New games I bought: Terraria - $2.50 Legend of Grimrock - $6.00 Mirror’s Edge - $5.00 Batman: Arkham Asylum - $6.80 Thief: Deadly Shadows - $2.50 Deus Ex: Human Revolution - $7.50 Mount and Blade collection (mainly for Warband) - $8.75 Total cost - about $39 Free games discovered: Realm of the Mad God
Games on my Steam library I might revisit: Custom stories for Amnesia: The Dark Descent (downloaded White Night and Tenebris Lake) Dragon Age: Origins (I want to see if there’s a way to play where you don’t have to micromanage all the characters in your party constantly, I just don’t really like doing that and it frustrated me. Is there a way to effectively play where you only switch the character you control based on what you feel like controlling at that time?) Bioshock 2 (never got around to it) Penumbra series (same)

I think it would be pretty easy to ignore your party most of the time if you play on a lower difficulty. If you want to keep the difficulty setting up though, creating good tactics can help reduce the need for a lot of the micromanagement as well. With the right tactics, you can completely ignore your healers and tanks; they follow their tactics and you can play whatever character you want, ideally a DPS character of some kind (all 3 classes can do this quite well if spec'ed correctly).
Also, I've tallied up the additions to my hoard from this sale:
Dead Space Dead Space 2 Crysis Crysis Warhead Divine Divinity Divinity 2 Dragon Knight Saga Metro 2033 Thief Gold Thief 2 Thief Deadly Shadows
They ended up being about $45 total, and will be added to my ever growing list of games purchased during some sale that I may or may not ever play, like Bioshock 1/2, Stalker SOC and COP, Borderlands, Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines... damn you steam

and as long as the games dont crash "too old" is a silly complaint when the gameplay is 10/10.
Thank you, finally someone who appreciate Gothic! You can spent Weeks and Months in 1 and 2! And i said myself that gothic 3 isnt that great, but hey, for 10€ i can't complain! ^.^ got myself a nice oldschool feeling when purchasing 1 and 2

Just want to extend my thanks to posters in this thread, helped a lot in my decisions and judgments of games on sale. Being that I involve myself in Counter-Strike most of the time, I have no idea what's going on in the gaming industry.
ENJOY MY MONEY, STEAM~

Without the extensive use of Tactics, it really isn't easy even on the lowest difficulty setting, especially if you don't play a character that can actively control the battlefield in terms of aggro, positioning, etc.
The thing that sucks about Tactics, if memory serves me right, is that you have to invest talent points into it to get enough slots to be able to "program" reasonable behavior.

i dont think dragon age is supposed to be played by controlling just one char. i play on hard and if i would do that, i would be wiped like every second combat. The enemies can have all the skills the player party can have, and they use them reasonably good. Even if you have 1 super strong main char, there are a lot of spells that will stop you from doing anything.
I like the complete rgeneration outside combat, it means every single combat can be made very challenging and close to wiping the player.

Try Arcane Warrior in DA:O - really overpowered Specc. Loved the game and played through at least 3times on hard.

Was reasonably small sale to me, picked up: Arkham City Alan Wake Splinter Cell Conviction
Was planning to get Witcher 2 and AC Revelations and saw few other interesting ones such as Divinity II, but I'm not in a rush. Considering I still have many games in backlog and play Dota 2 these days rather actively, I doubt I'd even play some of them before winter sale at this rate.
Still haven't installed Splinter Cell, but gotta say Alan Wake despite it's clumsy combat and Arkham City have been very enjoyable so far.

these sales are killing me !!
must ...buy.........everything on supersale !
Last weekend wasn't " too bad ". Bought all the Crusader Kings 2 DLC's bought Civ 5 and xpac bought age of empires 3 complete collection (not on sale but wanted it ! ) bought a couple of total war games that i had misplaced whilst moving somehow ( rome and medieval 1 )
yeah ... not too bad.

lol. So true!
I didn't get that many games this time, but "that many" games means I still got 5. I already own so many of the games that went on sale it's ridiculous.
|
All I bought was Portal 2 for $4.99.
I feel like I survived this one.
|
I bought so much shit during a couple of the previous steam sales and throughout the year that I haven't bought a single game in this or the previous steam sale. I JUST got around to playing Terraria and Batman:AC that I bought in previous sales.

Got a good haul this sale, I usually don't spend as much though.
Witcher 1 & 2 (Always wanted these games) Shogun 2 ( played all other total wars and finally have a pc to run this) Crysis because I miss a good shooter. Fable lost chapters (only played original) The ship for the lols Dues Ex ( played the original) Civ 4 GOTY, big fan
Does anyone know how I can transfer the data for my steam games from my windows 7 machine to my linux machine? My internet is .1megabits per second so I cant download them again, I used my friends internet on my laptop to download them but it cant run some of the more demanding games.

I've had a nice sale as well, I picked up Portal 2 and Shogun 2 for ~15€. Was tempted by several other titles (GalCiv2, Conviction, DE:HR, SRIII, etc.), but between Dota2 and GW2 I don't expect to have a lot of time for other games... so I'm proud to report that I've held on to my money.
Shogun 2 really is amazing though. I tried out the demo back when it was released, but I never picked it up for some reason. Worth every cent.
