well think about it. open beta is going to start soon and ArenaNet will not open beta GW2 from April-November. With Diablo 3 coming out in may...I think GW2 will be out after Diablo 3..maybe a month after. november is too late.

Arena net said that it would be out late(ish) this year, and that points toward around november, there is absolutely no source saying that the release date is in november because that is flat out incorrect.

I haven't seen them say anything about early/later/mid just it will come out in 2012.

I just put in 10 minutes of research and couldn't find any official outlet mentioning an open beta. I did, however, find this. Do you have a more recent source to contradict this info? It would be great to have confirmation of a proper open beta.

So I don't think I understand this quite so much. People say that closed beta or whatnot starts in like late March or April. What about some people already playing the beta like TotalBiscuit and some others. What is their version called? Press Beta, Friends and Family Beta that gets to start earlier?

Before February it was Friends & Family. February was Press Beta. Now they are going to "progressively open the beta more and more until release."

I'm discussing the idea that he said you have to buy the game to get access to beta, which is not true. They said in a GW2Guru post a long while back, which they recently specified on more of their plans. That they finish the game in Alpha, have a Closed Beta, and progressively open the beta to more and more people and release the game immediately after they are satisfied with beta results.
And fuck, by "end of March" I hope they don't mean the VERY last weekend 2 1/2 weeks from now ;_;

If you buy the pre-release in April, you're supposed to have guaranteed beta weekend access, whatever that means. Closed beta does start sometime in March/April.

whats coming now is the "public" closed beta. Meaning that the beta is open to general participation. Before it was only invited persons and guilds from GW and Aion

yup. the closed beta isnt gonna be your usual exclusive and hush hush beta. at least 250,000 (probably more) will be in on it (they will pre purchase). id hardly call that a "closed beta". they even said they will have a short open beta and move straight to release.
guys the closed beta sign ups hit 1 million in just 48 hours. and they announced that you get ALL beta access if you pre purchase....it's gonna be soon boys and girls. they are willing to test their servers to god knows how many people already. i think that should tell you something.

well from what I remember from Aion which was released by NCsoft (basically same thing) you were able to pre purchase the game about a month or maybe month and a half before release and then there was beta weekend every other weekend? not sure about that last one
