Those 250k are crowd funded through ingame purchases of "Esports Cases and Esports Keys" which unlock gun skins. This is the second 250k CSGO tournament funded by this, the first was DH Winter That's really cool. Is SC2 the only esport that doesn't ustilise crowd funding now? Sure seems like it. Valve in particular is very good at this. Hats sells! And if we can support e-sports in the process it's awesome! Valve (L), they single handedly brought CSGO back from the dead, between weapon paints, GOTV, a much better matchmaking system and big tournaments, CSGO its bigger than ever... i mean, 150k players peak ? are you kidding me ? this game had like less than 10-15k a year ago or so

and they are doing very well with dota too, gabe newell's mind is beyond the human understanding

Yea it's rather funny how the advancements they did in Dota 2 have actually allowed CSGO to become so big. Valve doing such a great job for esports

Its amazing how much they achieved by giving us different coloured guns. And stickers!

To be fair, FPS as esports had had a very long hiatus, it is about time one raised enough interest.

Just on official twitch streams. I think there are language restreams and GOTV not included too.

I'd be surprised if NiP win Inferno, even if they should be heavily favoured on it. Pasza and sNax are just running so hot, too much of NiP running cold.

So how did CSGO get so big all of a sudden?I know crowdfunding and such are nice for the people already playing the game but I don't understand where all the viewer numbers or players come from because unless they changed something about the game CSGO has a super high learning curve.
Anyway hoping for VP to pull through.

Anyway hoping for VP to pull through. Everybody has played some cs at some point, they managed to reach all those people with 250k$ well produced tournaments

That big jump from 40-90k was DHW. It is definitely the tournaments.

The learning curve is well a learning curve lol. Sure it's super hard at the top level but low level you don't actually need to know much.

Considering the last ''competitive'' shooter I played was Quake and I played a variety of CoD games before firing up CSGO after a while its quite hard for me ;;. So they succesfully pulled the 1.6 community to CSGO?

I'm also surprised as it got a lot of shit when it came out. No 1.6 player wanted to switch and it was said to be still born. They must have been working hard on it.

Pause due to NIP sound problems.
