![]() The original version of Choplifter, on the Apple IIe greenscreen :D I played this a lot as a little kid, but I wasn't coordinated enough yet to get very far. ![]() Possibly my all-time favorite game. None of the sequels come close to capturing the magic of this game: ![]() And of course the first multiplayer game that I ever attempted to get really good at ![]() Used to play this game so much in college on LAN (we were all horrible by any competitive standard, but holy crap we had a lot of fun) ![]()

![]() ![]() I've played many games throughout my life and there are some games that even now I could probably pick up and enjoy again. I'll try to list them in chronological order from the games I played as a wee little kiddo till the games I play right now. MSX2 era (1986-1994) King's Valley 2 ![]() King's Valley 2 is a puzzle/platform game made by Konami. It was also one of the first games I've played that had its own level editor. A good creative outlet for me at the time! Eggerland 2 ![]() Eggerland 2 is a puzzle game by HAL laboratories. I don't know why but for some reason some of the monsters in that game creeped the fuck out of me (the Medusa and Don Medusa's). Treasures of Usas ![]() Treasures of Usas is a fun platform game by Konami (like 90% of the games on the MSX were made by Konami). I never managed to actually beat the game though, always got stuck on the last act. CDi era (1993-1995) Space Ace ![]() Space Ace is a reactionary game (not sure what genre it falls in). The game will blink objects or locations which corresponds to pressing a button on the game pad (left, right,up,down, fire). Dragon's Lair 1&2 ![]() Like Space Ace this is also a reactionary game made by Don Bluth (or at least had Don Bluth as the artist). A lot of humor in this one, its still hilarious how Dirk the Daring (you, player) runs around in a panic, trying to survive the various lethal situations he gets into. Early (offline) PC era (1993-2000) Dune 2 ![]() Dune 2 was the first real time strategy game that I played (on my brothers brand new PC!). I was blown away by the graphics and the gameplay. I always tried to Sim City my base and make it as nice as possible with walkways and walls all around. Doom 1&2 ![]() Who doesn't know Doom. Even though I played Wolfenstein before this was such a big improvement and at the time it had no equals. It's also the first game with multiplayer (COAX cable connecting 2 computers). Final Fantasy VII ![]() Final Fantasy VII was the first RPG I played (PC version too). The games I played up till now didn't really have a vast story to them or had 20ish hours of gametime required to tell its story. It really made an impression and I've played lots of RPGs since. Late (online) PC era (2000-now) Quake 3 Arena ![]() I've played more Quake games before I got Quake 3 Arena but it was during this period that I got a stable internet connection which opened a whole new world for me. Quake 3 Arena was the first online multiplayer game I played competatively. Finding like-minded people to form a clan with and compete against other people is a whole lot different then mauling 4 computer players in a FFA all the time. Even now I still play its successor Quake Live, although not as competatively as before. Final Fantasy XI ![]() FFXI was not the first MMO I played (I also played Asheron's Call 2). But it was the first MMO that I played for 5 years straight (with a small break here and there). I've made a friends there that I still occasionally talk to. It's different when you play with the same people day in and day out compared the the "anonymous" ladder play that you will find in most non MMO games. I quit about a year ago though since the game grew stale for me after 5 years and I figured I needed a change of scenery (yes, I went to WoW). Currently I picked up an old PC version of Eggerland called Eggerland Revival! which was a nice trip to retro-lane. I also play Quake Live occasionally, though I stopped playing online since I tend to play QL when I don't have a lot of time to commit to other games like Starcraft II or WoW. Those 2 are basicly the only other PC games I play regularly.

By the way, when I saw Rayman, I nostalgia'd so hard it literally brought a tear to my eye. Also, Deus Ex is my favorite game ever.
