At this point creating your own custom game is not possible. You can not play against your friends. Its "auto match" only. erm no, that's not true at all. You can make custom games and play against friends. How else have would the tournaments that have been held so far been done. Getting lucky in the auto match?

without the ability to choose the map you want. i'll just directly quote PingPing here: "You know how the match making worked in COH1 - we want match making with RANDOM players that can JOIN your game - thats all players want." the thing that is going to kill multiplayer is the fact that not many people will be online playing the game. like i said though, at least noun was honest enough to acknowledge any change in this area is NOT coming soon. so you have to give Relic credit for being honest.

No, you can chose any map you want, you can change VP settings, you can change to VP or annihilate, you can change starting resources, you can invite your friends to your custom games. I wouldn't pay any attention to the rantings of pingping, a person who doesn't even own the game so wouldn't know what the situation is and also you blatently don't own the game either.

you missed the phrase "RANDOM players" in there. i do not own the game. i've watched others play on Twitch.tv it'd be great if i saw the example PingPing brings up actually performed. WIth no leaderboards, no map maker , no real ladder, and a matchmaker that puts together a 2v2 game with 1 player from australia, Lake Placid New York, Siberia, and KIruna Sweden. This makes the 2v2 unplayably laggy... i'd have to see the feature i'm discussing to actually believe it exists. i wanted to like the game because i was so pleasantly surprised by CoH1 way back when. Relic has been pretty transparent about most of the issues i've discussed that make the game feel rather incomplete relative to other $60 titles. By no means do i think Relic is a fraud. But, CoH2 just has not delivered the way CoH1 did. The steadily falling online numbers reflect this. 2,300 last night man. Ouch! I hope I'm wrong and Relic pulls this out of the fire, becomes the best RTS studio on the planet and hires 100 top notch Canadian software engineers from the University of Waterloo ( CombatEX is giong for a BMath so technically that would not include him ). Blizzard could use the competition. But, i must stick to my prediction sir. This is Relic's last game unless Games Workshop funds something from top to bottom. It is clear in my eyes that Relic is out of cash. I wish you well in the future in your attempts to foster the multiplayer competitive scene of CoH2. So far you've done a lot of hard work and put together some quality content.

No it's not, I play 2v2 every day and I have had maybe 2-3 games where a player lagged (then was dropped). If you haven't even played the game then don't say false information like this. I do agree however that relic is really being silly with the no leaderboards, no real rankings. Wish that would change :D

Wish that would change :D the information is not false. i'm getting that comment from watching 2v2 games on twitch. its the way i decide whether or not to buy a game. and i've seen lots of lag in lots of 2v2 games. could be bad luck that i've seen so much lag in these games. regarding the low # of players.. there are also a small # of community members who put together online competitive events. all it takes is for 1 or 2 of these guys to take a hiatus for any reason and what little competitive scene there is will disappear.

The community/playerbase consist of awful trolls and unreasonable little dickheads that would do anything to ruin your day if you beat them or somehow hurt their feelings because you tell them to micro better. Anywho, for this game to attract more competitive players Relic allready has done goof with the DLC packages. Skins and Theatre of War content was fine, but the commanders being DLC only such a money grab however small the price is. I can't make myself recommend this game(sigh bulletin grind) for anyone who would play this at the competitive levels. Coh2 has potential but the same thing could be said about Ages of Empires Online. The only thing amusing with this game is how involved Relic and it's employees are with this HelpingHans Vs the world drama. Relic should stick to fixing things instead and/or maybe look back to what made games like red alert/warcraft/starcraft series widely played by alot of gamers(chat channels if it was too vague), instead of scouring third party sites for quotes to ban a select few players who where mean to one smug streamer that had it coming. Edit: CoH2 is lots of fun if you love explosions and stuff. I hope Relic figures things out. =1

Almost every game at least one person drops, the first minute of the game takes about 5 minutes of real time, it's just not fun. I don't even care about the balance issues and all that. I'd just like to actually play a game.

The campaign makers creating this story have led Relic into a minefield without even realizing it. Many Russians are justifiably not happy with the campaign plot points and are now on a mission to discredit the game in any way possible. They are firing request's at Relic's server to try and overwhelm it and bring it down. The angry protestors are adding their own "user reviews" to Metacritic taking the Metacritic User Review score down to 2. http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/company-of-heroes-2/user-reviews Set in the background of this Relic is in a nasty dispute with a little know clan consisting of guys who can barely speak english. These guys think "fucking" and "faggotry" are real adjectives because its what they hear all the time. Its their "gamer" exposure to the English language. Jeremy from pure pwnage would be proud. Why is Relic starting an "internet war" with a bunch of 17 year olds who can barely speak english? I would call this a "pr nightmare" except for the fact that nobody cares because no one is playing the game.

It's a pity though. Relic is (or was) pretty much the only good RTS developer apart from Blizzard.

Watched the first mission on youtube, wish I hadn't... not even ten minutes in and you have things like Soviet troops being sent into battle unarmed, sadistic commissars randomly shooting friendly soldiers in the back, executing unarmed German soldiers, the good old 'innocent war hero stuck in a gulag for ten years' story, but the war hero's name is impossible for a Russian (Lev Abramovich Isakovich), Russian words completely misspellt in the subtitles, the list goes on and on. If I were Russian I would be livid, sloppy writing on Relic's behalf has left this game in a pool of obscenely overblown stereotypes that feed off of each and make anyone that knows what went on on the eastern front more and more pissed off. What was Relic thinking?

Sega is boasting about "shipped copies" of the game rather than "units sold". We've all seen publishers attempt this little piece of PR spin only to fall flat on their face. Hopefully, Sega will reveal a nice large total of games sold in the near future. But, every one I've talked to says their local Best Buy and GameStop is swimming in unsold boxes of CoH2. Also, the CM for CoH2 is gone without a replacement being named.
