It's possible that they vastly expanded the list of Pokemon that get it via egg move, but in Gen 5, the egg move Defog learners were for the most part irrelevant Pokemon, and Skarmory wasn't one of them.

There are probably some things that Game Freak changed their minds about with regard to what moves Pokemon should and shouldn't have access to ("Maybe it wasn't a good idea to let Dragonite learn Extremespeed...") so this is their way of trying to limit availability of those moves without outright making older gen Pokemon incompatible with newer games. Simulators assume that everything that's possible is usable, but GF obviously doesn't balance around simulators.

a large portion of comp players in gen4/5 cheated for them since breeding was such a pain edit: i mean idk, unless they change trade mechanics (drop all old moves or something) or make a pokecheck which can detect "legitimate" cheated pokemon (which i doubt is even possible) there's still gonna be hacked mons as soon as pokebank is open

Then since blaze is prob ubers could Lucario(Mega) fit that spot. Assuming he also doesn't end up in ubers? I would still need to figure out what to do without adding more steel types to the mix lol.

252 Atk Adaptability Lucario Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Scizor: 284-336 (82.79 - 97.95%) -- 68.75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock 252 Atk Adaptability Lucario Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 162-192 (48.5 - 57.48%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock try not to worry so much about making a perfect team, it's pretty much impossible and there are a lot of pokes that are interchangeable between teams anyway edit: er by interchangeable between teams i mean if you breed a perfect timid starmie and don't end up using it on team A you can always use it on team B

Currently I'm planning to run a dedicated baton pass team: + Show Spoiler + 1. Espeon (lead) Nature: Timid Ability: Magic Bounce 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD -Baton Pass -Reflect -Light Screen -Stored Power Item: Light Clay 2. Blaziken Nature: Adamant/Jolly Nature Ability: Speed Boost 252 ATK 252 / Speed 4 HP -High Jump Kick -Flare Blitz -Baton Pass -Swords Dance Item:Life Orb 3. Scolipede Nature: Jolly Nature Ability: Speed Boost 252HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe -MegaHornn -Substitute -Bulk Up -Baton Pass Item: Focus Slash 4. Mawile (Mega) Nature: Adamant Ability: Intimidate -> Huge Power 252 Atk / 172 Def / 84 Spe -Sucker Punch -Play Rough -Baton Pass -Bulk Up Item: Mega Stone 5. Hydreigon Nature: Timid Ability: Levitate 4hp / 252 SpA / 252 Spe -Draco Meteor -Fire Blast -Earthquake -Stone Edge Item: Expert Belt 6. Vaporeon Nature: Bold Ability: Water Absorb 244 HP / 136 Def / 128 Spe -Baton Pass -Acid Armour -Wish -Scald Item: Leftovers So I decided on this line up to try and battle against my friend's team of + Show Spoiler + garchomp gengar charizard lucario jolteon greninja (TBD) He generally just chose non-legendary pokemons and will probably build them with a sweeper/boost set of some sort. The idea is to lead with Espeon and set up dual screen and then BP out to either Blaziken for an immediate sweep or any of the other booster depending on the situation. Vaporeon is there for wish support and extra def boost. When enough boost is acquired switch Hydreigon to mow down everything as the final sweeper. Any ideas or suggestion would be greatly appreciated as i'm pretty noob and my only source has been smogon and lurking the pokemon thread =s

If he's expecting Baton Pass, your friend will probably put Roar on Garchomp and Charizard, which would stop your team easily. In addition, while it may not be relevant to this match, all sound moves now go through Substitute. This alone almost makes Mr. Mime's Soundproof ability necessary unless you want to die to stuff like Noivern's Boomburst/Roar. I personally run a Noivern over Latios almost exclusively for this reason (and because Gliscor...).

Rufflet is also pretty damn useful :D

My idea: Tyrantrum Adamant (+Atk, -SAtk) 252 Attack, X in Bulk, X in Speed - Stealth Rocks I can calculate the optimal speed IV for certain numbers given X boosts and no boosts later but I was curious about the rest of his moveset. He has the weird/new Strong Jaw ability that makes fangs essentially moves with a stab bonus. I was thinking - Head Smash 150 + 75 = 225 Power (But miss + recoil) - Ice Fang 65 + 33 = 98 Power - Fire Fang 65 + 33 = 98 Power Other options, although I'm not sure since he gets such weird strong coverages - Crunch 80 + 40 = 120 Power - Poison Fang 50 + 25 = 75 - Thunder Fang 65 + 33 = 98 Power - Dragon Claw 80 + 40 = 120 Power - Earthquake 100 = 100 Power Thoughts?
