I'll say America was very well repped this tournament.
No more than any other year last year was jwong in finals + more americans and year before was ricky+ more americans but well played japan
Japan sent a much bigger entourage here to the States this year, and Americans beat down more than half of them. Singaporeans also sent their own people, and then there's Poongko and Gamerbee and that Dominican Fei Long.
As far as the "International-ness" scale goes, this Evo is much, much higher than ANY previous evos, and America got 3 players in top 8 and one of them got 2nd place, taking out Daigo, Tokido, and Poongko in the progress. Juicebox, Strider, Valle, and Justin also play very good Street Fighter.
This is a bit irrelevant but we also won all the other games.
I don't even play fighting games much and play SC2 much more yet this is so much better than watching MLG. There's so much manufactured hype for SC2. SC2 just felt so much more corporate while there's a good feeling of community for the fighting game. There's so much drama, energy, personality from both the crowd and the players.
Justin's comeback over Dickwin was a better comeback since it was actually a finishing blow on a pixel, and to get into top 8. IMO that was the moment of the year.
