Doesn't matter. In a sub-based game, everything should be in the game 100%. No shop. Subscription + Shop is money grab. Good for business, bad for the customer.
It matters a lot if you're going to compare a game with an only cosmetic shop vs a game that has real advantages to spending money in the shop. It's the entire point of discussing micro-transactions or cash shops. Does the game have P2W elements or are the shops strictly cosmetic. I mean, it's really the only thing that matters when discussion in-game buying.
Well, there are a lot of p2w games out there. And there is a lot of grey zones. A lot of people don't consider the option of money-->gold in gw2 as p2w for example. The reasoning is that you can't really buy advantages with gold, that's what these people say. Others say you can (obviously you can...). But that wasn't my point. Companies in the western world no that p2w is frowned upon here. So what they actually do is: Tons of cosmetics. Cutting out convinience out of the game to sell it in the shop instead. Design content in a way it leads you to the shop (advertising, take gw2's living story for example). A lot of development recources go in managing and planning the shop/strategies and also creating the stuff that later will be sold instead of working on proper content. They don't see it as "we'll offer a little extra here and there for people who want to support us". They see it as "how can I make as much money out of the customers without them leaving and with as little effort as possible". I don't argue that cosmetics give no advantage or aren't bad to be sold in a shop. It's the actual trend that the amount of it goes way over the top. As for the other two points: These are exactly points that make players feel bad in the game (aka convinience exists, but you don't have it, but you COULD if you pay). The focus now lies on the shop, not on the game. And that's a big problem - for the gamers. Again, I'm not arguing on the cosmetics as a core idea but on the general problems with shops that are evolving lately.

Yeah I wasn't talking about anything pay to win. But WoW is a subscription game, so when you charge for anything then people are paying twice (three times if you include the box costs).
-Play as an Imperial: Become an Imperial and play in any Alliance. Gain unique bonuses, crafting styles, gear, and more. -White Imperial Horse: Summon this Imperial mount and journey through Tamriel with speed. -Mudcrab Vanity Pet: Explore Tamriel with a mudcrab pet by your side. -Rings of Mara: Complete the Ritual of Mara with a friend and receive an experience bonus when you play together. All those that pre-order either the standard edition or the Imperial Edition will also receive The Explorer’s Pack, which included these digital bonuses: -The characters you create can join any alliance, no matter which race you choose -The Scuttler, a tiny but loyal vanity pet -A bundle of four bonus treasure maps
I have been defending this game until now, but this is complete horseshit. Will not be playing.
best would be if they shut this game down after one month after they took all the money from initial sales and preorders and then the first month of subscribtions

What we consumers can do is by voicing our opinions by not buying it. Thats all you can do really.

I know they didn't care about lore, since they're shitting all over the canon, but now if you get the Explorers pack you can play ANY RACE in ANY FACTION? So we can have Altmer players fighting alongside Dunmer? Argonians with Redguard? Wtf? How can they claim this is an Elder Scrolls, story driven game with a straight face.
This is essentially my reaction to having Chiss force users in Swtor. Or empire Cathar. If you are going to have factions, don't make them meaningless.
If anyone would be interested in the retail-version of the imperial-edition (excluding the statue) for 50-70€, preferably from germany, you can PM me. The game doesnt interest me at all, but the statue does. If anyone is interested : D
If you are from germany and relatively close to my location I would even deliver so you can enjoy the 5 day earlyer access.
