and the game still has TERRIBLE "reload" lags. on every map except operation metro i get a terrible spike of like 2 to 3 seconds when I die for example, the map switches the camera view to another region and has to load some textures and reload some VBOs to the graphic card memory. this also happens randomly when i play and turn around fast, or when I cross a region where their octrees load more stuff into gpu memory. this happens a lot actually and has caused me to die several times.
also the game crashes a TON on startups of games. when i join a server, it crashes while loading, and sometimes it finishes loading and then crashes on class select/deploy screen.
i think this will get fixed in a further driver catalyst update (i already have the 11.10 version), but for now this really sucks.

other than that, the game is freaking awesome. I think the sound in this game does a good 70% of why the atmosphere in this game is so amazing.
I have the same setup except the GTX 460 and I'm playing with everything on high very smoothly.

is it smoother than beta? i.e less gliches, falling through ground, ump balance, vehicles behaving correctly

Seems better in every way.

If you're still coasting on an older PC, they did give you an option- upgrade.
Upgrading now would be stupid.
And thats really not an good option anyway, since some of the graphics in game are absolutely worthless. They are added there to make the game look "realistic" and what not, but in the end they are there to annoy you - they won't add any realism to it what so ever. All the unnecessary glowing for most part should and could be optional.
And while we are at it, why not let us get some "advanced video settings"..

Yes, of course it is. Though, they could slow down the vehicles a bit. They seem to be extremely fast. :o

wtf I pre-ordered the game I get home and am installing now. Origin opens, prompts me to login, then proceeds to download 11 GIGS!!!! WTF why did I buy this game if I'm adding 11 gigs to my monthly downloads anyway?? Up here in shitty Montreal Videotron owns a monopoly over cable internet and has the worst packages known to man. They are crazy expensive for any additional bandwidth per month. So great EA thanks alot haven't even opened the game yet and I'm already pissed off at your horrible customer service which can't even pick up the phone and your amateurish game development which does not make any rational sense.

I'm quite happy with battlefield 3, went to the release party near my gamestop. I wish there was co-op online though. And the vehicle controls are hard to learn. Other than that its a great time.

Why didn't you just buy a physical copy if you're worried about bandwidth usage? Of course it's gonna be 11 gigs...

The only file that you will be downloading is the 472.1MB patch. If you have the physical copy, it would appear as if it was downloading from origin but it isn't. It's actually installing the game from the CD. I proved this by ejecting the disc in the middle of the so-called "Download" then was asked to put the CD back in. You would also be prompted to put the disc 2.

Sorry when I said pre-ordered I should have said "a physical copy." I do have a physical copy, and that's why I was so pissed about having to download 11 gigs. Thankfully it seems EA just doesn't know how to type, as halfway through "downloading" it prompted me for disc 2. It seems downloading means "installing from disc" in EA speak. Thanks to those who posted above me for clearing that up since apparently EA can't be bothered to distinguish between downloading and installing from disc.

that's very odd... I'll see and check if I can improve something. Maybe run that dreaded defragmentation tool which is gonna take a solid week or something for a 1tb hard drive, lol

sorry for another one of "those questions". i have phenom quadcore 955 3, 2ghz, gtx 460, 4gb ddr 3 ram. will this game run on at least medium with more than 50 fps or will i have to play on low. i really dont want to play on low as i think half of the fun of bf3 will be the amazing graphics

I'm opposite really reminds me of good ole BF2 minus the no commander mode ^_^. in 32 vs 32 anyway I don't ever player smaller ones so can't comment on that, if you are playing rush then yeah it will remind you more of BC then BF imo.

you will easily get medium and the game if you set it to auto will even put some things on high

sigh, and you still need 7 players to actually play in a server. Why can't they just add someway to test everything out instead of this.

my overall view on singleplayer + Show Spoiler + I play on all ultra so the fighter mission was gr8
singleplayer was fun, it was basically call of duty but without any of the emotional attachment to the characters (other than Vladimir, idk why but i felt so sad when he died. Probably because of the way the game played during his death)
The actual action in BF3 was a billion times funner, ie when the MiG is trying to strafe you. I was like aHHHHHHHHHHH and i kept looking back and forth when it was going to make its first pass. Good times. My favourite level was probably Paris though
Overall the story was kind stupid but its ok because these days game devs can't make great stories. I think the actual plot would have been better had there actually been a better transition and none of this "oh im telling u wat haPPenED to move the plot forward".
In the end I had fun though which is all that matters in a video game and there were some really really epic moments in the game, so 10/10 for singleplayer
