Wondering anyone else here plays the Dota spin-off, commonly known as LoD with the game mode -sdemsoulab, (I'll explain more modes at the end). Formerly known as OMG Dota. It currently runs off version 6.72 of normal Dota.
Essentially for those who don't know, it's the same as normal WC3 Dota, but in standard -sdemsoulab, you are given 10 heroes in your draft, and you pick 3 normal skills and 1 ultimate and at the end, you choose the hero you want from the same 10 heroes you are given.
Games I find are bit more fun with extra spins to it, although you tend to see good skills been chosen over and over and don't see the not-so-strong skills. Spells such as Ravage, Overgrowth, Storm Bolt and Impale are very powerful skills. Heroes that have instant cast time benefit most from having active skills.
Carry heroes are also very powerful, although very weak at the start if you are laning against someone with 3 stuns, but skills such as essence shift (slark) on a ranged hero is very strong. Feast (naix), Empowering Haste (spirit breaker) are all very common skills to be seen. By far form experience having Feast and Fury Swipes with Repel on a melee hero is something not to be taken lightly.
Tank builds also come into play, some people like to mix around with Dispersion, Return, Craggy Exterior, Counter Helix on Strength heroes. They become so hard to kill!!!
The additional modes you can add on are s6d2, which means you can have 6 skills (4 normal, 2 ulti's) with a draft of 20 heroes, but some skills cannot be chosen in this mode (such as Shadowraze, Shapeshift, Devour) if they occupy more than 1 skill slot naturally. Things get more hectic as more options are available such as stacking Coup de Grace with Grow or just having 6 stuns in general. There is also s5 (4 skills, 1 ulti). In case people don't know, the 'ul' component is unlimited level, so you can level past 25, albeit you only gain stats as per your hero's growth.
I play on Bored Aussie server and you see these games come up often, for every 5 games of normal Dota, 1 will pop up. However, I don't know the popularity of it outside Australia.
Hero Examples: A 1 shot kill build in s6d2 for example: 1) Enchant Totem 2) Jinada 3) Empowering Haste 4) Wind Walk 5) Walrus Punch 6) Grow
At about level 16 you could pump out 2k crit pretty easily on a Jinada/Walrus punch hit while a Walrus punch on a hero below 50% HP will be about 3k. You can be a ranged hero too by the way. Any intelligence hero would probably be dead.
A support stunner hero example: 1) Storm Bolt 2) Impale 3) Shadowraze 4) Ravage
You would choose a hero like Ancient Apparition or Invoker, literally any hero with instant cast would do wonders
Try to pick the skills as it is because if it is not arranged properly, aftershock will work before you blink to the enemy. Pick Essense Shift as your first skill at the start of the game. It will help you a lot to make the first kill.
I liked playing that but where you were given random skills. I dunno, I largely played it for fun and I enjoyed making do with what I got. Actively picking an op combo feels like being that guy who gets Zeus in wtf mode and just sits in fountain mashing his ult at level 6.
I can see the appeal of theorycrafting an ideal set of skills though don't get me wrong, not digging on anyone or anything.

combine with either a mobility ult like permanent invisibility or a set up like reverse polarity
i like aftershock quillspray static field myself.
its riskier because quillspray+aftershock isnt enough for perma, though you can do fun shenanigans like cast a courier and trigger aftershock etc.
doesn't matter quite so much when your ult has a low cd. hmmm never tried aghanims pugna though. do channels proc aftershock?
dont believe channeled abilities trigger it. not sure about storm's ult though, that could be interesting. Essence aura+storm ult+ quill spray + whatever is pretty crazy.
Theres other lines than spamming spells. Fury swipes+focus fire has obvious synergy
Bash+feast+hunter in the night+windrunner/troll ult
Dispersion+backtrack+flesh heap+dirgeult/alch ult/dazzle ult on str hero like roof. You basically walk up to them and ask to be hit.
invis (shuki, windwalk, skeletonwalk, etc)+ maledict +stun + doom = guarantee ganks, even if they run, maledict+doom is basically enough to kill most heros from full.
Preferred Hero: Rikimaru (since he has the most agi when levelling up) or Kardel (for missile speed)
The trick is to upgrade aftershock first to prolong stun. By level 5 (since you'll have overpower), you'll have 2nd stun to finish the enemy. Eventhough they tried to run, backstub will finish them off. Lastly by level 8, you have 3 big stuns to make a successful kill.
