Ah Banjo Kazooie... such fond memories.

I could say Starcraft was a childhood game but I only started playing that when it came out in 1999. There were games I had been playing years before that. Starcraft definitely reshaped who I was as a person though. It was a truly life changing experience and all things that have happened since then have been influenced in some way by my introduction to Starcraft and the thousand and one events spawning from it.

But for my true childhood experience leading up to that...

Sonic 2
Only when I was introduced to Starcraft did Sonic fall off of my radar. This screenshot seems to be some kind of custom wallpaper.

Mario Kart 64
Can't say I've ever been a racing buff but this was still fun as hell.

Diddy Kong Racing
[image loading]

Battle Tanx & Battle Tanx: Global Assault. These I played non-stop all the way up to when I got a PC. To this day I wish I had the talent to rebuild something similar to them as a mod in something (probably the UDK at this point). I posted a youtube video a while ago showing an amazing glitch I exploited in the first Battle Tanx to spam infinite bouncing lasers and such from your allied goliath tank.

Body Harvest
Tremendously influencial of how I designed my mods and writing later in life.

Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, Timesplitters

Timesplitters is basically the end of the line for this brilliant series, specifically Future Perfect. But until I knew about Timesplitters, which was long after Starcraft, I played Goldeneye and PD to death. Although I aggressively tried to get cheats in Goldeneye I never really attempted any in PD. Due to poverty I never had the opportunity to play Perfect Dark until long after its release.

Bomberman 64
This and an SNES version I very briefly played at one point and cannot recall the name of.

FF7

Only RPG I ever played for the longest time and enjoyed thoroughly. I think my game had around 80 hours on it and I didn't have any of the special stuff like shiny chocobos or OP summons, nor did I kill Emerald or Ruby weapon. I was far too young/stupid to understand the mechanics behind getting the chocobos. So, instead, I had 4x and Retaliation along with some crazy sword on Cloud. He just bent over dudes with that and that was that. I went back to it semi-recently to show a friend the ending and died to supernova on the final boss. I realized I had no fucking idea how to play my dudes anymore. Thinking of doing a casted playthrough.

There were others as well. The SNES version of Spawn I believe, P.O.W., the old Super Mario Bros, so on. But these are what immediately stands out in my brain damaged mind.

Holy fuuuuuuuu this thread is just filled with nostalgia. My own addition:

Sarge's Heroes 2
[image loading]

Majesty
[image loading]

Starcraft of course :D (Edit: screwed up my image copy-pasting)

Jazz Jackrabbit
[image loading]

Doom. I would play the levels over and over again until I found every secret. Probably affected me.

Apogee's 15 games in 1 cd. Choosing to showcase Word Rescue
[image loading]

Halloween Harry? This game was weird, you'd go around stripping off green gunk from women. I don't know..

Don't want to overload the post anymore, maybe I'll dig deeper into my memories later

I'm remembering a game, it was a PC game, a side-scrolling prince of persia-ish fighting game in which you shot projectiles to kill enemies, but I can't remember the name

I remember the weapons and upgrades though, I think you bought it at the start of each level, and each one stacked up to three times. I remember 1 damge throwing knives, 5 damage firebolts, and 12-damage spears or axes.

Does anyone know of it?

Tetris! When everyone had Win 95 we just got a Win 3.0. Literally 4 games that ran on it. This isn't the exact picture of the game, but I've never found a Tetris game that I liked since that old one. Never looks or feels quit right.

SimCity- played at home and free time in computer class (that and Lemmings, and a tank game called Vector? Very few games seemed to be on those old apple computers.)

Civilization 2- Played hotseat at friends houses many a time.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Actually played it very few times as a child, but for some reason was a game I was still enthralled with and eventually found an emulator to play it multiple times years later. (Never owned a console system.)

Imperial Conquest- Turn-based strategy game- played with my brother and cousin for hours.

Space Empires 2- Another turn-based strategy that I played with my brother and cousin.

Warcraft II- Very first RTS played. Played it all the time at friends houses. (My Windows 95 too sluggish to play it.) Absolutely loved the Lord of the Rings feel to it.

Age Of Empires 2- First RTS owned, played, and made UMS maps- (tried creating my own campaign.)

Also early on, a lot of those shareware/demo 40 games and 100 games cds that you used to get- are home computer sucked so often those were the few games that would work.

Lots of other games that I played and loved, but these are the ones that were huge for me in the early years.

Notice the pattern of having a really crappy computer? Guess what- I own SC2 and I can't run it since one of the last patches on Beta Some things never change.

Oh god Sarge's Heroes. I totally forgot about the army men games. I can't even remember most of their names but I played just about all of them and loved them as a kid.

I have others, but I think FF4 was the most influential.

First actual computer game.

Ran in to this gem when I was 10. Not a child's game by any means but it deserves a mention. One of the most messed up RPGs of all time.

And of course starcraft, but no screenshot can capture the epic in that game.

I spent so much time playing this game, several hundred hours at least.
