I think I quit playing online because of mash dp during my 1 frame link attempts. lol

Haha yeah this is so true. I'm still a total scrub, mainly because I always switch characters as soon as I somewhat get the hang of them (been through Oni, Juri, Ryu, Guile, Makoto and now Yang). At this point I have almost given up on attempting links, cause of those dp mashers. They literally do it all match long as soon as they start blocking or after every jump or what have you. Being the scrub I am I am not able to REALLY (I'd do something like s.mp xx Rekkas) punish them correctly if they whiff so they get away with it. I think that is the biggest problem for us "bronze" guys: punishing the lame stuff others abuse. e.g. Juri whiffs hk pinwheel on me -> I try to punish -> eat EX pinwheel -.-.

I also have some beginner questions regarding yang:
- what is the ideal follow-up for a divekick (on hit, on block, low, high)?
- how do I follow up a command grab (to me it seems the frame advantage after it is extremely small)?
- how do I approach passive turtling players (i guess this is more in general)?

If someone equally nooby wants to play with me in endless feel free to message me on GFWL, ID is the same as here. Usually online at around 7-11 PM CET

I'm new to the whole fighting genre. My friend let me borrow his fight stick indefinitely, before that I was using the dpad. I could execute all my moves on the dpad pretty easily but I'm having a tough time getting my ultimate/super off on the fight stick, especially when my character is on the right side. I know there are short cuts to get things off like holding down+forward, forward for shoryuken. Are there any other shortcuts or tips out there for fight sticks?

Common problems for new stick users are accidental jumping (you moved the stick too far upward trying to move forward or back), charge motions (especially ultras) because they end on up-forward or down-forward, and double-quarter-circle super/ultra motions (they tend to come out as EX DPs).

Since you're having problems with the super motion, make sure you go into training mode, turn on input display, and take note of what directions you're actually pressing versus when you're pushing the buttons. Are you doing down, down-forward, forward, down, down-forward + PPP, forward (hitting the buttons too early)? Are you not moving the stick far enough in the forward direction so that direction isn't being recorded at all? The input buffer in SF4 is pretty lenient which means you can afford to actually hold forward for a few frames when doing qcfqcf, then just hit the button and the super/ultra will come out.

Quick question on that? Do you actually mean button? or do you mean buttons?
Personally on my own stick I find it much easier to manually hit all 3 punch of all 3 kick instead of having my 7th and 8th button bound for triples.

Doesn't matter whether it's one button or multiple, it's the directional input that I'm talking about.

Not my point. Making a fuss about pp, yours or someone elses, when talking about balance just makes you sound like a gigantic online warrior.

Thats not have i meant it though it was mostly about why do low rated players talk about balance when they play the game wrong? Its like a bronze leaguer that thinks 1base mutas are OP just because he doesnt know what to do against it but when a good player faces it its a free win

Oh so people in bronze league cannot watch pro level games and make informed decisions about it? I think it was pretty obvious to even bronze level people watching morrow vs idra at IEM that reapers were REALLY REALLY strong...

edit: also I don't see David Kim out and winning tournaments, what makes him worthy of balancing the game?
I don't see Dustin Browder winning any tournements why should he have any input into the game?

That's a pretty terrible argument btw because both Dustin and David Kim are barred from entering tournaments because they're developers :V

Does anyone know - between 360/PS3/PC community - which is the most popular? That is to say has the most players, and likely to find diverse opponents at any time of the day. I played SSF4 back when it came out and now am looking to get into AE, just want to know what version I should buy. Thanks in advance if anyone can assist me. ^^

360 is the most popular but PC is gaining momentum due to having arcade perfect port (which the other two do NOT have)
Plus the netcode for PC is much better.

Now if they would only release MvC3 on PC >.>. Glad they did the SSF4:AE PC port though (thought they forgot about it when SSF4 came out and there was no word on SSF4 for the PC).

mvc looked like such a mess at evo. i never played it, but it looked so freaking fast and chaotic with super ridiculous combos. a game so little fun to watch cant be that good ...

however, i would like mk9 for pc. oO
the hit detection seemed terrible, but still a very fun to watch game with an excellent meter system (at least thats my first expression).

To be honest, anyone who plays this extensively online is more or less "playing it wrong", because of how many bad habits it teaches you. Even a slight latency will make it unrealistically easy to land some moves (e.g. Blanka slide, Ibuki neck breaker, poorly spaced Fei rekka), and get away with unsafe things because you can't react to them quickly enough, whereas offline you could.

stop this nonsense. Yes, online is definitely a factor and it can mess you up bad when the connection isnt perfect, but when the connection is good I can still perform 2 frame links at a reasonable consistency and punish/block things on reaction (definitely more than enough to react to a blanka slide). Im talking PC btw, maybe XBox or PS3 the difference is worse? The really big problem with offline is that not everyone is fortunate enough to live in asia or USA, where you possibly still find arcades around. So where do you find decent players that play a variety of chars if not online?

This, 360/PS3 must have pretty bad netcode, nearly any match I play on PC with yellow or higher bars I notice no delay whatsoever and am usually able to pull off 1 link combos and punish things as if I was sitting next to a mate at an arcade.

making a fuss about balance is already pretty iffy no matter what your skill level is, even the best players have suggested stupid things.

nor does it really matter because i'm pretty dang sure opinions shared on a random messageboard online are not considered by capcom.

low pp is just icing on the cake.

It turns out most balance whine is biased in the favor of the whiner's main. Shocker.

I don't think zangief has enough range on his heavy spd. It should be adjusted to be slightly less than light spd. I have 2k XBL (worth more than PC) so I know what I am talking about, moreso than that 500pp PC player, ya I'm that gosu. I also know Vangief would agree with this change, so you know at the pro level it is indeed imbalanced

i remember i went to some arcade in akihabara and they were showing footage of an SF2 Rainbow Tournament they had, lol.

if guile threw a fierce sonic boom 3/4 of the screen and kept throwing them, you were stuck in blockstun for the rest of the round.

vega can climb the fence on any stage and barcelona dive grab you from like anywhere if hes midscreen distance from you iirc. and this is low tier shit yo

rainbow edition is hilariously fun for about 2 days until you and your friends get bored, in which case you don;t play it for a few months and then try it again and have fun again.

She's forgotten only because no one complains about her. She has been a very good character since vanilla SF4, and still is.

Gen is even more forgotten though, at least I saw a few Chuns in EVO.

I'm looking for some practice partners in the west coast (Southern California) region for some practice endless matches.

I am a 200pp player for my second character yun and I'm a 2000pp player with my bison. I am in the middle of transitioning from a charge character to a non charge character which explains the massive difference in points. I am willing to play either character as practice so PM me for some practice matches.
