Probably the biggest (non-SC:BW) one:
Oh god how I love that game. Played through the original campaign five or six times, full complete, no stone of recall, no sidequests, stealth runs, you name it, i've done it.
Also:
About a year ago, I ran across the demo. I instantly flashed back to memories of watching my dad play this, then trying myself and getting my ass handed to me by the first enemy I ran into. Aah, sweet memories.
And of course, C&C RA2. Best 'splosions of any game I played in my childhood. Period.

The skill cap was so much higher than standard FPS games because you cant just point at a guy and shoot him. You had to lead your shots and predict where they were going to land clean hits. The amount of teamwork in these games was also a huge plus. Setting up defenses, sensor, outposts and whatnot provided for a broader range of tactics. I loved the Tribes series and wished it didnt get fucked over by those idiots who made Tribes Vengeance.
these two guys are the coolest guys in the world each one i have such fond memories of. iv been able to replay tribes again since its free now but man id love to have interstate 76 and crusader on my pc right now.

In no order of importance... so many good memories :D I have spent a lot of time playing video games, I don't regret it :D
the spyro games on PS: thanks for playing with me Dad :D, so cool Donkey Kong Country 1-3(mostly 1 and 2, such great games) Donkey Kong 64 Galactic Battlergrounds(thought this was such a cool take on RTS, loved it) Star Wars : Shadows of the Empire: my first N64 game, man Fett took us a year to beat on medium difficulty Lion King for Genesis.. my dad was so much better at this than me, i used cheat codes so much Sonic 2 for Genesis Pokemon Blue Pokemon Gold Morrowind.. Halo 2 (probably my all time favorite... this game was my life for a long time, and it was such a great game) Shadowrun(imo one of the greatest fps of all time) Age of Empires 2 (countless hours of fun, I loved building stuff up, especially a cool army, brits had longbows, my brother liked the persians for the elephants) Fire Emblem ( all of them, love these) Advanced Wars(all of them, love these to this day, does anyone play DoR? :D) Roller Coaster Tycoon, RCT 2(me and my uncle played this a lot) Bomberman(some epic games with me, my brother and my uncle) VMK: More recent, and yes Ill give an explanation :D, i feel brave for posting it though(kiddy disney MMO(restricted time you can play and pretty much everything was censred), lol.. can't believe I played it in high school, but my brother, uncle and cousins played so naturally I started collecting in game items, I also abused the fact macs safari was glitched and gave ultra rare items away every time you tried to get the random item. I actually "won" a trip to Disneyland by selling a in game pin that I won from a quest my uncle also made quite a bit selling, so he took us all to disneyland once
I actually tried starcraft at one point in my life, but i thought AOE2 and Galactic Battlegrounds were cooler, I didn't get into BW until 2007 =(, also the game I have spent the most time playing is Halo 2, and then Halo 3. I played Halo 3 purely competitively and the only good thing about it was my team mates and the few MLG events that were a blast.
Also, spent tons of time playing card games in my life time, or at least collecting and wishing I can play.. Pokemon, Star Wars, LotR, Yugioh, and the one I love the most, MTG, still play sometimes :D.
also in more recent years for reference Ive been playing: Oblivion, Halo 3, BW, Starcraft 2, League of Legends

Donkey Kong Country 2
Screw Mario, this was and continues to be my favorite platformer. It has a surprisingly phenomenal soundtrack as well considering the genre and its time.

Holy shit! omgwtf is it?! Should I catch it?!
![[image loading]](http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/e3cluINI7rQ/hqdefault.jpg)
Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal
Better than the originals imo. This was the golden age of pokemon in which a plethora of new pokemon were released without it feeling too ridiculous. The fact that you get to return to the original region of red/blue/yellow after beating the elite 4 was a massive surprise as well.

Zelda: Majora's Mask
I'm in the minority on this one, but I always felt that this was the best Zelda. People will complain of the time limit (about 6hrs before you need to reset the 3 day cycle with time slowed), but I felt it gave the game another level of depth through time management. It may very well be the most unique as well, in that Link constantly relives the three days knowing full well of the inevitable apocalypse. All the joy and help he's brought to the people in his quest will ultimately be erased as he relives the same time frame in a potentially different scenario, perhaps he'll help someone new this time, maybe finally save the world. Also, playing as a Goron, Zora, and Deku Shrub was damn fun :D.

*sigh* what ever became of you Ryu? God I loved this game, by today's standards it would be just a primitive sandbox. However, back in the lovely days of the dreamcast it was absolutely groundbreaking.

Final Fantasy IX
I encountered this game around the cutoff point for what I consider childhood. Had never played a ff game before and this one looked intriguing. This game would ultimately become my all-time favorite, as well as the gateway to the rest of the series. I won't go into detail as this game alone could fill this entire post >.>;;

If by childhood you mean before I was 13 then:
Pac Man
Space Invaders
Paratrooper
Space Quest:
Jones in the fast lane:
Those were all on my old 386. Later I got a newer computer and played all the classics that came out 1995-2000 too but those were in my teens I guess. Most of the newer games I played are already i this thread.

Age of Kings' graphics hold up so well, amazing effort from the art/graphics team, and probably my favorite game ever.
Here are some I don't think I've seen mentioned yet.
Saved up pocket money for months to buy this game. Soooo worth it. Blur song 2

Two games shaped me into the gamer I am today
Final Fantasy VIII
![[image loading]](http://thegamereviews.com/userfiles/image/Bargain%20Bin/03-18-09/ffviii.jpg)
This game turned me into an obsessive tinkerer. The junction system allowed for such a large variety of possibilities that I had to try them all, dooming me for all eternity to be a hopeless completionist and optimalist. Plus, the story turned me into a hopeless, hopeless romantic. I was only 9 years old!
Donkey Kong Country
![[image loading]](http://www.mikehart.net/port/list/topsnesgames/donkey_kong_country.jpg)
The quality of this game is just unbelievable. The graphics, music, controls, everything was just absolutely superb. It set a high bar for what I expected out of games I would play, and sadly, most games have not met that standard

Contra was one of the first games I bought but I also played some old staff before it.

There was this other puzzle game we had had school made by like boldensoft or brodensoft (killing me that I can't remember), anyway you had like 20 little blue dudes you had to get to the end by figuring out what each path would allow through.

I'm a little younger than most of the people here, but I got this game for my tenth birthday. Played it for a solid four years, and got pretty darn good. Honestly still is my favourite game of all time. Insane amounts of fun. If there was a competitive scene for it, I would still be playing it. Not sure if anyone still plays CBall, but I dropped it as soon as I found out about AoE 2. After that, I was an RTS guy. Played SupCom and SupCom FA, worshiped TLO even then. =D Between the death of FA and the SC2 beta, I played BW. Got to a C- rating on iCCup one season.
And here we are at today, where I envision myself playing Sc2 for quite a while.
