Why do you ready check. You have voice comms. I say tactics, then we say ok lets go then i /dbm pull 10. Everyone is ready, you wipe you get buff up say why you wiped go again with /dbm pull. It waste of time to ready check when NO ONE should be afk'n lol :S

When everyone is paying attention and ready to go (assuming a 10 man or 13 man flex or whatever) a ready check takes roughly 5 seconds to complete. If it is successful, there is almost a guarantee that everyone will start doing their job at the pull. If it isn't successful, for whatever reason, there is a much higher probability of something going wrong during the pull. I don't really see the disadvantage of a ready check. The only thing I can think of is if someone needs like 15 more seconds before they are truly ready, but don't want to click 'no' so they click yes and then are kinda rushed with the pull. Not a big problem imo.

Just annoying to /readycheck then /dbmpull8/9/10 whatever you pull on. Just adds another 1minute to the preparation after a wipe xD

Just my opinion though others seem different.

So you wipe. Everyone runs back, some slackers don't even do that, your all up and eating. 30 seconds gone, you then ready check this takes another 10-15 seconds. 45 seconds gone. For you to then type /dbm pull 10 = 55 seconds. Round up 1 minutes gone.

That was my workings

Instead you jump straight from wipe into buff/food you say on voice comms to then /dbm pull 10 and away you go. Don't give people chance to afk on you is my way of dealing with that xD

Plus our skype chat (our voice comms) keep everyone entertained throughout the raid xD

But everyone is still eating (and buffing) either way. You still use the pull timer either way. The ready check costs and additional 5-10 seconds (if it's taking 10-15 seconds someone is doing something wrong). Therefore, the question is whether it is worth 5-10 seconds to ensure everyone is ready. Unfortunately during our raids we occasionally have people who temporarily disconnect from the raid, so I think the ready check is a very good idea. Of course, there are other reasons why someone might not be 'ready' as well. Keep in mind, even if people are usually ready, if occasionally someone wasn't ready and this ultimately causes a wipe, you lose WAY more than 5-10 seconds fighting, running back, eating, etc.

I mean, do your raids however you want. It just seems weird to me that it would be argued ready checks take too long to be worth it.

Yeah if you have issues with DCs then it is defo worth doing it. But again our raids everyone is actively talking on Skype together so we will know if someone DCd (which touch wood has not happened yet). Also if someone did have to "BRB" they say on Skype so we hear.
I guess it just diffo ways of raiding due to some of your members connect from different areas of the world to play on NA realms. We are all EU so i guess its more stable?

No idea. Although I'd think voice chat would not be a good way to catch if someone temporarily disconnects.. I mean it's not like you will say "Bobby hasn't said anything in the last 10 seconds he might be disconnected."

Speaking of the skype conversations, what part of the UK are you from? I had a surprisingly hard time understanding you guys, which is quite rare for me when it comes to English. I guess it's just a matter of getting used to, but it would be interesting to know if you have some specific dialect or such.

We from all over. Tidz is from Leeds (North) Me and Xento from West Midlands near Birmingham. Kadiz is from North London!
So a very vast array of English might be the cause of some crazy dialect

Just type in raid chat if you fail to understand anything xD

Openraid got me to 545 despite my godawful schedule for raiding. The only downside is that most of them have ridiculous ilvl requirements for flex, but it's still a good place to pug.

I used to love open raid. Its not what it used to be though. Everyone has jumped ship to oqueue it seems. Its still OK for planned raids but because of my schedule I need impromptu groups. Open raid used to have a very solid quick raid feature but nobody uses it anymore. Its a shame.

Back in the day I would just form a pug in trade chat and things.would go smooth as butter but because blizzard decided to remove server communities over the years a trade pug is just as coin flip as oq now.

Personally I can't wait for ever quest next simply because eq games have always put community first and its such an amazing experience. Here's to hoping these tl guilds can somewhat emulate that feeling in wod.
