D.
