ATI Radeon 5770 currently, upgrading to a GTX 570 for the holidays, Gigabyte P55A-UD3 for mobo, and the Intel i5 750 2.67 GHz.
Should that be a good enough CPU to run the game without hiccups?

K, after playing this game a whole bunch, I am annoyed at the optic reflection. It's both unrealistic and game breaking. I've played enough to come to the conclusion that they are necessary, or something is, so that the game does not become a 32v32 prone campfest.
However, reflections that are like a flashlight being shined at you are not the answer. Modern optics all have sunlenses and anti-reflective coatings. If they insist on reflecting optics, I think they need to make them more subtle, and not reflect in the dark (inside the metro I can't reflect sunlight... right? So what is making this huge glare?) and possibly only if they are both looking at each other.
OR. alternatively, change it so that the brass ejecting from the rifles can catch the sunlight and reflect.

I haven't played in a while since it went open, have they fixed the clipping in metro yet? I hate getting killed from beneath the map. The server browser does need some work too, it's just too inconsistent, no refresh button, no ping filter.. just overall pretty frustrating.

Only once when I have strafed a tank did i get vehicle disable and that was probably because it was already weak. I have got infantry before so if thats spotted go for it i guess. There just isnt enough damage in the fighter jets to damage the armoured vehicles. I reckon the A10 in other maps will be a different though!

It's not your CPU. I have the exact same CPU and motherboard and I can run the game on Caspian fine. Had a 3 hr continuous session last night and it was smooth. its probably your graphics card

5750 and i'm rocking a solid 30-40 FPS (a little laggy, but it's not unplayable) on all medium settings

To all who replied to me - I know my framerate lag is coming from the card, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting half-second or longer hicupping from my CPU getting capped. Through task manager, I see my CPU usage fluctuating between 85% to 100%. I'm pretty sure it hiccups when I hit 100%.

It's most noticeable in helis for sure; you sure the game never hiccupped at all? Is it possible that the GPU could cause actual stuttering, like the VRAM getting capped?

I would just like to say to other potential PC gamers to boycott BF3 is they don't plan to support the PC and instead pull shit like this:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20113035-1/$1.6m-battlefield-3-tournament-coming-in-2012/
Apologies if this has already been discusses. This makes me really irate because it just rubs me the wrong way. It just spits in the face of all of us loyal Battlefield fans who have played it on PC all these years. Really, REALLY disappointed.

For me it seems like they have. You're not likely to get any more deaths due to burrowed lurke.. I mean enemy combatants during the first stage of Metro.
I was a bit frustrated because there was no ping filter either, but I got around it by typing the closest server location into the search bar and I found a lot of metro/caspian servers, most with <50 ping too, so I was happy. Type the nearest server location from your place and you should get some servers that are full and simply add them to your favorite. I had like... 20 servers favorited, haha!
So now that open beta is over with, what do you guys think? Buy? No Buy? Maybe if they fix the issues? I'm personally not going to buy it. I liked Metro, but I'm disappointed at how poorly Caspian Border played out. If Caspain exemplified what this game is supposed to be, then no thank you. Rocks made out of playdo, and the close proximity of the checkpoints meant I had no premonition whatsoever of where the opposition may be coming from. And the lack of communication just killed me, literally. I would die because I would think my teammates are nearby, but they run off somewhere else and before I realize it, I get ambushed...

Not the biggest fan of Caspian, but I'm content knowing that classic, successful BF2 maps like Strike at Karkand and Wake Island are gonna be in the game.

Boycott a game because of a stupid advertising tournament?
Give me a break.

Well while they aren't doing tournaments for the PC doesn't mean they aren't supporting the pc. Sucks sure and wish they would do a pc one but I'm not going to boycott because of it.

Do know those classic bf2 maps won't come out for who knows how long. I would imagine 2 months at least if thats all you want. I like caspian and hope the others are good to ^^.

I'm using a i5 760, I can run at 60 fps on Caspian with 64 players and graphics maxed out except for Ambient Occlusion (which is buggy on current drivers). Definitely not your CPU that's causing your performance problems.
I'm using a GTX 570. Hopefully this will encourage you when deciding to upgrade

Loved BF2, didn't get round to playing bad company. Hope BF3 is awesome.

Really? I was under the impression that they'd come out at release, since the Back at Karkand DLC comes free for pre-ordering.
