If you log out while handcuffed, your character dies. Its exactly to stop combat logging. The game crashing in that situation sucks though. | ||

Then I get a message "You are getting handcuffed" or something like that and I PANIC and I sprint up the stairs and down a long hallway but it's a dead end, there is nowhere I can go. I get out my brand new SKS (which was what I was looking at in a tab) and I aim down the hallway. One guy enters the hallway from the stairs and I give him 10 shots in the face and he falls down. I quickly switch to my FNX45 and the other guy starts shooting at me and I shoot back but we both miss. I'm out of ammo on both my weapons and I need try to find cover, enter one of the side rooms and rearm. They yell at me that I am an asshole because I started shooting at them before they tried to handcuff me and then I yell back that I was there and that's really not true because they tried handcuffing me before I started shooting and then they're like "Yea that's right". lol So I reload my weapons and tell the last guy to go away because I don't want to fight but I know that I'm not going to trust him at all. I also get super paranoid because I saw in the Pyrion Flax video that you can ghost and shit like that and I don't want that to happen. I consider logging out but while this is scary as hell it's also really exciting and I don't really want to be an abuser. Suddenly I hear loud noises, loud chewing noises. Someone is eating? I decide to just go for it while the guy is eating and the rest of what happens is a little blurry even though it was like 10 minutes ago. In the hallway, I expect to see a corpse of the guy I shot but there isn't any. Apparently you don't die from 10 SKS shots. I decide to enter the next side room and when I go through the door, asshole is crouching in the corner eating. Well I'm not gonna let him reanimate on me again so 10 SKS rounds later I take out my axe and I spend a good 15 seconds making sure he is absolutely dead. Then I think I just take out my FNX45 again and run out the door to the stairs and the other guy is standing there but he's not reacting. They started this fight so I have no sympathy and there will be no mercy. I empty my FNX45 into his face. And then things get friendly. I actually want to just get the hell out of there but before I go I tell them that I just wanted to be friendly and wouldn't have done anything if they hadn't tried to handcuff me. The guy tells me "Yea, but you didn't have to kill my friend". Pretty sure his friend was the one who got the axe because he has got to be dead for realsies. I tell him that I didn't mean to kill anyone but this was my first game and I had no choice, I'm not an asshole or I would kill him as well and loot them but I just want to get out of there. We chat around for a bit before I decide that I have got to get out of there, they could have a ghost army coming for me or something. I run away and realize that I am not even bleeding, I am actually still healthy so they didn't even hit me. Must be divine providence or whatever that a newbie like me aces his first real gun fight. Anyway, the fighting in this game is INTENSE. Pyrion Flax said some people call this a hiking simulator because you spend a lot of time running around but this really just makes the fighting that much more interesting. You keep thinking that one mistake and you might have wasted all that time you spent running from town to town trying to stay alive, and the other guy is thinking that very same thing as well. Makes fighting a lot less LEEROY. If they get rid of all the stupid abuse (how the fuck can I hear a guy eating canned beans 2 rooms away) and give people a little more incentive to not just open fire (make ammo rarer? i like how gear is destroyed by damage so riddling someone with bullets for loot is not so viable) then this game might turn out to be alright. | ||

You can log out in the middle of a firefight right now if you don't think you stand a chance. 90% of the time firefights can either be turned around somehow or you die immediately, so it doesn't matter that much. The few times people do combat log is usually when you try to work out peacefully and speak to them first.. When you get handcuffed you can either have someone else use keys to open them for you, or you can break out of them with some work. When you are handcuffed, people can do whatever they want with you. Loot all your stuff (including your clothes), or force feed you..stuff. What P-flax was probably talking about was the episode of dayz Morgan Freeman got handcuffed by a bunch of guys and hilarity ensues. I suggest looking that whole series up on youtube. | ||

And yes, fighting in this game is addictive from the sheer intensity and excitement. It's not like call of duty where all that matters is your kill-death ratio. You need to live above anything else, because getting stuff can take a really long time. So when the hunt is on, its thrilling as hell. | ||

It's just another way to play this game that makes it less call of duty and more of the zombie survival game it really is. Neighing..? I have no idea what you're talking about. Never heard horses in this game. Safe to bet they wont be around for a while either, if ever. Would be a nice addition, but too much work since the Arma game that is at its core doesn't have horses either (as far as I know anyways). Weird noises you hear is probably the "server wide sound" bug that is really irritating me at the moment. Every time a zombie shrieks, someone takes a drink, loads their gun or anything, there's a very small chance that the first 0.5 seconds of the sound is broadcasted to the entire server. Nothing is more irritating than hearing constant drinking noises and not knowing if there is someone around you or if its the bug. Not sure if patched yet, but rabbits also used to have the soundboard from zombies sometimes. Its hilarious :D | ||

Hit it right on the head. Is DayZ a fps? No. If you want a fps there are a million better choices. But if you want to get ur blood pumping to the point of nearly passing out.. dayZ is for u | ||

By the way I can't understand why they didn't use arma 3 engine rather than take on helicopter's or whatever it is. It looks even more amazing and there were none of the laggs and clunkiness of DayZ SA in the mods I tried, on 60 to 100 people servers... | ||

 Friend of mine logged into his server, realized that it was almost empty, only 4 people on it. Steps out of the building he is in and sees 2 players. They shoot him. I lock onto a server with 20 people, i am on the second floor of a building in Beresino and there is a guy in front of me, looting it. | ||
