Hey, been looking for an MMO to start ever since I left Aion, WoW seemed too large a world for me to just jump straight into... so I would like to start a game with a bunch of nice people, and who could be nicer than Teamliquid :p
A little about myself:
I had never played an MMO before Aion, and it was with a sense of trepidation I bought the game, and started playing with two friends of mine, who convinced me to play since they were both starting the game as well. I must admit one of the draws was Aion's beautiful graphics, a desire to try something I hadn't before, and because Spiritmaster's looked so cool
So to my delight, I found I enjoyed the game, (even the grinding was bearable ) and began to overtake my friends in leveling (I was and still am an university student, but my friends were working), and due to lack of time commitments they slowly stopped playing altogether. Although I was rather saddened at the time, I had the fortune to find a group of nice players from World of Warcraft who had just moved over to Aion, and after a few days of running instances with them, I became a part of the Darkwing Syndicate. Other than our daring duck of mystery taking the place as our mascot, I found the guild to be full of interesting people.
I guess to this day, that was what drove me to play the game as long as I did, the people behind the characters. Being exposed to so many personalities beyond my normal social circles widened my horizons. People being retrenched due to the American financial crisis, a soldier in the army, a single mother, a lovely husband and wife couple, these were the kind of people I could talk to and learn from, while being treated as an equal. It was truly a moving experience, and to this day still remains one of my fondest memories.
However, all good things must come to an end, and unfortunately it coincided with me taking a 3 month trip to Malaysia. Upon my return to Australia and a decent internet connection, things had changed. Alot. Most of the members were inactive, or had decided to join larger guilds that were playing a more important role in the racial conflicts. With those that were left being at a much higher level than I was, running instances with my guild mates became a rare occasion, and as they started moving on to alts, I realised that the game suddenly wasn't enjoyable anymore.
Left to fend for myself, I soon grew disillusioned with the game and its lack of balance. (I was Asmodean hurr durr hurr). It was then that I decided to stop playing, and uninstalled and cancelled my account the next day. My one regret is that I did not have the courage to tell the people I had met in the game that I was leaving, or the reasons behind me going. Gah... crap I've rambled on a fair bit =_=. Anyways, while I am a fairly competitive person, I would mainly like to play an MMO to get to know more people and to be sociable Hopefully I will be allowed the chance to contribute to the Guildwars 2 Teamliquid community.
TLDR; I would really like to join!
Thanks

Mango has been kind enough to provide us with a place to mingle in the TS server, it stays pretty active throughout the week, and gets pretty crazy on weekends. Would love to have you stop by
Also, we will be holding our second guild Sc2 Tournament Saturday, since our last one was such a hit. It will start around 8:00 pm eastern tomorrow, and every saturday night following.
Celerity, Freelancer, and some others are casting the event. None of us are full blown pros at either sc2 or casting, but its made for some good times.
From the official topic:
Thanks to everyone last saturday for sharing the fun in our tournament This time around will run about the same way, but with the finals being a best of 3. Basic Rules for Saturday Events: 8 players chosen in standard elimination bracket play. 2 players in the end, best of 3 matchup. Maps chosen by random number drawn, or agreement beforehand. Casted by Celerity, Freelancer, and Mystor. Other guest casters as well. Recorded and streamed live in 720p via own3d.com and justin.tv. Look forward to seeing you guys there

Finally the guardian preview is up on guildwars2 site! It's pretty interesting, but i hope they keep a healing-focused class

they said in a dev interview that they didn't want the healer/dpser/tank trifecta, so I wouldn't count on it.

While the guardian is being portrayed as a tank somewhat, I think theyre aiming more for a support role. Theres no doubt thats some of the flashiest graphics ive seen in spells.

edit: nevermind, question answered after looking further ><; delete this post if it's thought as wasting space.

No biggie, updated main thread for viewing goodness.

The new guardian class looks awesome. Hopefully they don't become fotm or necessary for groups though. Now I have the tough decision of warrior or guardian. Basically I have to choose between tanking + massive damage or tanking + massive support.

where is my MESMER T_T
and the guardian looks liek a Monk with armor

If those buffs stacks, I can just see the abuse coming. 7 Guardians, 1 Monk. It's the new Iway, or at least the new Wammoway

I just have a question, in light of the guardian announcement, have they said anything about group structures in gw2?
Like, in gw1 last time i played, the group structure was so convoluted that people rarely used tanking classes for tanking, and instead things like 55s and assassins were the best tanking classes. Oh and when i came back for eotn no one would group without bear form.
And what of grouping? Are they going for a more traditional approach or are monks and necros still going to be able to solo the hardest pve content? Are heroes going to be in the game? towards the end I was lead to resent their addition because it practically killed any incentive to group.

They claim the old trinity is gone, being replaced with Support, Control and Damage. As such, each class is supposed to be able to fill any of those 3 roles (to differing degrees) within a group. There are no heroes in this game so you either solo (which seems very doable with most content) or grouping with other players.

They have stated that the Guardian replaces the Monk, and they hinted that at a rogue/assassin reveal next. Eurogamer Source

There will be no healers in GW2....so no monk.
