Been playing DoC from it's beginnings almost, and it really is a hidden gem.

Great game mechanics, outstanding artwork and not too obtrusive f2p model. It's only for the lack of marketing that we have such small amount of players, but from what i hear that is also about to change with the new expansion.

To me, solving the problem of second player advantage, is the most important thing we will get with this expansion, more important than all the new cards that will come with it. Hopefully, Dragon Crystal mechanic proves good.

Anybody still play this game? It's the only card game I still play. Hearthstone just wasn't doing it for me.

Some big news regarding my favorite game.

Yesterday Blue Byte (Ubisoft daughter company, now in charge of DoC) implemented draft mode!
This would be great news if they didn't also announce that they have no plans to further update the game.
This means no new cards, which in turn means slow and agonizing death of Duel of Champions.

Now, this game really had potential - great artwork, grid based battlefield which, together with retaliation mechanic, enabled the gameplay that was not hard revolving around efficient creature trade, something I rly dislike in most ccgs nowadays.
It was on the market before HS and all those generic ccgs that spawned after, hoping to grab a piece of HS cake.
Unfortunately, lack of marketing and Ubisoft's general incompetence killed it.

I play this game. It's pretty great. They really managed to incorporate some HOMM concepts (grid battlefield, heroes) into a card game which really impressed me. Really sad they're cancelling development.

As of the latest patch, there are plenty of bugs and the game is almost unplayable.

Currently, there is a petition on ubisoft forum to reconsider dropping the game development (made long time ago). There has been other petitions before, but this time it is a sinking man outcry for survival. If there are people still thinking this is the best CCG out there, go to the topic and write a short message.

Save MMDoC Petition

Around 100 people so far posted, which is still small, but those who love the game should encourage others to leave a mark in that thread.

For any long time MMDoC fans, here are some news if you are still as interested in the game as back when it was in full swing.

Earlier this year the game has received a fan-made online lobby with original netcode which makes it possible to play it again.
Current release includes:

Original game files.
All cards are unlocked, no collection mode.
Built-in deck builder with 2 deck formats: Open and Standard.
Built-in replay manager.
Single-player game modes - vs AI, hot seat, campaign (original) and puzzles (includes 5 puzzles tha were not freely available in original game).

The game is pretty stable, but crashes and desyncs still happen from time to time.
