This would give us the ability to accept people into our faction in a less stringent manner. I wouldn't mind taking on newbs in the faction, because you can always kick them later, I just don't want someone running off with our diamonds just because they can. Iron is practically worse because people will use up all your stores of it repairing without even caring.
Faction members should also be auto-kicked after 2-3 days, so that no faction an rely too much on offline, MIA, members for power. This way, factions would kick people and merge to maintain a core of active players. Kicked members can already be readmitted to the faction at no penalty once they become active again, so it's no big deal for them either.

hmm some really good points there fontong : ) I think you can do the different protection to an extent but it's difficult. The kicking is pretty good, but I think when people are offline for a long time their power degrades already so faction leaders already want to kick inactive members

If i want to join, I need to buy the game right? How much does it cost?

I keep getting raped by chickens :|

15$ is the game's price I think?
I'd also add that while MCMMO rewards the most active players, I think it kind of discourages new players. Simply because you see that X who killed you has a 100 points on sword mastery and you have 0, and you realize that to get to that point it will take way, way too long (and by that time X will be at 300 anyway).
People will say that this doesn't matter that much because sword abilities were nerfed, but it still has a strong psychological effect on people.
In the end, the server isn't really noob-friendly now. Most of the time someone logs on, asks for a faction, no one wants him, he falls down a cliff, then he dies to a chicken, and then he's like "fuck this" and leaves. The fact that a faction (Loners, Ganked, Sandpeople) can get exponentially better is also an obstacle to new people, but I see no solution apart from getting a full server back again so people can ally against them. It would be nice if alliances got some sort of bonuses or something, to favour alliances and teamplay/raiding.
Also, never say "this is easy" because a noob will always have no clue about what he needs to do the first hours, whether he is smart or not. Ganked members will say that they got 300 mining by just "being smart" but truth is that it still requires hours of mining, there's no secret (you can accelerate that by using iron ore I guess but does it work?), it doesn't really matter if you're smart or not : p

Mcmmo bonuses are not even that good (except acro).
Swords doesnt even increase your damage and the ignite proc from archery is same damage as a normal hit. People just look for reasons to blame what they lost on.

Top mining in ganked is like 210.... We chose the fun route; pvp for materials you need.

This round, we in Ganked don't even have a mine, after the first day(s), I doubt anyone in Ganked has even tried to find iron/diamonds unless someone else was carrying them.

You can even pick and choose who you want to have access to what so that there is varying levels of membership. It's in the guide to the factions plugin link posted in the OP.

Don't know about you but I don't want that kind of person in my faction anyway.

Whether the bonuses actually help or not doesn't really count, as a noob will never have a clue. He just sees that he died in 2 hits and lost everything he gathered in an hour of game time. Since lag sometimes makes battles messy/impossible to win (example: Mafia attacked us on round 1, we kept on dying, and then suddenly our leader lagged hard and killed 3 of them with an Iron sword, receiving no damage at all), people will ALWAYS look for "what went wrong". You can blame the lag, which you can do nothing about, but it didn't seem laggy, you can just blame MCMMO since 1v1 PvP doesn't require that much skill (clic clic clic).

Yawn, so bored. 8 people online at 7 pm? No thanks .

Yea, I was on for about 3 hours today messin around. Seems everyone I know from the Minecraft server is playing BF3. Can't say I blame them.
Perhaps we'll talk about some changes and kick start this thing after 1.9 is released, like others mentioned a page or two before in this thread.

Well the server would be more active if there was more to do. Like arenas or admin run events, not all of us want to play generic FPS's.
|
Yeah BF3 looks the same as every other FPS that comes out lately. I dont get the hype, but whatever. SC2 seasons being good to me.
|
Question has anyone found my random in-mountain lairs i've built? i went around the map and made about 10 underground houses complete with door, chest bed food, coal. in case any solo factions find one they can have everything, nothing is useful for any of the big factions so i think they'll be safe from raiding. ^^ to find them, look for weird geography. thats how i placed them.

mobs are so messed up : ( haven't seen any dogs in forever I miss them lol : P

I have the game and I played it once and never touched it again :O. I predominantly played Minecraft because I hate the 2 week lock in between SC2 seasons.

I'm 98% done with another arena, but I've died so often building it I just don't care enough to finish it.
With only 8 people on the server, mob spawns are ridiculous. And they spawn in light too - the arena is covered in torches, and I still have pig zombies spawn literally on top of me.

they spawn in the air and fall to the ground, put some hanging lanterns in.
