Of course, this game cannot have everything and perhaps won't live up to the hype, but after the disaster that was DA2 it could not be released at a better time - as long as it's better (which is almost certain by now), that fact alone will guarantee the game's success.

you have all got used to console prices!!! cummon The market for games now is GIGANTIC. Aslo the price tag on a game really doesnt reflect the amount of work gone into it - it reflects the demand for the game generated by marketing. the game gets a budget and it is made within that budget or it doesn;t get released. When you look at the legendary flops that miss their deadlines its invariably because they went way over budget and had to relelase a crock of shit. by settign an initial price of $45 they secure a large nubmer of sales ... they will then drop it later so that it is also affordable in many other economies. If it was at $30 id buy it just because i liked witcher 1, at $45 that means i cannot buy some other games that i want.

Digital sales profit them much, much more - and in the case of CDProjekt, digital sales at GOG profit them the most (which I guess is the reason it's the only place you can get a 100% DRM free copy, to lure customers who would otherwise choose steam over GOG in a hearbeat). As a matter of fact, EA games are usually pretty cheap here in Belgium. I never pay more than 45eur for them, including bigger releases such as Bulletstorm. Activision releases on the other hand, are ridiculously expensive.

Don't really want to take this further but since i was so grossly misunderstood: Baldurs Gate 2 (BG2) art style: is not outdated. In fact the pre rendered backgrounds are timeless and most of them would look good framed on a wall. The Witcher/Gears art style: was outdated as the game launched - stereotypical characters and monsters and a very boring take on a generic fantasy world. BG2 view of man: was shit - yes, but it wasn't openly offensive. The Witcher/Gears view of man: no comment necessary. BG2 story: characters you can relate to, good dialogue, immersible world. The Witcher/Gears story: worse than low budget fantasy movies.

What I liked most about the first game was the world and the feel it had, if they can bring the witcher 2 anywhere close to that its a succes in my book. The music is also worth mentioning as it was amazing.

In any case, I pre-ordered with them (GOG) only to see that Direct2Drive is offering 25% off pre-orders, so I'll be buying it through D2D and saving the $12.
