because it would be too much effort for too little gain.
it's a shame, because I'd play the shit out of a BC server.

Pandas were originally brought in as an April Fool's joke for Warcraft 3. A hidden easter egg was the panda faces on the Demon Hunter's blades, and a massive monster panda in one of the cave levels.
When they brought the Pandaren hero in TFT, that was also a kind of joke, not any kind of lore investment.
To expect people to take the Warcraft universe seriously after they base an entire expansion on what was originally an April Fool's joke? Wow.
That would be like having an entire Cow Act in D3 because the Secret Cow Level was so popular in D2.
And I liked BC, WotLK, AND Cataclysm. This expansion makes no sense to me when compared to the logic of those other three.

I really don't understand how people can put down this expansion before it's even out, and for it's ridiculousness/lorebreakingness at that.
Seriously? This is World of Warcraft. Every freakin' quest is some kind of shoehorned pop culture reference. And lore? Noooooo, that died with Illidan more or less.
I'll be enjoying the hell out of this expansion. Giant zone on a turtle's back? Check. Traveling troupe of monks beating the hell out of everything and filling every role? Check. POKEMON FOR WHEN I END UP IDLING IN CAPITAL CITIES? HELL YEAH, BABY.
I'm so glad that so far this hasn't been an "OLD GODS DID IT!" thing so far. There's no giant, universe destroying evil bursting forth and annihilating everything. It's themed more around exploration, and finding something new.
+ Show Spoiler +of course there will be old gods, how could there not be old gods

As a vet since day 1 vanilla, been leading a raiding guild ever since then. I still raid heroic firelands simply because of all our old school players, we have about 12 people still that were there for our first ragnaros kill... and now we kill him again (well Heroic Rag is raping us). I was given a burst to keep playing through this xpac because I wanted the Legendary staff.. and its great (1 shotting people in bgs when it procs with 4 AB stacks). Probably gona kill Deathwing and wrap that gavel up.
Anyways, I think finally, this will be the expansion I quit playing. Overall some good things, some disappointing things, but probably best to finally move on. Pandas are cool, pet battles are gay, talent trees are just terribly designed. WoW is great game, I will never hate on it, probably over 1k days across my accounts... but this is the first Blizzcon news that just didn't impress at all.
D3 cant come soon enough!

I think the single most important thing that WoW has going for itself is lore.
Pandas were a joke to begin with and now they are the focal point of this expansion. WoW players expect the rich lore to continue in the form of an incredibly powerful evil in every expansion. It really doesn't make sense for Blizzard to continue their story in this way.
Perhaps, there's some great things to come, but first impressions means so much to a game and Blizzard really squandered it.

this is actually looking to be the best expac they will have put out by far

I don't agree with all of the hate
Pandarens are one of the better races in Warcraft... they were originally going to be the Alliance race in Burning Crusade... why are they getting so much objection when Worgen, Blood Elf, Dranei and Goblin all involved retcons?
i guess it's because the overall tone we've seen is just Pandas and Asian landscapes and such. They have to have some evil dragon on the front cover and in the trailer I guess.

It just doesn't feel like the same game to me. It feels like theyr targeting this game for children. To be fair, them and uber casuals probably make up the majority of the players by now, but it's just not the game I fell in love with 7 years ago.
The dumbing down 'everybody wins' mentality blizzard has is what drove me off from playing cataclysm after the first week and I just don't see anything bringing me back.

That has nothing to do with the new expansion, they've been doing that since Burning Crusade.
And I agree, they went overboard and did too much dumbing-down and "convenience" changes that ended up killing the game in the long haul.

i like that they're adding pandas to the game, it's been way too long since we've seen them. except the art on them sucks, their face needs to be fatter and more like the brewmaster

Might be trying it out after falling off in cataclysm. Yes using pandas as the new playable race is a little silly, but the Warcraft universe is finite, there's not much more they could have done. I was more interested in lore when I was younger. That's a big part of it - I don't think the game is necessarily getting easier/worse/more kiddie-oriented, its that all of use who started playing it early are much more grown
The talent revamps look pretty interesting, as well as new BGs and Blizz always invents new stuff for dungeons. Seems like it might be worth trying at least, and can just stop if the new content turns out to be stale/cutesy (pet battles... as if virtual fighting wasn't enough, now your virtual character can fight with its virtual pets...)
the only problem i have with returning to wow is that it can be a big time commitment to get the best gear, and its really annoying for me personally to not have the best performance numbers i can get when I know I have the skill for it (11/12 H ICC)

I think this news makes it clear for me that I won't touch any future xpansions anymore. Azshara is the first one who comes into mind, then there should be 1-2 old gods left... Maybe they could revive Ahn'qiraj? I dont know man, as much as I love the univserse even after having quit the game they kinda milked it out. (on a different story, I am still fucking pissed at what they did to malygos, but whatever..)
And they kinda hint that Deathwing may be the ubah boss again? Idk... They even reusd raggy for Cata..

I wouldn't be surprised, they've re-used a lot of content. Naxx, Onyxia, Rag, Nefarian, Zul'Gurub, etc..

Take out the panda's of this expansion and what do you have? The BEST talent tree redisign since vanilla, a new class that looks like it could be real fun (no auto attack) street fighter feel of slamming the keys to use abilities is how they put it. Add into that warcraft going back to the old days of WAR between the alliance and the horde being the main focus of this expansion rather than a big baddy. I look forward to MOP for the non panda stuff. even if I do plan on leveling a panda monk .

So many people seems not know that Pandas were actually in wc3... Still don't know if it is so great idea to focus whole expansion pack for it.

I don't know...this is not the wow that it used to be. However, i don't agree with all the wow hate I love Chinese theme of the new exp, music, graphics, architecture... I love Pandas, i love pet combat lol
...i am not playing wow currently...but i was on the fens after watching blizzcon starting to cool off a bit now though...

Blizzard: Can we have WoW in China please?
China: Sure, just s*&#^ our c&#*@.
Blizzard: K.
I'm not really sure how much these intro trailers really bode for the expansion. While it's nice to have a big, identifiable villain, that may not be the most important factor. Heck, the only villain from vanilla WoW that we had seen before that game was KT. I hope they have some interesting ideas to make up for the lack of a main villain. Not that I play anymore.

We went from Orcs vs Humans, to karate chopping Pandas, Pokemon and Leaderboards ala Xbox Live?
Look i know that games evolve, especially MMOs but i was actually excited when Metzen was talking about bringing War to WoW. I dont mind the Pandas but all the other stuff seems out of place. Talent tree changes in Cataclysm is one of the reasons the game has been bleeding subscribers, changing it is good, but now they are making it convoluted and complicated, something Blizzard has always been known NOT to do. Its something Bioware does, when you boot one of their RPGs you are confused as to what the 598325 menus do, and the 3-4 different ways to build your character through skills, abilities, specs etc. It just seems convoluted.
Maybe they just dont want to admit that they made a mistake in making talent trees so streamlined and, honestly dull, in Cataclysm. Going back to the bigger ones with more freedom worked fine, there was nothing really wrong with them.
The new arena map looked good, i loved arenas and its nice they are making a decent one for a change.
Who is villain of this expansion? Who is the main bad guy? The story is that Alliance and Horde fought in the seas and stumbled across this island/continent, great, but couldnt they have showed more story?
It just seems so bare bones, a fan service kinda of expansion, not a expansion with a clear goal and a point. There is no direction, its like "You love pandas, pokemon, and cute karate animations, here they are!".

As someone who's interest in WoW has been fading ever since the start of WoTLK, this expansion really made me realize i dont like the way WoW is going. (played since vanilla, in top guilds)
Pokemon pet system? Just a big + Show Spoiler +
Challenge dungeons? Exactly what people want, do the same shit boring instance over and over (this time without the loot). They finally realized standardizing gear can be a good thing...... in PVP ARENA!! (like WoW 3v3 tournaments, same gear to pick from, just skill that matters. The concept in my opinion is really useless and boring in PvE (which is all about killing shit to get items) /facepalm.
New talent system? Looks like yet another dumbing of trees. Their reasoning for not wanting cookiecutter builds? well, there always WILL be cookiecutter builds (if you want to min/max your character).
4?!?* new battlegrounds? rofl, more empty battlegrounds, should just focussed on a couple and make it more rewarding/competitive.
PvE scenario's? Looks like some WoW developers played RIFT and decided to steal the good things.
The new race and continent looks pretty and all, but it just seems like a big MEHHHHHHH.
Also it seems wrong to not have one big bad guy to raid towards to (Illidan, Kill`Jeaden, Arthas, Death Wing). So i guess their idea is to not have people idle around in cities, but do the PvE scenarios... big meh imo.

Talent tree changes in Cataclysm is one of the reasons the game has been bleeding subscribers, changing it is good, but now they are making it convoluted and complicated What? The new talent trees seem extremely simple. I don't what you have been seeing, but it certainly isn't the new talen system.
