We cleared with WAR, PLD, SCH, WHM, NIN, DRG, BRD, SMN.
But we were switching between MCH and SMN quite a bit. In the end decided that having another raise in case of fuckups was more worthwhile than Dismantle every 60sec.

There is a bit of discussion on Reddit recently about how much casters are getting screwed because they don't offer the same amount of group synergy that physical jobs do. SMN was finally seeing some use in the meta and then they nerfed it. Some will scoff at the complaints and say the meta doesn't matter, but imbalance is still imbalance, no? Seems they should be looking for a way to even things out and make groups value casters more.

Mhmmm the balance between dps is hard to make, since the only way to achieve complete balance would be making every job the same, which is obviously also not the way to go.
In all honesty unless you are hunting after speedkills the meta really does not matter too much. It is just that the community is stupid enough to lock people out of party finder based on what the top percentile of players are doing. every content is clearable in any group composition in my opinion.
You would like to make it somehow balanced enough that you take 2 melees, 1 physical ranged and 1 magical ranged but if you overbuff magical ranged it will turn the meta into double or triple caster combinations just as it is with physical damage now. I am uncertain what would be the correct way to balance that out.
There is also the difference between progression party and speedkilling, in progression I am fairly certain that almost every group will want to have a smn or a rdm just for the potential of raising healers to keep going and see more mechanics.
In summary the entire thing is way too complicated for some easy "just buff casters" fix.

Anyway I'm kinda unmotivated by FFXIV atm and I'm playing other games..... I think I'll wait for Eureka to come out to resub. The patch seems like the same ol, same ol, maybe I'll resub just do to the MSQ though.

MSQ was good. I am working on the side quests now, but still a few gear level short (320 instead of 325 for the new trial)

edit: I hit 325 and did the new omegascape bosses and trial. I loved all of them, but this should be no surprise to me since one of my all time favorite games is where these bosses are from.

They really know how to do enjoyable fights even if they aren't so extremely difficult.

I dunno, I kept resubbing for the MSQ, but I've just become tired of having to grind up to a new gearcap every time to do it. Even if it only takes a week and a half or so of dailies. I think I've just soured on the MMO concept as a whole of logging in every day to do chores...

The trailer really nailed it this time around and for a "catch-up" patch it seems like there is tons of new stuff

Yeah, this trailer seems 100x better than their previous ones.... I can't help to say that I still think the 2.x-3.x trailers were so much better. I don't read all the patch notes while I take breaks from the game, and the trailers used to do an awesome job at explaining every feature.

While I also miss the clarity on new stuff you get from the old trailers, if all the future ones are of this quality for actually creating hype for a patch I think I am okay with that.
Then again they also had some hype patchtrailers with the old ones.
Well whatever, looking forward to hopefully punch that smug asahi in the face tomorrow after patch release
