I think part of the mistake is simply calling it Competitive Matchmaking. The ELO system can work for competitive play, but it should be restricted to actual 5v5 teams. Anything less than a pre-made 5v5 should just be called Individual or Public Matchmaking or something.
It's a pugging system and a scrimmaging system rolled into one, and you really can't have that. How someone does in a pug with random teammates or bots should have no relevance on how they do in real scrims, and if you separated it, no one would make the mistake of judging skill based on a pug rating. If you're not playing with a pre-made team, you're not playing competitively.
It wouldn't fix the issues with people disconnecting and being replaced by terrible bots, but it would alleviate things because those results would be from a game mode that doesn't matter. In the current situation, unfortunately, those results do matter. I can only hope that Valve doesn't go down the Blizzard route and start inviting people to tournaments based on ladder performance.

Hope this new ban system works much better: http://blog.counter-strike.net/#abandon
I foresee more tk happening at game start and kicked by console if one doesn't want to continue the game. Being kicked by teammates or console have much light penalty.

wow this is awful! every game at least 1 player leaves and then then of course 1 retard has to vote to abandon the game ruining a perfectly good game halfway through.
Happened to me 3times in a row. How does this make any sense...

Happened to me 3times in a row. How does this make any sense... I have played almost 20 rounds. Haven't passed 10+ round yet with the new ban system. We need someone to do the math, 5min, 30min, 2h, 24h, 1week ban. Based on the total players who joins competitive mode, after how many days will we have a rather no quitter game?
At this moment, most quitters I see are only getting their first 5 mins ban yet. I hope to see more 1 week ban coming.

Bonedriven !! Congratulations...
I've played 15 games and none of them passed past round 3 - usually ends after first round ...
The 1 vote minority is stupidly retarded. There should be an option if you vote no for continuation it kicks you out but the rest stays and the remaining spots are filled with new players.

Second hand tweet: @csgo_dev asks "50% of competitive match abandoners do so in the first two rounds. If you’re one of them, tell us why."
Apparently the vast majority of quitters have <10 hours of play time, so an "Are you sure?" screen might cut it down a lot, and if that doesn't work, a play time requirement.
Edit: Or maybe it's just the multi-core rendering + spectator mode crash bug.

wtf is with the long waiting times now? Haven't played in a couple of weeks due to exams, I come back, all this awful revamping of stuff, and I wait 8 mins to get into a game to no avail? Guess no more use trying to just hop into the valve servers...

Can't play a single game because every time i start playing, I get some stupid issue where I can't use my mouse to play. My friend also having a lot of issues with this game. How the fuck is this messing up so much for us?

Anyone else experienced the new phenomenon of CS Trolls ? While previously the people to Vote No to continue were the ones losing badly. But now trolls emerge who purposely vote no even though their team is winning ... (had a team of 5 people and we were losing but we still voted yes so one of their guys had to do it)
Anyone knows any "TL" public servers to play ?

Maybe it's someone who wanted a good match instead of an easy one?

They were leading, not dominating. Was like 4-2 or 3-2 and none had higher than 2.0 k/d.
Sometimes they even admit they're gonna vote purposely "no" to piss everyone ... The worst part is that the group usually fails to kick them out before they are allowed to vote. Almost as bad as the people who do not vote at all thinking that 7/8 votes for Yes and 0 for no is enough to continue game.
If someone wants a good match, I don't think Competitive is a viable option anymore

I don't really understand the frustration with this matching system? Doesn't everybody who play CS just pick 1 server they like, favorite it and play it over and over again? That way you can keep track of your stats within that 1 format too rather than the wonky one that is built into the game. I have wait times too because i play on a 30 player server thats always full but its worth it.

Not everyone likes 30 man pubs... People want to scrim without having to find a team / use mirc (or whatever that you use these days to find scrims) or pay for ESEA.

When you play more serious matches, I guess you won't ever play pub with 20 players in a server again...Well, maybe that depends on persons.
Now I don't even know how to play in a game that has like 20 players....

It's hard for me to comment or understand the frustrations with the so-called matchmaking system. It's also hard for me to care. Counter-Strike doesn't need it. There exists methods, some being pay-to-play (Let's be real, 6 bucks a month. Jesus.) that solve the problems easily. It seems a lot of you are looking for something in nothing. They'll always be public servers. Public servers haven't changed in the sense that the type of people public players attract. Just because they threw on "match making" doesn't mean it's going to be this awesome experience. Want competitive players? Want to be competitive in Counter-Strike? Stop pubbing.

If you toss the bomb down the scyscraper as a T and you have bots in the team, they will jump off to get it. Hilarious.

Counter-Strike was once at the top of the gaming world, and now it's been totally eclipsed by games like Call of Duty. It won't ever reach the heights it once had. So it annoys me when I see them screwing around with ridiculous concepts like match-making (WTF!?), they just don't understand what made CS great.

Bit late, but love the new maps. I clearly didn't play enough vertigo on 1.6 as I was totally lost for like a whole match trying to figure out where I was going. and you know what, I loved it. Theres no game I enjoy being lost and confused (in a good way) on a map more than counterstrike.
