I've not played a mw game before, but these battlereports from iGrok make this sound pretty nifty.
Chromehounds and Zoids Battle Legends on the gamecube were both awesome back in the day as well.
Just reserved 'Aeth Gemulus' as my character name and signed up for the beta ^.^

All mechs have 10 built-in heat sinks, and in MW4 all mechs had a coolant flush system which let you rapidly drop your heat. It created a greenish fog behind you, but I was jumping backwards so it appeared in front of me.

I'm working on another battle report, it'll probably be in my 3000th
EDIT: Editing to preserve postcount lol
I chose the Hunchie. Its the closest thing I can get to my beloved Uziel, especially since by piecing together various dev comments I've realized I can put 2 ppcs on it xD. I forsee light heavies and heavy mediums being excellent CBill farmers as well, due to smaller repair costs and high damage output.
We still don't know a lot about the information warfare system, but again, piecing together various Dev comments gives a pretty clear picture. Radar won't work like in MW4, you're going to need to be closer or have visual contact (or have an ally have visual contact). Maintaining radar contact will over time (a couple seconds) reveal more and more about the target mech, such as Chassis, Damage, Variant, Weapons, etc. But I do think that this has had the least amount of information released so far, so we'll have to wait and see

The founders packs do sound cool but I feel like they've been pretty tightlipped about how the game will work in practice still.
Just to through the topic out there of the four: Atlas, Catapult, Jenner or Hunchback, which one would you choose as your c-bill mule(pun!)?

I don't see why they'd shut it off before that date because that's when OPEN starts, so you have time. There's a massive Q&A somewhere in general where one of the devs answered a bunch of questions. The official consensus was: "They will definitely not be on sale past August 7th. There is a good chance they will be shut off before then, because we are still running test hardware and the servers can only handle so many players."
If you want one, I wouldn't wait all the way till August.

Or is it just like xp/c-bill boosters and pure cosmetics or what? I'm not gonna pick the game up if you can find clan tech from the store for cash while others are stuck at IS tech >_< They will sell XP, soft currency, boosters and cosmetics. They will not sell 'mechs or weapons, except as cosmetic variants that function identically.
As an example, the special 'mech variants that come with the founders packs have exactly the same stats and slots as the normal versions, they just look different and get +25% XP.

I'm quite leery of pre-ordering, or giving them any money up front. So many companies seem to use similar gimicks to justify them releasing early before it's ready.
That said, I am so ready for this game. Been playing MW4 a bit recently, and it re-ignited my old flame for it. Granted, My first intro to the MW universe was back when it was restricted to those pods.

ooh i didnt know mechs had built in heatsinks, thought they only had those you put in the mechlab. been quite a while since i played mw4, was just a wee kid back then.

Coolant plus the 'mech's standing heatsinks were usually all you needed.
MW4 was actually kind of interesting, because you could quite accurately tell how good a pilot was by how hot a config he was able to run. Sinks were for noobs, yo.
|
My 12 m.pulse Black Knight cores an heavy mech in 12-15 seconds or so, but runs very, very hot. Extra sinks were required for sustained combat, plus I killed so quick, I had little need for extra weapons.

Yeah, a 12mpl BK isn't going to see much use. That 'mech is way too squishy and the sensors are way too valuable to throw into a brawl unless you have nothing else on planet to do the job.
|
It's more a mech for simple brawling. Granted, I don't know about ideal mechs, really haven't delved into the guts of the system. It's more just an example that heavy energy can still make use of extra Heat sinks.

I have another question (to anyone).
How much random numbers are integrated into MWO? I really can't stand pseudo-random-number-generators in online games anymore!
If there is one, how much do variables deviate by (artificial) chance?
|
Man I just wanna start playing already.
If only I still had that sidewinder joystick around...
|
For those of you asking for another battle report, check blogs ^^

I'm down for this and would love to be in a TL clan. Will prob order a pack, though I can't find my email anymore, can you sign up for a pack on their site? Also is a joystick required to play this game well? If so what's a good joystick on the market now?
EDIT: iGrok. Just finished your blog. It was epic. I don't remember much of MW games cause I was a youngin when I played em but reading your report I could almost picture the battle. It was awesome.

Very few, by all accounts. There's precious little public info right now, but none of it points to heavy use of RNGs. In fact, they've so far gone out of their way to implement non-random substitutes for things like cone-of-fire, like having multiple reticules for arm and torso mounted weapons.

You can order the packs straight off their site, yes. If you registered before and have forgotten your addy/pass, it might be worth trying to recover them. Who knows, you might even have a beta key waiting for you. If you don't care or haven't registered before, just make a new pilot name and apply the pack to that.
Joysticks are supported but not required. Mouse and KB is generally superior anyway.

Lol. I'm sure Joystick prob makes you feel more like your piloting something than mouse+kb would. If I don't have to spend any money on a joystick and won't feel gimped vs ppl using a joystick then that's a plus for me! Lol. I'll check out the site for the packs. Never registered before then....I don't think I did...hmm. Now that I think about it I might have. Time to find out I guess!
EDIT: Crap their system profiler doesn't work. Wonder if I could use my Battle.net system specs that I did when I wanted in D3 Beta.
