Even though I have 1000+ hours in the game, I am a big noob. I only ever play until red maps and give up around Maven. Having said that I will, once again, be a meta slave and roll Kinetic Fusillade Ballistas on a Hiero Last season I had fun with RF Chieftain and made it all the way to level 92. Aside from Kinetic Fusillade I was thinking of trying the new Shock Nova on an Archmage Hiero setup instead of the standard Ice Nova, or Zizaran's Boneshatter Jug or even Alkaizer's Earthshatter Zerker. | ||

Think i'll kinda go semi-meta and do that bleed slam slayer build. I had an eye on that one for half of last league, but couldnt be arsed to play another build. Also, i think the last time i played duelist must be at least 6 yrs ago, or maybe even longer? So it'll be a fresh experience, at least for me. Also, i might finally use recombinators to make a weapon or so. I never used that since it wasre-introduced actually. Did some early test runs for a few acts and had good fun, so just sticking with it instead of having the usual "BUT MAYBE I COULD ALSO PLAY THIS for 5 hours before league start". | ||

Also played a bit of spire 2 before the league started. Unfortunate timing on it's release. The multiplayer for it is kind of interesting, though. Most of the exceptional gems that came out don't look super appealing. I'm not really sure how I'd make any use of many of them. It feels kind of weird that they took away a later game scaling vector for most builds. Maybe their intent is to nerf damage a bit, but a lot of builds are just going to end up staying on regular links forever and that feels unsatisfying. My guess pre-league was that KF would be #1 most played starter because it was a known entity from last league and got a lot of pre-league hype from build makers. So far, it looks like it's head and shoulders in the lead at 11% with slams and ele hit next at 6%. I'm a little surprised to see so many people pick up absolution at 5% (though it did look good in the previews). I'm currently in the slams bucket, though I'm following Lance down the bizarre path that is vaal BV with the new vaal sacrifice support. | ||

I've progressed to 4 voidstones and farmed about 15 div so far. It's a bit of a strugglebus since I'm trying not to spend money on furthering this build much (since I'm planning to respec), but I've only got like 500k dps so the pinnacles were painfully slow. Mapping isn't too bad since glad explosions carry pretty hard. Breach needs some more variety back in terms of breachlords. Fighting Vruun about twice a map gets pretty old in a hurry. The market for decent rares has pretty much already cratered, so I might just dump everything into uniques/currency soon. It seems like they forgot to actually include the itemized memory threads they showed in the content preview. Eagon just puts the thread on your map like before and you can't even search for them on trade. In other news, there's a new Timeless jewel that seems to be focused around Ward. There's a pretty interesting Keystone: Removes all Energy Shield Chance to Evade Hits is based off of 200% of your Ward instead of your Evasion Rating Physical Damage Reduction from Hits is based off of 200% of your Ward instead of your Armour Since Ward builds already tend toward Faithguard, I don't see that as much of a downside. It does seem like it would solve a big part of the missing defenses ward builds tend to have. Get some max res and maybe spell block, pump ward to 30k or so, and stick on a Nightgrip. About 3k flat chaos and what seems like very solid defenses to build around. There are also a couple notables on the jewel that give you various charges when your ward breaks, which would be basically any time you're hit. Brass Dome on Reliquarian was an obvious first thought, but I don't know that there's really enough offered by that ascendancy to make it useful. With Elementalist, Primordial Bond stacking should be way stronger this league since you can keep it and reroll to a cluster that actually does something, but Elementalist and chaos has no synergy and you can't use the Dark Monarch to double Golems since you're using Faithguard. One or way or the other I think you're stuck on the top side of the tree to leverage ES scaling. Dunno yet, but it's an interesting idea to play around with. | ||

I'm also laughing at all the people sperging out over no new class and that Keepers teaser having a sword in it being just 1 huge jebait. They also announced this will be the LAST 0.x update, and we'll be getting a full 1.0 release this year after Exilecon... so either late November or December. VERY bold move, Cotton. Let's see how it plays out for them. They have also stated that 1.0 will be even bigger than 0.5 AND that they don't intend to launch with all classes released/in place. :O | ||

He says developing league mechanics actually takes a long time and they felt like "if not after 0.5, then when?" because each subsequent early access version like 0.6 0.7 0.8 would add more league mechanics each time (they can't imagine launching a new league without a new league mechanic) and they'd have to put in even more stuff that would eventually need fixing, tuning or changing on top of the stuff that is already there. With 0.4 being small and its reworks spilling into 0.5 + a new league mechanic, they felt this was the best time to end early access. They WILL launch with Act 5 & 6 for 1.0, but even before Early Access started they said to themselves internally that for 1.0 they don't NEED all the classes and ascendencies ready and in-game. Around the 6:30 mark, but I HIGHLY suggest watching the whole thing. Incredible insight if you're interested into the behind-the-scenes kind of thing. I personally have a sneaking suspicion that they will also squeeze in just 1 more proper class into the game for 1.0, with 2 ascendencies and maaaaybe an additional ascendecy or 2 for the existing classes. Think about it, the wait between 0.4 and 0.5 was ~5 months, and then they'll have the same time frame between 0.5 and 1.0 release at the end of the year (if they keep to their goal) | ||

Here is another recent interview (post 0.5 reveal), but its more general about gaming design philosophy, the state of the live service gaming industry, recent "stop killing games" initiative etc. There's still POE mixed in there because Jonathan Rogers keeps drawing upon their (GGG's) experience with the topic at hand, but its just much more broader. | ||
