It has a very good ranking/ladder system and it merges players from all over the world. Regardless of where you are at, you can play with Asians, Europeans, Americans etc. on a reasonable ping. From new players to the best pro players, everyone who wants ladder games play or should play there. It also has seasons and final tournaments for the top ranked players at the end of the season. Actually season 9 tournament is this weekend. You can watch on https://www.twitch.tv/back2warcraft if you want, legends and famous players will play it p.s. here is the participants' list: https://liquipedia.net/warcraft/W3Champions_Finals/Season_9/1v1 (and the 1st part of the bracket as well) Ohh interesting, do you know if Netease is used much by people outside China?

I haven’t paid attention to wc3 since….well reforged and its reception killed me on the inside. How has the recent balance patches been received? Super excited for the WCL starting up soon!!

i'll believe that when or.. IF I'll see the results.
That's the best option, atm imo.

There hasn't been any patch or even a community update since pretty much launch.

There have been several good balance patches after the reforged release. But they didnt adress any issues besides that, and didnt patch anything for almost a year now (which is basically the same as it was for most of the pre-reforged-era).

Hopefully it's true, would be great obviously!

Not going to say I’m hopeful, but I’m intrigued

Hello Warcraft III: Reforged players,
We’ve recently begun public testing of our next update to Warcraft III: Reforged – version 1.33.0. This update focuses on three features: Ranked Play, Leaderboards, and Player Profiles. We expect to test the new version for 2-3 weeks to gather data, receive feedback from testers, and stress-test the new systems. Thank you very much for testing this patch with us!

Warcraft III: Reforged Patch Notes Version 1.33.0 Ranked Play
Players may now choose between Ranked and Unranked Play. Seasons are now available. When a Season ends, the ladder will reset, and players will be able to see their history via their Profile and the Leaderboards. Your matchmaking rating (MMR) is unique for race, including Random. To be placed, players must play 5 placement matches per race. After playing a Ranked Match, you’ll be taken to a post-game screen which will display your MMR change and rankings. The available Ranks are: Unranked Combatant Challenger Rival Duelist Elite Gladiator Champion Leaderboards
Players can now view their rank in the Leaderboard section, which can be accessed from the Versus screen. In the Leaderboard, you can filter by user-names, and sort between race and mode. Player Profiles
You can now access your profile by right-clicking on the player icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Access other players’ profiles by right-clicking on their name and selecting “View Profile”. Reforged Campaign
Numerous tuning and balance adjustments have been made to multiple campaign maps.

Letz just hope that it doesn't f***up the w3c client.

knowing blizzard these days, they'll put out a cease and desist to the w3c team and kill the game off.
|
Afraid GTR is using foresight on this, I've installed the w3c client after watching Grubby and Tod play for a few weeks and I have been having a lot of fun in team games with it.
The zoom function or worker counts are good QoL improvements with added value. These cannot be found on the Blizz version.
Cease and desist would be such a sad occurrence

My hope is that they want to avoid any bad publicity that would come with shutting down w3c, since this would most certainly would make waves far beyond the wc3 community. When they cease-and-desisted Nostalrius (popular 3rd-party-wow-server), there was a least a sensible business logic behind it, since many of the players there might turn into paying wow subscribers. For w3c I'm not seeing this since wc3 isnt subscription based. If anything, blizzard might even be financially benefitting from w3c's existence, since it gives people an incentive to buy wc3, though probably not on a substantial level.

The games are setup through the official client using custom games that are hosted by the w3c host. This isn't w3a anymore where the game is hosted without a license/cd key.

So besides the features that they have announced, what other features are missing now?
