Yeah - I (we) did that always as well during pub matches Knife knife knife while running.
But in CWs (and I currently see those competitive matches as CWs) it was a no go, since the inflicted damage could lead to a loss. I have to say, that I'm still within my 10 placement matches - so I might see this a bit more "seriously" than required
Has nothing to do with low or high level of play. It's just a neutral change for convenience. I play in borderless window and when I click back at round start it fires.

So learn to alt-tab in or alternatively click in during the freeze time... I just don't think it's a needed change personally. Especially pertaining to knifing whilst running out of spawn.
after just a few weeks of csgo i went from gold 2 to AK. i really feel the improvement and its getting more exciting to play every day.
but a question: we played vs someone with a vac ban.the ban was from 1.6 but shouldnt the vac ban be for all competitive games? i mean cheater is cheater. obvously he was wallhacking in that game

VAC bans are per engine. CSGO runs on Source so a 1.6 VAC ban doesn't affect GO

While not likely the case, and probably not common, some movie makers back in 1.6 had vac banned accounts because the stuff they were using for movie making were detected by vac as cheats. Tweeday's main account has a 1.6 vac ban.
edit: nvm it was for CS:S.
Q: Why are you VAC Banned on your main account? A: Back in 2008 i have asked someone to gift me a banned account in a forum for Counter-Strike:Source moviemaking purposes (as you have to use bypasses that may get you banned via VAC). It was already banned at the time to not risk my usual account - as i did videos a lot i added all my contacts there, now that CS:GO is not related to the CS:S VAC Ban i simply turned the VAC banned one into my main account, my first account that i bought 2005 is still active and running though i you guys do not know that account simply because i only go on it when i want to have a relaxed and private time. I have never been VAC banned nor do i cheat - but thanks for the compliments :-)!

First i want to thank you guys for the answers.
Sure ppl deserve a second chance but its annoying he hacked back then and was hacking in that map against us. (It was very obvious. He looked and shot through walls without hearing or seeing sth in a legal way)

The objective of a game developer is to make their game more fun so they make more money. Valve wants to sell more items by getting players to play more and getting them to tell their friends how much fun it is. If a change increases the enjoyment of players at no detriment to competitive play, it is probably good.
My suggested change allows people to play how they want with no downside for casual nor competitive play. Therefore they should implement it to increase enjoyment.
The only potential negative impact is if it is lasts for a long enough period of time that it effects firing mid in dust2.
The following makes no sense to me: I've been playing with 1920x1080 for a long time, with 200 fps stedy and have played really bad exept for my AWP which have carried me alot of times. However, for the last few days I tried going back to 800x600 which I played with back in original CS and started owning up again with AK and the M4.
I remember it was the same back in CS where I played much better at 640x480 than 1024x768. But I don't understand why.
Is the spray pattern different? Or are enemies "bigger"?

it's a corner case that will detract from gaming experience/nostalgia factor for 99.99% of other players who wonder why it's not the same as CS 1.6, while the only improvement is that it will improve things for 0.01% of the gaming population who like to mouse click in order to switch back to CSGO while playing on borderless window instead of alt-tabbing, players will think valve is saying: we don't trust you not to shoot your teammates during first 5s, so we will baby you and not let you shoot your teammates. in short, it's not a very elegant solution if you have to change rules ppl are familiar with in order to fix a minuscule problem.
maybe if you submit it as a bug to valve, they can disable firing for 1s after switching focus to CSGO while on borderless window, so it doesn't affect everyone.
edit: since we're talking about bugs, does anyone else find it annoying that the console doesn't log all the kills anymore the way it did in 1.6? sometimes in MM, ppl use really similar names, so it's hard to keep in track which guy died where. is there a way to make it log kills like it did in 1.6?

Arguing that flaws from 1.6 should be kept because some old players remember them being that way is silly. There are a million things different in terms of game play from 1.6 that have been changed so players don't expect them to be the same. For example, you can't wall bang or shoot through many places in GO that you used to be able to so you don't assume based on 1.6. My proposed change is way less substantial and has no impact on gameplay. No one's expectations about friendly fire at round start has any impact on gameplay. It is like any patch change where people who are affected will notice and care but no one else will.
actually some people would like to knife people in the first 5 seconds of the match.
also does anybody else use a crappier gun just for the skin? seems that way on T now because i'd rather use a galil or the sg instead of the ak just for the skin :DDD
