By the way, a question for neal : have you played in worlds with weird physics and stuff, where some really wacky stuff can happen out of the control of the characters? And what happens when parties wipe? Can they go to, say, the underworld, and start anew in a completely different world, or would you be forced to just make new characters? | ||

Penny Arcade/PvP DnD podcast, I now listen to Nerd Poker. Its Brian Posehn and friends' DnD adventures. They really showcase the whole "having fun > rules" even in 4th edition. They are all pretty hysterical, one of em is obnoxious and not funny..but he occasionally makes a good joke even. | ||

Unfortunate side effect was that they ended up largely as tools for twinking a hybrid class combo greater than the sum of its parts (arcane/divine) or some other extremely specialized one-trick pony. Most of these players had little justification for their wizard suddenly finding religion or whatever other than they needed it for their "build" (which can be fun in a high-stakes "optimized" difficulty campaign where everybody has spent a week researching their character plans but I digress). | ||
