I started it for the quests and now I'm enjoying just the general training aspect of it.
They have a massive problem with bots I think. My friend tells me the game is absolutely littered with them. I suppose they run the risk due to the sheer amount of grinding in the game, people just can't be bothered I guess.
This guide is well written. However I am pretty sure its not really needed since tutorial island covers most of this. But nonetheless you wrote it well :D
Runescape consumed much of my middle school and early high school life. Once they took away pking I quit. Now that it's back i've been tempted to play again. However, there is so much new stuff I almost just don't feel like it's worth logging on my accounts. Oh well... Long live Pest Control before it was nerfed!
lol i used to play this game in the school library when i was 12-15 years old i'm 21 now fyi. It's still so ugly and i'm never going back to that kiddie game again, i'm over it and when i was done WoW was the next step to MMO entertainment.

Yeah, there is a lot of grinding and a lot of botting. No one knows why the game is so addicting.
I was (and probably still am) addicted to this game. It is all I thought about during school, it is all I did in my free time. My school marks dropped a bit and I didn't have many friends. I am coming out of the addiction mostly now though, as I am just bored of the game. I've done everything I wanted to do, so until they add something else that is game-changing, I see no real reason to play on my main.
Yeah I've put in over 240 days in the game. Level 138 with like 8 or 9 99s. Anyone who says it is a waste of life needs to realize that all games are a waste of life if you aren't having fun. I used to think the same thing though, blah blah blah RS is a waste of life. If you stop grinding though and just do what you like to do in the game and get enjoyment out of it, then it is a good experience.
I can also help out on the faq if you'd like, I've been playing since 2002 and know every area and quest in the game. Thanks for the guide, and I hope any new players that are coming aboard have fun experience.
Runescape is both a great and terrible game. Imagine WoW where you can do everything by yourself, and thus not have to interact with retards for the most part. At the same time, it obviously lacks the graphics and sophistication of many other MMORPGs. Runescape is addicting, fun, but relies on incredible amounts of grinding. At the same time, it lets you immerse yourself in your character quite a bit, and you can tailor yourself far more then you can in say WoW.
And with the Wilderness being brought back, the PvP system isn't shit anymore!
I've played this game for ages, had loads of fun clanning but kind of quit when my clan closed after 5-6 years (RDC, the name probably won't ring a bell though).

Yeah, i've been in many clans, the biggest ones being Solar Angels and The Death Monkeighs.
First one closed down, reopened, closed down, reopened, closed down and i think they are re-opened atm.
Yeah, Well I was only in SA for a little while, I left because I wasn't a fan of the warring-clan atmosphere. Funny thing is, now the only thing I like doing is PKing.
I also used to make RS videos, but lately been focused on videos from other games.
I actually played this game quite a lot before I started playing BW. All MMO's are terrible unless you have a good group of people to play with, then almost any crap can be fun :p
Main was like 110 or something, with 94 magic back when it was easy to get when Pest Control gave broken amounts of XP.
Never did get the fire cape in the end had a bunch of rares though.
I still PK with good friend periodically, but only on F2P with range/2h. Was my first competitive gaming experience I suppose lol
when i was a kid I had a legitimate business going inside the game....
I had miners that would mine me rune essence I would buy it for like 15g per rune.... then I would turn around and sell it en mass to a crafter for 25-30 a pop.... I offered equipment insurance and always gave my miners mithril gear it was literally to the point where I was bringing in 300k ever 20 minutes....
I quit 2 years ago and still constantly getting irc pms from previous e-fame lol. Ye, wasted too much time on this game, game has some potential, but community is absolute crap.
