Yes. You really don't see a problem in not including the PC market in this at all?

Do know those classic bf2 maps won't come out for who knows how long. I would imagine 2 months at least if thats all you want. I like caspian and hope the others are good to ^^. Really? I was under the impression that they'd come out at release, since the Back at Karkand DLC comes free for pre-ordering.
Yes it doesn't they have announced this before and I had a feeling you did not know this. It is free if you pre-order but it is not a day 1 DLC. It will come out some time after but no idea when and when it comes out you can buy it. I imagine its going to be like Battlefield bad company 2 vietnam in terms of 15$ to buy when it comes out.

I was wrong on one thing. Their plan is to release it roughly 1 month after battlefield 3 comes out .
"In addition to the 9 maps, those who have pre-ordered Battlefield 3 (1.25 million of you), will be getting additional 4 maps from the Back to Karkand expansion pack: Strike At Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Sharqi Peninsula and Wake Island. Back to Karkand is scheduled for release approximately 1 month after the release of Battlefield 3."

Not me either. Now if they released a version of Battlefield every year like Call of Duty that looks identical and plays identical(ie nothing new) I would not purchase the next Battlefield, but not purchasing something over a tournament is not important to me.

I don't really care tbh. They can do what they want as long as they fix the hit boxes and deliver a great game for us. Other than that they can have all the console tournaments they want. We'll have our own tournaments instead of cheap ass CoD knock offs that no one will remember.
Think about the biggest CoD or even Battlefield forum.
Think about Teamliquid.net
There's a huge difference between community organized tournaments and ones the games developers throw. Sure the prize money is enormous. That's great. It's also going to (probably) be the only tournament of the year. And let's be honest: Do you really care about who wins Blizzcon/This tournament?
Yes I wish they included PC in the market (espec cos the best players are here, on PC ^_^) but no I don't particularly care.

I am really depressed that I can't play on Caspian Border even on low settings, because of my junk computer . What do you guys recommend me to upgrade in it ? (As cheaply as possible, just to be able to run the game on atleast Medium, with 40+ FPS constantly.)
Currently I've got: Athlon64x2 5600+ Dual Core (2.9Ghz, 1MB, 65W, AM2) GTX 275 896MB 4GB RAM (running on 32bit OS, so 3,25GB are only usable)

This makes me really irate because it just rubs me the wrong way. It just spits in the face of all of us loyal Battlefield fans who have played it on PC all these years. Really, REALLY disappointed. Boycott a game because of a stupid advertising tournament? Give me a break. Yes. You really don't see a problem in not including the PC market in this at all?
No. BF3 is already very huge and accepted in PC. The game isn't a console port and you don't need to advertise something more to sell the game for PC users.
It's different for console because of CoDs Dominance.
My suggestion is to just get over it. The tournament is to advertise the game and attract people into playing it and seeing how BF is a level higher than CoD, I don't need a prized tournament to know that, some console players do need the incentive.
Whatever works for them, suck it up.

The game isn't a console port While it isnt a port the massive lowering of the skill ceiling indicates that consoles factored into the design heavily

Its simply easier because the game is more recent and the technology in designing a game allows the developers to fine-tune it so it's accommodating to everyone.
"easier" is relative. Let's blame consoles for everything that we don't like or feel is inferior to previous versions of the game.

LOL

I try and distance myself from 1942/DC/BF2 nostalgia and look at it objectively
But, two things that come to mind straight away Inaccurate missle pods that require a heli unlock to become accurate No bombs on the jets, rather auto aiming guided missles that require an unlock
In hindsight, its either casuals or consoles that lowered the skill ceiling. Now wheres my pitchfork...

Lol, awesome vid. I love when people put effort into syncing the audio with the video.

You have to unlock the bombs on jet unless I am mistaken?

I'm really enjoying this game a lot so far, but I'm just running around as a GI shooting people, and hunting snipers.
Will the game have something like a practice mode or maps vs bots so that I can play around with tanks/aircraft without feeling like I'm going to let the team down by sucking balls in a vehicle?
|
I'd wait and see until you also get to see the bomber jets, and its not like actually lockign htings on the ground is easy tbh, maybe if you already cleared the sky, but that does require skill, shaking off good jets etc.

What you see on your battle-log is basically it. Co-op, multiplayer and campaign is sadly all that will be available. I love how BF2 let you go and practice matches and maps on bots to get a feel but heck even that (if you were just alone and not even in a hosted server of your own) was without any aircraft. Wish every game didn't have to cut the nice features of the old but such is life. :/
