I was with some people and they said that others couldnt join because server was full despite the bots.

Duuuuuude so stoked on this patch. Really addressed a lot of my gripes regarding competitive play. Most of them :-) now fix smoke glitch and tune registry, add silencer and wheeeeeeeeeee ^o^

Im tempted to try out esea but its quite a bit of money!

holy shit this patch has been shit... incredible everyone leaves and you get stuck with bots... your friends cant join to fill in. sorry but this is the wrong direction

Does anyone know if you can reconnect to matchmaking servers after you disconnected from them? For some reason my game crashes once in a while but can't find a way to reconnect to the server.

Amazing Patch !
It helps to boost my e-penis by making my k/d insanely high.
Thank you valve for making other team rage quit after 3 rounds so I end up playing bots for the rest of the game
-.-

Yeah, I'm really not liking this queue thing. It sounded like a good idea at first, but it sucks now because when people leave nobody else can take their place. I wish there was a forfeit or cancel match vote option or something.
|
I logged on and thought "wow new queue system, awesome!" come here to praise them.
Hear how fucked it actually is. Q.Q
Vertigo awesome though, i never played it.

Vertigo awesome though, i never played it. Completely fucked up system. Half-assed updates.
I see people start shoot each other if they want to quit. So they get kicked then the penalty ban is only 5 min not 30. Very smart. After doing 2 matches full of bots, I start to use this strategy too to get out of a game !!! Hahaha. Nice finding !!

Feels like they didn't put much thought in the new 30-minute ban rule. Hopefully valve releases a quick-fix seeing how many people are pissed cus of this.

Its not a completely fucked up system, they made error of judgement really.
What they need to do is remove the 30 min ban from leaving every game and make it something like 3-5 in a row in quick succession, i know you want a scrim like feature but its not going to work out.
Also, letting people join mid-game due to leavers is a must, give them something like half the average of cash from your team or even just the average, or take a percentage from each player to donate to them etc, something that would make it work out. But i would make it first half only or after 10 round wins or something of the sort, to prevent joining at the end of the game.
Quick ideas, but something i feel could be worked on to make their system better.

I'm currently in a 5 min ban and I'm posting in TL. :D
update: After my first ban of 5 minutes, I joined a game and my team has 3 bots. So I began to tk again then I get a 10 minutes ban. So it seems the ban time increases after each ban, maybe up till 30 minutes? It's delicate design!!

no. no filling the game with others players, instead make the game save to leave for everyone once someone has not reconnected for like 5 minutes. severe punishment for everyone abandoning a game. 30 minutes no queue alone is nothing. if you ragequit you leave the game and dont plan to play in the next 30 minutes anyways. track it and for multiple left games no competitive queue for an extended amount of time (several days onwards).

Yes, ten ragequit in a row should be disable his whole steam account! So he loses all games he bought from steam!

the system works perfectly for dota. if some cs players cant properly behave online its their problem, there are still enough public servers for those, or casual matchmaking. they could even open up another queue that uses competitive play rules but with an open join/leave system like before, so everyones happy.

Well, there are at least two significant differences:
1. DotA only has one map, so there's no chance that players will end up on a map that they don't like. 2. DotA has a much larger effective player base because there's a greater concentration of players in a single game mode and ping is less important. That improves ability-matching, so one-sided games are less common.
I'm not even sure if CSGO attempts ability-matching yet. It may be futile given CS's player population. Note that the more options and modes you add, the worse match making will work. Ideally you want as many players as possible in a single game mode.
My inclination would be as follows: 1. Allow a fairly wide ability range within a team, but try to balance teams against each other. 2. Allow replacements by default. Ability-match them. 3. Fix bot autodifficulty (it's bugged). 4. Add a surrender vote option.
Having no join/leave is damaging their ELO data, which just makes team-balancing harder and causes more ragequits. It's a vicious circle.
