So you've admitted to crying about Counter-Strike just now, and you've compared something that came out PRIOR to COD, to COD, then translated that comparison BACK to CS:GO. Are you gunna cry about how CS and COD are both trying to emulate real life, and that because it was done in real life first, they should be shunned? I don't get your fucking point. You're just looking for a reason to bitch, instead of rejoicing that CS:GO is now available, playable, and much better than CS:S...and COD.

Lol, all Sawamura said was that the training map reminds him of the COD training map. I can see why people inferred as they did, but no reason to keep the wall up after his intentions were revealed.

The hell is wrong with you people lol.
Well it looks like things are getting into gear. My friends have gathered their teams together and are scrimming a whole lot over ESEA. High-level CS players are on such a higher level then us average players, sounds redundant but more true than you initially would imagine. They almost NEVER come out to pub with me, and the one night they did they freaking demolished every single pubstar they ran into in the so called "competitive" mode. It was just so sad lol and I realized that they never pub because that shit is so easy its boring and does not help them improve at all. I would see groups of people coming in with some cool "serious bzns" clan tags and get embarrassed. The power of invite players is really something, probably comparable to High Master and GM on SC2.
The way I feel when I feel when I play with them is probably how they feel when they play SC2 with me. I've never touched platinum and below so I didn't know what it was like. I was watching them position and peek through all these nice angles, making good decisions, making some sexy picks like it was nothing.... while I was just playing like your average player who at least knew some positions, nades, and strats but couldn't hit shit when it counted. It's a good healthy humbling experience.
I'm mentioning all this because when I join a game and listen to people talk like they know EVERYTHING it really seems kinda silly to me. Of course we see those kinds of people all the time but coming into CS:GO and listening to people's wonderful 1 - 2 year pubstar past times OVER AND OVER... that shit gets old pretty quick. I mean I played Source almost exclusively competitively (1.6 and CZ as a little kid having fun) but I keep my mouth shut and just have fun while I sip my beer n lime.

Is there something like ESEA for european players?
|
Skimming through the last few pages, sorry, people are so goddam emotional and hostile. Anyway, there was a training course in Counter-Strike, in versions 1.5 and earlier. I don't think "wow this is like cod", I think "look, it's a fuckin training map again." Why are people so quick to compare this to CoD? Stop giving CoD that much credit. I don't compare every band I like to shitty mainstream music to justify my own opinions.
In response to someone earlier, dust1 is in ESEA league rotation because there's like... what, 5 maps or something, heh. The maps suck now but that's not a concern for me, remember when sc2 first came out? Yep.
Also, I believe ESEA is attempting to expand to Europe currently. (again)

I havent played competetive CS for few years but im pretty sure CS 1.6 worked like that for most people in EU IRC ---> get people ---> ESL where you can either scrim or play clan vs clan (ton of leagues including even 1v1). It worked for years didnt check it last, but i dont see why they wouldnt continue it.
Lol anyone remember good old days of Clanbase and exploiting the shit out of ladders?(being in 20 different clans :D)
And a game probably with biggest training course was Americas Army, oh god i remember it like through like a fog, i tried it so many years ago but i got discouraged.

So I stopped playing competitive CS just as ESEA was getting off the ground. Is that like the go to place for competitive play? I've been to their website a few times and was never really impressed, and that's coming from someone who generally just idled #findscrim

For 1.6 yes. It may change for csgo because people dot want to pay a monthly fee. There will always be irc.

I think the real game is out... My beta crashed, then when I went back on Steam, it only says the full game now.

This was my main feeling of animosity toward the site. I can certainly understand the necessity back in the 1.6 days, but with the steam community as big as it is now, I'm a bit surprised more people don't utilize community groups and such more to get scrims going

I just checked my steam library, and my beta turned into the actual game. So now I have two "Counter Strike: Global Offensive"s.
EDIT: One's playable, the other isn't. The playable is the one that used to be the beta. EDIT 2: Restarting fixed it
