Anyway... I'm excited, should be great. Cut the crap. I have been debating really hard the last few days but my final decision is no. After the D3 fiasco I refuse myself to buy another SP game that forces me to be on. Im getting tired of this bs of people trying to control if, when or how I play games that I bought. I really liked the videos and the hype they generated and was even going to ignore the loss of features present in previous games but the online only killed it for me.

1) EA made it. 2) Origin / DRM / Always Online 3) Small maps Only the third one is valid, and nobody has had a chance to play anything but the tutorial region and no one has played any multiplayer. Not sure why people are so quick to dismiss games. If you like simulation games this is one of the most exciting franchises and its been a super long time. Sim tower was probably my favorite, but SimCity 2000 was next... Anyway, no need to defend the people who are complaining I'm just saying its not valid to dismiss games because you don't want an installer packed with it. Steam was even worse than Origin when it launched and for like 1.5 yrs after too.

you can build tracks in your city, you just need the main line to hit the edge of your city (not every city will have trains and boats) from that main line you can extend the track anywhere you want round your city and to your station.

I don't pay for stuff i don't want to support so while i am pretty sure i will buy this new simcity since i don't really care about origin that much, i can understand perfectly how people don't want to support this practice. Take Heroes of might and magic 6 and the shit job ubisoft did for example.

What server? Do you have a source for this? Authentication doesn't mean your game is being served by another machine.

If you're going to make an alternative to Steam, it has to be better than Steam is now, not than what Steam used to be. Also, Steam doesn't require online access for single-player games. As far as I'm concerned, being online for a fundamentally single-player game is a dealbreaker.

Like being able to install the game on any harddrive you wanted for example. And Steam DOES force you to be online once in a while or even your singleplayer games won't launch at all. And it's not since recently the offline mode actually works decently.

You can pirate it ![]() Not gonna work bro, SimCity's entire simulation is now done server-side (hence the always online feature). If you pirate it the hackers better know how to simulate the entire functional city that the dev team has been working for years on.

The game wouldn't be Online-Only if it was just Authentication HAHAHA If you like simulation games this is one of the most exciting franchises and its been a super long time. Sim tower was probably my favorite, but SimCity 2000 was next... SimCity is the same as Dead Space. Just the Name of a good Franchise is left! SimCity5 has nothing to do with the old SimCitys! It has become a terrible casual-friendly game with not depth at all.

and what's the deal with the couple mentions of no trains or highways that I saw? I tried reading everyone's opinions and it's all over the place. Can someone give me a good little overview without some kind of tangent about origin? that's kind of straight forward i dont need an explanation about that

Same solution as in D3, and as we all know, that can't be pirated either, they are still working on server emulators but it's still not even close to enjoyable. I'd say this is the one perfect solution for game makers who want to fight piracy, there's no way around it. Unfortunately for the game companies, it's a terrible solutions which no one buying the games want since it leads to tons of issues with lag, server instability etc.

Didn't know it was online only until then, super bummer tbh. I mean they kind of have to do it to avoid piracy, it's just a vicious circle. I think I'm probably still gonna get it, maybe a week after release so I know if the server are really messed up.

Making great games is the way to fight piracy! Look at Games like Dragon Age: Origins, Skyrim or the Witcher 2. Great Games always sell a great amount! User was warned for this post
