I just don't see how gold would be such a big issue when the gear thing in sPvP doesn't involve gold, tournaments apparently don't involve gold. WvWvW involved gold, but the amounts weren't all that high in beta, so if they aren't changed, then it shouldn't be an issue. PvE in dungeons is at most 5 man, so really, how much of a gold limiter can you get in it? Ofc if you just want gold for the sake of having gold, I'm sure you can rake it in at the AH, just like any other game. I raked in WoW for far more than I could ever reasonably spend (several 100s Ks) and all that did for me gameplay-wise was I needed to farm less herbs for consumables. Although funnily enough I still flew around farming the stuff I needed to raid, because apart from that and the raids itself, I had nothing else to do ![]()

If so I think I'll pass. :/ It's not, but the option to play it that way is still there if you want to. Developers have been quoted saying it's possible to get to level 80 by doing nothing but playing the auction house and crafting (since crafting gives you a sizable amount of XP)

First of all, it is entirely possible to wish no hate against team legacy members while also wishing there is no affiliation with legacy and liquid. It would mean that i simply don't want team liquid affiliated with a group that has a bad rep, regardless if their rep is based on truth or fiction. From what i've heard, this is the bad rep they have: Legacy is a zerg guild, allied with 12 guilds that stomp WvW together but do not really have good coordination. Legacy's leader is BM at town halls (voip meetings between gw2 guild leaders) and kind of name drops himself to the extent of "im the leader of team legacy, listen to me". Actually, most of the negativity i hear is about their leader. I dont mean to spread rumors, but it looks like people here genuinely want to know what they would be getting into if they joined team legacy (a team i wanted to join originally for its TL affiliation). To be fair, a faceless critic is kind of a coward. I am the competitive pvp captain of Applied Tactics, a different competitive team and if any representative from legacy wants to clear the air, i really dont mean to talk crap.

I have no interest in Team Legacy, they are exactly the type of people I try to stay as far away from as possible.

I was a member of TeamLegacy when I first heard of GW2 coming out and participated on their forums regularly, and was present in their weekly TeamSpeak guild meetings, but I never felt like I fit in with the guild. I also had a bad experience with one of their most respected members and tried to talk with him to see if we can make amends, but didn't work out. After then I stopped engaging with TeamLegacy entirely feeling it just wasn't the right place for me. For those who feel it's been a great fit for them, glad to hear it. I'm undecided on joining any guild in GW2 at the moment. I loved the guild I ended up with in SWTOR, but that game died out a few months ago. Maybe I'll see if I can bring enough of them into GW2 and go from there. If that happens, I know we'll be recruiting more members and I'll let those interested know. I don't plan on playing GW2 hardcore. I'll just play it a few times a week whenever I feel like it. I didn't get that "addictive" MMO feel playing the game, which I like about it actually. The addictiveness with other MMOs usually stemmed from psychological pressures to continue playing the game such as the monthly subscription and constant gear grinds. GW2 has neither, so I'm very happy about that.

Last I heard you needed recommendation/referrals from other members to get in though so they can weed out riffraff or whatnot. If you're EU, there's a casual TL guild there as well.

How is anyone supposed to know anyone else honestly? I know the people who play Dota and whatnot, not the MMO players.

If you have a good standing with TL and shown you've been here awhile that should be good enough to get in if this guild is aligned with TL, which from what I read no longer is. Kinda find it funny they aligned with TL, got the publicity and mass amount of members, then dislodge themselves from TL and are no longer affiliated after they got all the benefits.

Doesn't surprise me at all with the way they conducted themselves in the GW2 threads here. Here's the original response I got on this issue: + Show Spoiler + On April 13 2012 23:31 irninja wrote: I suppose we should be just another zerg guild with no reputation and common sense and recruit every skilled player and troll under this roof we call Team Liquid as well. No MMO experience? No problem! No common sense or aptitude? No problem! We've been down this route before, please refer to pages 30 something, and 80 something for moderator responses on the matter. This is far from just a Team Liquid-only guild. Apparently you didn't read the thread. We started in 2010 with all Team Liquid community members from the Eve/Wow/GW1 communities, and started as a "Team Liquid Anyone-can-join-guild". Over time we recruited experience and maturity from all over the competitive MMO scene, ArenaJunkies, Team Quitter etc. Where in 2010 we were 100% TL, we are nowhere near that anymore. We've become a melting pot from a lot of different competitive communities. We kicked off an amazing democratic process, evolved the guild to the prominence it's at now, and here we are. We still keep in contact with many of the mods here, take advice and criticism in development of www.teamlegacy.net. We still share the strict moderation policies of Team Liquid as well, because like it or hate it, Team Liquid mods have their job down pat. Most importantly, we share the drive that the Team Liquid community shares as a whole - to promote eSports, especially in the case of GW2. That's why we have 2 podcasts, that's why we've already started organizing our first tournament. Did we start out TL community only? Of Course. Were we all idra fans? Hell no. MarineKing was our guild mascot. Did we open the doors for top arena players and GvG players? Sure did. Even non-TL members. Did we promote the rules and regulations of Team Liquid on our guild? Many bans later, yes. We still have trolls bitching at us for that. Do we encourage our non-TL members (and other GW2 community members) to idolize Team Liquid like we do? Hell yes. If your in the guild joining from somewhere outside Team Liquid, you're going to know who djWHEAT is, your going to know who ryan.rushia is. Your going to know who GTR is, and many others. They all helped organize the site and realistic goals. Now, in 2012, is the guild all Team Liquid-only community members? Absolutely not. The founders/original members still are. So please save the song and dance for someone else. If you truly want a more open/recruit everyone guild, create your own. Even if we wanted to mass-recruit everyone with less than 1k posts on these forums, we wouldn't be able to.

Likewise there has been some minor mumblings about certain higher up members behavior on the GW fan forums. That's exacerbated by the tight knitness of the forum community with a slight disconnect between GW1 player community and the "new guard" guilds like Legacy. Much like with TL, a lot of the GW1 (a la SC:BW) fourmites don't like the people who are coming in due to a new game (a la SC2).
