Perhaps now the game is out someone wants to update OP?

CS has always been like that. Does it make sense? No, not all. But neither does you running faster because you're holding a knife even though the LMG is on your back. It's to make the weapons take longer to reload so it's not CoD with .3 second reload times.

And reloading mid mag should decrease your total ammo by the unused bullets in the used mag right? I hate when games get that realistic. It ruins part of the fun and just makes things frustrating. But maybe that's just me, I also hate games like Forza which are more like driving simulators than actual games. I'll take mario kart and TF2 over "realistic" games any day. CS I feel has a good balance that should appeal to both crowds.

I don't think the OP is a very active poster on these boards. Besides after 144 pages, maybe it'd just be better to start a new thread...
Edit: If someone's interested in starting a TL clan that could be reason enough to make a new discussion thread for GO. I would also be interested in joining such a clan.

There's already a TL group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TLnet Clan tag in game is TL.net which works for me. Since there probably won't be an official TL CS team, I don't see why we can't just use this as a launch point. It's a public group plus it'll be easy to locate other TLers playing

Extremely disappointed with CS:GO. It's basically CS for the CoD kids. Game is completely locked down. Very little tweaking you can do in your config/console. CSS configs no longer work. Buy binds from CSS no longer work. Bloom/HDR are forced on by default (worst idea since lens flare in games). You're stuck with a shit crosshair you can't adjust. The game constantly has popup tips whenever I try to adjust a setting, like it assumes I'm some sort of retard. The buy menu is completely fucked and looks like it's made for consoles.
There are NO options to make the game look and feel like 1.6/CS:S, for example having the old buy menu or just having the classic plaintext menu. Guns feel like something out of CoD, there's no feedback, no feeling that what you're shooting is lethal and will kill. Christ, even Battlefield 3 guns feel more manly than the peashooters in this game. Recoil patterns are pretty much completely random. The player models are just plain shit.
You can no longer force minimal models (e.g. having all CT look like SAS and all T look like 1337). The new player models are extremely hard to distinguish between. The molotov is extremely bad for competitive play. It basically locks down a rush pathway and makes the game more predictable. the decoy grenade is just made for stupid people who won't be listening for footsteps or have any map awareness. The maps layouts have been changed, some for better, some for worse.
They've basically took what was good from CSS and ruined it.

Fair amount of bullshit in this post. You can tweak the crosshair in more ways than you could in source, the buy menu is simple and fast to use, you complain about not having minmodels AND not being able to distinguish between models, really? Also the molotiv is easly disallowed, it's banned from all serious competetive matches I've played so far...

Yea I felt the same the first 5 minutes I played GO before I actually figured things out on my own.

The recoil feels reaaaaaaally strange, I don't know what happened with it. It really does feel random, and also, theres hardly any hit indication? I have no idea if I have hit the guy or not. That, and it's almost impossible to see what team a player is on, if you even manage to spot them at all.

That's what i thought for the first 2-3hours of play. but the spray patterns are actually consistent, they just get to the crazy "spray" part a lot quicker. Stutterstepping is probably going to be the best bet for doing well, early on, but I've gotten the hang of the spray patterns a bit, so I can do okay, just spraying~ Also, no 1 hit kill on m4 headshots drives me insane, I want to murder babies, and defecate on bodies everytime I get a headshot, but no kill.

complaining about models being too similar hard to tell who is enemy i find is a common complaint every time a new game comes out, it just takes getting used to, or you could just re-texture them to be bright green and yellow :D
|
same with the buy menu. B,4,2 on first round then F2 on subsequent rounds too hard for you to memorize?

So many kneejerk reactions in this thread. this game needs its own section under sports & games
(the olympics are over, yo!)

OMG this post ahahahahahaha. I would refute you point by point but uhhhhh....ya nm lol.

Ha, people need to play a few hours before they go stomping on the game. Way too many posts complaining about stuff that wouldn't even be a factor if they hadn't played one game and raged cause it isn't source.
Complaining about enemies looking too similar? Are you serious? I had a problem on maybe my first match on each map w/ new T models, but that's it. You know where they're coming from for the most part, and if they're on your team they'll be on your minimap -_- SC players shouldn't have much of a problem watching it.
Anyway, I'm really enjoying the game right now. Matchmaking is a nice alternative to source where finding a solid server to 5v5 on could be really annoying if your clan wasn't online or you hadn't played in a while. I don't have any problem with the game, all the complaints I've seen are typical "this isn't exactly the game I'm already good at" that come with any sequel.
|
Granted, there have been many recent cases recently where the new sequel is actually worse than the much older game *coughdiablo3cough* (also FF14, MW3, ME3, DA2)
But this really isn't one of those cases for me - it really is just an updated 1.6 with better graphics and some new, cool features. The biggest disappointment for me has been the buy menus. (Thats leagues better than ruining the entire itemization lol) Seriously, I can overlook the tiny issues (which will likely be fixed soon anyway) to get a great new shooter that could revive the Counter-Strike series. Also, in custom maps you can define what models are used so its conceivable that a single CT/T model is used in competition.

Care to explain why it's a dissapointment? I feel like it can't get much better than this. b42 and you are set...?

meh, the only real thing that i don't like about cs:go is weapon switch time, everything else has been pretty good. Also sorta sad there's no cross platform play, i wanted to smash xbox players faces in.

i agree the buy menu is kind of in your face, but its not ... broken. what a ridiculous thing to complain about.
