Shogun 2 really is amazing though. I tried out the demo back when it was released, but I never picked it up for some reason. Worth every cent.
Don't forget to get the DarthMod

Only spent 100€ during the sale. Top three games that I bought: 1. The Witcher 2 2. Portal 2 3. Deus Ex:Human Revolution
Honorable mentions: Mirror's Edge, Half-Life 2(never got around to playing it before) and Max Payne 3.

Are these X games on sale worth thinking about? I used to really enjoy space sims but it seems the genre hasn't been doing well recently so I'm always suspicious of these.

I got that for like $5; I wouldn't recommend it for even that price. I've played a little bit so far, and my impression is that it's like a space mod for Civ 4. The scroll is buggy too: that's something that shouldn't have made it past release. Sometimes when I scroll to the bottom right, it gets stuck and keeps going there no matter where I move the camera. The gameplay seems pretty meh as well. I enjoyed the space mod that shipped with Civ 4 BTS more than this game, tbh.
NVM didn't know what you were talking about. Anyway, I don't really recommend Galciv 2 because Civ 4 seems better in every way except cost.

I played the first game too but I don't remember much from it since it was such a long time ago. I finished MP3 a while ago. It wasn't anything spectacular but it was enough to keep me really interested in the game until I finished it.
It definitely felt like a high-quality game, the combat was decent, I liked the cutscenes and the storytelling in particular but it lacks replayability and the multiplayer was pretty bad. Still had a good time with the singleplayer for as long as it lasted. 7.5 or 8/10 imo.

You get the full badge on your steam profile.

Those games will devour your time like no other. If you manage to actually get into them that is. It's freaking complex and complicated and a tutorial is pretty much non existant.
Instead you could pretty much just start playing EVE Online.. :D

Which I now can't even find, lol. Well not like I was really trying to get it, but it's sort of disappointing to know its essentially useless. Would've been nice if they made some sort of tangible reward like I think they did last year.
Oh well, got some great games for cheap

Not sure what to think of Dragon Age: Origins yet

Best RPG since KotOR by far. You have so many choices, its awesome.
I played now 10hrs of Witcher1: Enhanced Edition and I can't believe I missed that Game. I thought it was much older, but it looks pretty much like all Console-Games of 2012 and its much more Classic-RPG than Witcher2. Absolute STEAL for 1.99€ :D

It was just to force people to join the Grp and buy something.

After the disaster that was the coal thing, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone to be honest.

All these games, and my steam decides to bug out and all my dl's are currently 'suspended'. =( While steam is a blessing its sometime a massive pain in the rear.

Try pressing "play" on the games that are stuck, it should pop up a dialogue box that asks you if it can convert the data format, or something like that. That should fix it. It did for me anyway.

When I bought the Fear set:
Fear 1: I remembered a pant pissing game that scared the crap out of me the first time I played it. Fulfilled expectations. Fear 2: Never played it. Wish I never had, too long too boring not scary Fear 3: Fuck it not even bothering, so this is why it was on sale.
Oh yeah, Men of War turned out to be a buggy snoozefest. Well, it's a bit buggy but the rest is just fundamentally flawed. I guess if I wanted to take a three week correspondence course to learn how to play I might like the game more but I can't really dig into it. Just a lot of AI doing dumb shit and reviews extolling the game for its difficulty..

any tips for galciv2? what am i supposed to do? with the limited space on planets and the often very limited planets to expand to there seems not that much to do. i playd the game like 2 hours in 2 games and in neither anything happened. no fights, no big expanding. auto explore, automine, build some stuff on your 2 planets and then what to do? just build a giant wall of mass starbases?
the game looks interesting but from the limited time i played it just nothing happened with nothing much to do. so thankful for any pointers

well, first of all 2 planets is way to few for any strategy. Some strategies expans until your economy completely crashes. Also, 4x games dont start to get interesting until a few hundred turns in when all available resources are taken and the conflicts start. And if the game is no challenge in general, you need to up the difficulty.
maybe your problem is that you arent instantly punished when doing something very wrong and you think "no expanding, autoexplore, automine" is a valid strategy. But i can tell you that you would have lost against an AI that is around your skill level, even if it maybe wasnt apparent right away in the game.
