If people are addicted to video games, its either World of Warcraft or Football Manager. For the first time, people who pre-order will get access to the FM13 beta up until launch. Save data from the beta will be compatible with the final version.
The interface has been revamped once again, and there are many new features including different game modes, more staff options and managing taxes (oh how fun is that...).
I tried this game last year, and I spent 4 months playing this game, then I had to uninstall because I was quite addicted to it >.<. Is that site safe to pay through?
I'm so gonna crush face with my normal teams. With the depths of Fiorentina this year, it's going to be so easy to make top 3 and roll faces afterwards with the Champion's league money. And I won't mention Chelsea
However I'm puzzled as to why FM13 isn't out yet. I thought the release date always was beginning of October.
Mind if I ask what some of the stats are for some of the best South Korean players, particularly Ki Sung Yong, Son Heung Min, Hong Jeong Ho, and maybe a few others? I almost always manage South Korea to a good world cup finish
I tried FM 2012 demo and didn't really know what I was doing >.>. (I did win half the games and just let my assistance suggest me individual training.)
There wasn't any FAQs up on gamefaqs (at least 2012, last I checked) and I'm too lazy to watch a video of someone else playing it.

The core of the game really is fixing tactics and making player selections and dealing with transfers. Everything else you'll pretty much pick up on the fly... eventually.
For a very long time (several titles in the series in fact), I would never even look into the training screen and just kept it running on default.

Same here, but once I learned the training screen I realized how much potential I wasted. A good youth development program + a five star training schedule can make you a ton of money.
Do any of you guys use FMscout? I've been playing the game since CM 4 and have always used some kind of program to see CA/PA, some say it's cheating but I like to be a perfectionist about the game so I can't do without it. I realize it does make the game less fun especially in longer saves when the regen quality goes downhill. It's also painful to ignore a player that has one or two faults but is otherwise perfect.
I'm looking forward to this game but I feel like in the past few years the series overall has not changed very much but have just recycled the old game with a new database and a 3D match engine that I never use. I would like to see some changes to the tutoring system to make it less random, a more detailed explanation on player personalities and how they affect growth, and most importantly a revamp to the CA/PA system so that players' potentials are not set in stone.
I always play the first save as Man Utd until I win everything every season, which has become more and more difficult. I don't really understand how people can have a 10+ season save with a big club since you are able to assemble a perfect squad very quickly and win everything so that it becomes kind of boring. I hope they restructure the Glazers's debt so that it becomes possible to to actually pay it off.
Every year in the past the game will have a lot of bugs until at least the first big patch. It's nice they are doing a beta this year so that the release game won't have as many problems. Might play the beta anyway just to see the new databases. Thank for that link GTR.

I uses FMscout some in FM12. For me it took out some of the enjoyment of the game though so i stopped.
Oh and what does "I realize it does make the game less fun especially in longer saves when the regen quality goes downhill" mean?
The overall regen quality will always decline in longer saves compared to the youth players of the first few years. The newer regens will have more unbalanced stats, such as very high technical skill but very low physical, or overall low aggression, etc. It has been a huge problem in the few years before FM 2012 when they really worked on it. But nonetheless the stats of the regens are still not good enough. It's hard because you want the strengths of the players to be random, but if it is too random then no one will be good enough.

Really? I have found quite the opposite. Or atleast comparing regens to real players. That is something i always had a problem with. Say the year is 2012, i am a mid table PL side like Liverpool looking for a poacher. I would most likely be happy if i could find someone with 16 finishing, pace and off the ball. However if i play a mid table PL side in the year 2040 and i am looking for a poacher i won't be happy if he doesn't have 18+ finishing, pace and off the ball for example.
I have never thought about comparing newer regens (made in 2012-2016) to older regens (2020+). Is there really a difference? Why?

That would take literally 30-40 years unless you decide to save-cheat every season for wonderkid-like regens.
I'm actually playing 2012 for a bit now as chelsea just to get into the groove before I buy 13. My plan is probably to take a 2nd or 3rd division team from lesser leagues into CL and beyond, somewhere like Slovenia or Poland I think.
P.S. Does anyone know if the non-promotion system into the K-League has been fixed in 2013? I might give Ansan Hallelujah (true story) another go then.
Hmm in my experience it as been something like, if I'm looking for a poacher among real players, there will be plenty of players with rounded stats such as 15 for finishing, 10+ anticipation, off the ball, flair, determination, pace, etc, even if the players are not fantastic. Whereas in later saves among regens, there are very few rounded ones and more unbalanced ones with stats such as, 15 for finishing, 12+ for off the ball, determination, pace, and then a 3 for anticipation that's impossible to overlook. I think there is difference among generation of regens, but more importantly it's the difference between regen stats and real player stats, regen stats are unbalanced in a way that the players who are not extremely talented will never be notable.
Yeah, at least in <2010, it was very common for a regen player that has the average rating of 12 and 18+ in most of the desirable attributes to have something like Decisions 3 Anticipation 5, making him coinflippy at best and a hazard at worst.
The effect is somewhat diminished in lower leagues though, since the ratings are generally low and there are very weird players to begin with.

I'm actually torn on what type of game to make my "main" save this year.
What I used to always do was take a low-level team and bring them up through the ranks. The most notable was in FM10 where I managed FC United of Manchester (using a mod to activate the lower-leagues of the English pyramid) and took them all the way to the UEFA Cup group-stage in only ~15 seasons! The problem was that this got a little bit boring after playing a few similar saves over a number of years, so I moved onto playing "Journeyman" saves instead. "Journeyman" saves (where you limit yourself to staying at a club for only 1 or 2 years before moving to a new one) are pretty cool since you get to manage to lot of teams and you get a real feel for your character progressing as a manager as they move on to bigger and bigger clubs, but I kinda missed the idea of having a legacy at a single club... hence why I went with a "You'll Never Win Anything With Kids" (where you limit yourself to only using players developed through your clubs youth system) game this time around, although I admittedly made it easy on myself by managing Manchester United (which is who I support).

Play Rangers. A club with a decorated history, screwed over by their finances and now in the Scottish Third Division. Will be fun getting them back as Scotland's top team.

Currently trying a Rangers game at the moment, hopefully I don't fuck up and get fired after the first season.
Eh, even for $30 I can't really justify getting FM more than once every other year. And I had 300 hours on FM10 and now I only have 100 on FM12, so I think I'll skip 13.
And managing mundane shit as well as soccer is the draw of the series for me, so hopefully they keep the tax stuff for 14.
Has anyone tried the Quick Season mode thing? i need it to be good!
I remember playing CM98 and getting to 2009 being like "oh man 2009 is so far away." Cant get through more than 3 seasons now. All the crap like press conferences and that ruined the game for me.
How is the online compatibility with this year's version? That's what I'm really hoping for. In case it's good we should DEFINITELY set up a TL game!! :D

That's actually not a bad idea.
I'm trying to play this as my 'side-game' and it's really hard, especially after the first transfer window closes, where you can't transfer players for another 18 months due to an embargo.
In my main game, I'm the manager of Hallescher FC in the German 3.Bundesliga. I had no idea at all about any of the teams and basically picked blind. When I got to the team they actually had no right backs. So I bought an 18 year old right back from FC Mainz's reserve squad for 95k euros at my scout's recommendation, and the guy has been one of my best and most consistent players.
The projection was for my team to be relegated from the league, but they played beyond all expectations (even my own) and got upset after upset, and we were in second place with as few as ten games left.
After a bit of a slump at the end of the season my team finished sixth in the league, and the club's net worth more than doubled, from 1.6 million euros to about 4 million euros. After the season, Hertha BSC (now in the 1st Bundesliga) picked us up as a feeder team.
In my second season as manager of Hallescher FC, my team is 4-4-9, conceding the third most goals in the league and standing just barely out of the relegation zone. In the match simulations my players act as if they have no brain. They stand around while there is a loose ball near them, they allow a player to come into the box unmarked when I have 8/9 men in the box and score an easy goal, and the keeper just stands in place while the ball flies right past him as if he is paralyzed.
After this I read somewhere online that the 3D match engine is glitchy as hell and that's why the players act the way they do, and I also read that switching to 2D fixes it.
So what happens after I switch to 2D? Five straight wins while outscoring my opponents 11-3 over that stretch with two shutouts. At the start of the January transfer window my team is 9-4-9 and in thirteenth on the table. Wish I could have found this out earlier ~_~

really? May have to do this as well.. im Leeds in championship bought a few players to strengthen on free transers and my entire team plays like that there.. like they have no clue how to defend or anything lol may changed it to to 2D or see if patch will help!

On November 23 2012 03:20 zulu_nation8 wrote: What tactics is everyone using? I'm having lots of trouble with team talks as well.
It all depends on your players, but I'm using a 4-5-1 with the 4-2-3-1 deep as my backup tactic. In my main game in the German 3.Liga I favored a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond setup, then I switched to a 4-5-1 with eight games left in my second season, because I had nothing else to play for and wanted to experiment, and I realized I had all the pieces for it, except a left winger so I ended up training one of my center fielders into one, and he's got six assists in seven games, leading the league.
Now in the third season after seven games my team is 4-3-0, the only unbeaten team left, and outscoring my opponents 12-4.
With the pep talks try to generally encourage your team before games, and keep encouraging them if they play well. If you get stomped then I find the assertive "I'm far from pleased with that result" talk to be effective. If you lose a close game don't chastise your team, use like the calm/assertive talk about being unlucky, it seems to inspire the players pretty well.
I would stay away from the "aggressive" section, because I find it almost always leads to bad things, mainly media reports about how you yelled at the team in the locker room after the game, which never helps your image or team chemistry at all.
This is my first football manager game, but with how long the series has been around I'm sure there is a guide for when it's appropriate to use which pep talk somewhere on the internet.
I'm playing with Arsenal, but I'm doing really poorly in both of my games; in one, I'm playing 4-4-2 and in the other 4-5-1. Does anyone have any general or specific tips?
What tactics should I use? Any really good micro tactics (such as let this player have this special order)? Any player that's really good to buy?
ah, i love this series so much. had to take a break in december, but will play again in january. i love playing with manfield.
a bit disappointed that the 'interact with press' part seems really uninspiring still. anyone found any new young talent yet? this 'scott rogers' guy has been playing brilliantly for me in mansfield, and has developed really well. he is dear to me now.
On January 05 2013 00:21 sc4k wrote: Are there actually many changes between 12 and 13?
They've pretty much overhauled the match engine. Players now have collision detection to prevent them from running through each other, the ball is affected a lot better by wind and swerves more noticeably. A good chunk of stuff like that.
If you still don't have it though, I would wait until the next update (the winter transfers one). The match engine stuff still isn't perfect, defending can still be kind of ehh..., but you can definitely see that it has come a long way (especially when comparing it to the beta that you got if you preordered the game. OMG the crazy shit that happened in it!).
This is my first FM game, and the defending has gotten much better for me with all the patches. They've done a great job with supporting the game so far. The only complaint I have now is when one attacker can somehow get the ball from a cross or pass when there are 8/9+ defenders in the box. And sometimes the keepers don't even react to shots.
I bought this game today and i'm excited to play it, mainly because of PETs video series. He's playing the game with depth and passion, so cheers to him!
I always get slightly addicted to the FM games and FM2013 hasn't been any different. Been playing on one file with a swedish lower league team (ÖIS) and one with AFC Wimbledon for a while and just recently decided to play a team that at least has a chance to win some international comps and I settled with Southampton. So much fun :D
Anyone here with a lot of experience in this game and willing to share? I am playing a bit again, but the team is playing really weird and i have no idea how to compensate for that
Playing Create a club, brought a team from german Bezirksliga into second devision, last season i got 6th, which i don't have problems with, but my team does. I always tried to buy young talents and overall the team is quite young, so all the bigger fish try to buy my players and everyone wants to play higher, but then they completely fuck up their games. I got the biggest problem, that my midfield is basically playing horrible all the time, i am something about 4th or 4th in teamstrength, but i either win barely or lose really hard. Overall it feels like the game wants to punish me for waving me through 7 leagues before and now has enough of this shit. I also can't play 3D-Mode, because even the best defenders just won't do anything, they often let the opponent run past them and then it's a coinflip. The enemy never does that, so....eh? Also, my wing layers, who should essentially play better then 90 % of all enemies usually play with 4-4,5 ratings and i have 5 of them to get one that works. They all don't. If i play 3D-mode, they are basically not in the game, even though the tactis are set to wings, the ball always goes through the middle and the scorers have to always walk through 3-4 opponents, they get the ball way too early. However, in text mode, the game always says i play with high flanks, but those wing players rarely prepare goals and have the worst rating of the team. Always.
Is there a way to upload my team somewhere or something like that, to get help from entusiasts, cause i feel i know how to make the money work, how to keep my players decently happy (except for them being too cheap and therefore everyone trying to buy them, making them hate me), just the training and most importantly the tactics are compeltely off
