gah. I know what you mean and it can be done but its not really bunny hop, which #2 said it cant be done in versions after 1.3. However you can almost do it now adays but its impossible to describe with words imo ;o you kind of have to get the exact timing + jump a little sidewards and turn at the same time ~~ etc-_-v

You still can, its just not as easy.

It will take hours and hours and hours of practice. So be prepared.

Do you know how to air strafe? It is basically the same idea.

some people find it better to rebind jump to mouse3, although spacebar will still work.

first get at least a little speed, jump, and move your mouse to the right while at the same time hitting the 'd' key. Then the moment you land, do the opposite motion.

You can usually only get 2-3 bounces before stopping, but thats how people bunnyhop in 1.6. If you are doing it right, you should notice a huge acceleration on your first hop.

in addition to fusionsdf's explanation, people nowadays usually bind their mousewheel to jump (either up, down, or even both directions) and use that as jump. it really makes the timing of hitting jump as you land easier, and lets you bunnyhop repeatedly with ease.

bunnyhopping consecutively with a spacebar is kinda tricky, but it is still possible. otherwise, mousewheel is the way to go

its nothing like 1.3 bunnyhopping though

also, if you downloaded warsow (look here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=41292 ) you can start practicing bunnyhopping there. you will get much faster rewards in warsow which will keep you motivated. after you can do it there, move on to quake world or hl1:dm and then onto cs.

Second post explains a little. Is for natural selection, but it works the same way.

In cs is much harder to do, and you gain speed for only 2-3 jumps usually, but it can save you, helps to take cover really quick around a corner, helps reach certain places (nuke's roof) and some more stuff.

it's like the QW (Q1) jump system, just you've gotta have better timing to try and trick the tweaked engine as bunny hopping was not meant to be done in cs

in console type
bind mwheeldown "+jump"
or
bind mwheelup "+jump"

then run straight, start strafing left+holding forward for a second, and then jump and release your forward button. turn your mouse a little to the left, and as you're about to land, use your mouse wheel to scroll down (or up, whichever one you bound it to) and switch your stafing to the opposite direction (in this case, strafe right) and turn your mouse a little to the right.

there have been many similar threads about this on www.GotFrag.com - use the search engine and just type "bunny" and I'm sure you'll figure this out eventually. Bhopping really isn't very hard at all and it's kind of nice to use when you need to avoid being hit (playing awp_snowsk337 and trying to knife an awper or when you're on de_dust2 as Terrorist and you're running to A from Long A and you need to get past the gap without the AWPer near B picking you off. Bhopping makes you a pretty hard target to hit)

hope I've helped :0

basically milktoast got it.

you can bhop in 1.6 but you wont accelerate faster than you normally would. Its good for knifing or dodging awp shots or just being leet..''

lol bunnyhoppers are the easiest things to hit

The idea is that in the original HL you accelerate differently in the air, and so you can get (say) to the tunnels on de_dust more quickly than you normally would. That makes rushing strategies more powerful because you can get off some flashes and be in the site before the other team.

Never seen it done properly or to any effect in source. Also, if you are any good with an AWP you will just predict where they will land and fire off as they descend.
I oink therefore I ham.

All of those who bunnyjump continously today uses script, which spams several jumps when you press the jumpbutton. This way, getting perfect timing is much much much easier, and if you see someone pulling off more than 3 jumps in a row without losing any speed, then he uses a script like this.

To those who disagree with me I can just say, don't bother telling anyone that you can pull it off without losing speed without a script, cuz it's just not possible. After a couple of jumps, much of your speed will be gone.

It is not allowed in most forms of competition, so I don't use it.

How to do it manually?

1) run forward
2) jump and ...
3) immediately release forward button (w) and
4) immediately press the strafebutton (a or d) and slowly turn in the same direction (with mouse, and it must be a rather slow and continous turn) you are strafing in the air.
5) just before you land release the strafebutton and
6) press jump again a split second after you landed, then repeat from 4-6.

You won't be able to travel any faster since 1.3, so the only tactical use left is to quickly get behind cover, like jumpstrafing around a corner when fleeing so that you'll be harder to hit, or pass through vents more quickly etc. On certain maps you'll be able to clear jumps otherwise not possible as well.

But as always, learn how to play default. Only crappy players relys on scripts, and variable abuse, and config tweaks.
I wouldn´t call him stupid, but let´s just say he´s unlucky when thinking...

Most Main+ players can bunnyhop without scripts, and one of my friends can do it almost continuously (again you dont get the acceleration you did in 1.3). It just takes hours upon hours of practice.

There aren't many places (in CSS maps) that you need bunnyhop to reach. The only one I can think of is the crate at B on cbble.

But you need to do a (i dont know the english name for it) special movement before the jump to gain momentum. Most good bhoppers do this trick before begging to bunny hop to jump further...

3) is wrong no?
bunnyhopping is done without moveforward in qw, hl1 and cs.
the way you described only works in q2, q3 and q4 (doom3, prey).

no u can just go on the roof right before the redrock (not hte highest) and run straight then strafe a bit right and jump strafing right and eventually turning perpendicular to the red rock
[image loading]

unless thats what u mean

Advanced Gliding
Due to the fact that gliding's speed is created solely on the jump's approach, you will not be accelerating in midair... but at this point, nothing is preventing you from using bhop aircontrol mechanics to further your initial glide jump before you hit the ground. After having made the turn+jump for your Glide, ease off your 'Forward' key, switch to your opposite strafe, and make a very gradual bhop mouse arc before you land. (Fig.2) From here you, can move into a regular full bhop motion to maintain and further increase your speed.

What you are doing to reach the redrock is Glide, which is that turny jump

Make sure you are playing on a CS server that has the bunnyhop mod installed, and then use the instructions that Luhh posted to bunnyhop.

it uses the same phyics glitch, but its not quite the same if you look at it closely.

strafe jumping is the same thing as bunnyhopping

its the same concept, bunnyhopping is strafejumping over and over again

theres nothing to it, it just takes practice
